Southern Idaho Basketball Signs Guard

The College of Southern Idaho signed guard Jaysean Paige on Friday, the fourth backcourt player to sign with the men’s basketball team for the 2012-13 season.“We’re starting to look a lot like that championship team with just Kenny (Buckner) in the paint,” joked CSI head coach Steve Gosar. “Instead of four guards and one big, we’ll go straight five guards.”

Paige, a 6-1 shooting guard from Hazard, Ky., joins Kareem Storey (University of Utah), James Reid (Bend, Ore.,) and Darius Johnson (Baton Rouge, La.,) as new backcourt players for the 2012-13 season.

Paige grew up in Jamestown, N.Y., where he led his high school team to its first state final four as a junior. He averaged 26.1 points that season.

He moved to Hazard, Ky., his senior year, transferring to Perry County Central High School. He averaged 21 points and 6.7 rebounds this season and garnered recruiting interest from Morehead State.

“He is a really athletic 2-guard who can shoot the ball with range and is really explosive,” said CSI head coach Steve Gosar. “He’s a great kid that fits with what we’re trying to do.”
