After going 5-2 last week, Ram is back with his predictions this week.

 

Ram's Notebook will look at match-ups for the North-Eastern Kentucky area, which includes the following teams: Boyd County, East Carter, Fairview, Lawrence County, Lewis County, Raceland, Russell, and West Carter.

1A #5 Raceland (4-1) vs. 3A Lawrence County (2-3)

There have been some great games in this series, some really great games. But, this year the Rams are experienced and playing at a high level and Lawrence County is trying to build some experience for the post season. The Dawgs are showing that they are able to score points, but at the same time their defense is allowing around 45 points per game. Raceland has proven to have an explosive offense that can score quick and has a strong defense. Raceland improves to 5-1 and Lawrence County drops to 2-4.

3A Russell (2-2) vs. 3A West Carter (0-4)

Russell has played some strong teams in preparation for district play. Russell is a better team then expected and is gaining experience. West Carter is going to have to be lucky to win a game in 2012. That luck will not help this week, the Red Devils roll.

4A Greenup County (0-4) vs. 1A #7 Fairview (4-0)

Greenup County is struggling and don’t expect that to stop this week. Fairview has proven to have scoring ability and will do so at will this week. Fairview will probably rush for around 250 yards and have a running clock early.

4A #4 Ashland (4-1) vs. 4A Rowan County (2-3)

Ashland lost a hard fought battle with Ironton, OH last week. They will have something to prove and I expect them to run the table through the rest of the regular season. Rowan County will not have the players to stop a potent Ashland offense. Ashland proves their point and gets the win.

4A Boyd County (2-2) vs. 4A #10 Johnson Central (3-1)

Boyd County is improved, but not “beating Johnson Central” improved. Boyd will put up a good fight in the first half, but will fade in the second with Johnson Central getting the win. Johnson Central will improve to 4-1 and gain momentum going into the second half of the season.

3A East Carter (0-5) at 3A Mason County (1-4)

Mason ran into a brick wall last week against Highlands, but they leave the field feeling a little better this week. East Carter is having a tough time getting that first win of the season, and they don’t get it this week.

3A Lewis County (1-3) vs. 3A Fleming County (3-2)

Lewis is still improving and can still have a good showing in district play, but Fleming County is too explosive for the Lions. Fleming has a strong passing offense that will give the Lions fits. Lewis County will learn and improve this week, but they don’t get the win.
