Paul Laurence Dunbar has hired Scott Chalk as its new boys’ basketball coach.

Chalk, who has more than 300 victories in 20 years as a head coach, is no stranger to the 11th Region.

He’s been at Franklin County the last nine years, posting a record of 141-116, including seven trips to the region tournament.

Before that, he was at Frankfort for nine seasons. He guided the Panthers to five consecutive All “A” Classic state tournaments.

“I’ve been in the 11th Region for 18 years, so I know the situation and what it takes to win it,” Chalk said. “I’m excited to be going to one of the premier schools in the region.”

Good luck Coach Chalk. I've always thought Dunbar should have more success than it has both in basketball and football. A lot of it probably has to do with the feeder programs...the junior high schools, and maybe that is where Dunbar gets left out as the talent goes either to Lexington Catholic or other public schools somehow. Of course being in a killer district doesn't help.
