Chris Stobaugh has been named the new boys’ basketball coach at North Oldham High School.

Stobaugh, 30, was an assistant coach the past two seasons at North Oldham and replaces David Henley, who posted a 34-28 record before taking the job at Eastern.

Stobaugh inherits a North Oldham program that loses four starters from its 2011-12 squad that finished 19-11 but does return top scorer David Levitch.

“We’ll be able to build around him,” Stobaugh said. “Even though we’ll be inexperienced, I think we can be competitive. We’ll play a little faster than we have in the past and have a more exciting brand of basketball.”

Stobaugh, a 2000 graduate of DeSales, was an assistant coach at DeSales and Male before heading to North Oldham. He also was DeSales’ head coach during the 2005-06 season, posting a 21-10 record and leading the Colts to the Sixth Region Tournament final before falling to Pleasure Ridge Park.
