  1. I guess the answer would be no. No you don't get the picture do you RickyP.
  2. My guess is that it was Guru. I know he takes a lot of pictures at some of the better events around the state. I could rip Rose Hill, but since the Rose Hill people all think I have something against them I will attempt to only make one comment about the game, whcih to me sums up the Royal's entire season. In the fourth quarter after the momentum had shifted, there were two possessions where OJ brought the ball up court and and elected both times to take his guy one on one. Both times he was called for a charge. Rather than discuss team ball, running our offense, creating looks out of the offense, etc. Jeff Hall said nothing to OJ, but argued with the officals that it was a block and not a charge. Get the picture?
  3. There are three sides to every story. In this case... The Rose Hill side, the Bill Walker side, and you can be assured the truthful side lies somewhere in the middle of these two. My personal opinion is that below the veneer and spin of what everyone wants you to believe, that everybody who has their hands in this mess has some dirt caked on.
  4. You are missing the point. Was it OK that he had been to four schools before Rose Hil or is it only 5 that sounds the alarm? Did he have AAU coaches who were a negative influence before or did this just happen? Did his Mom change? My point is this. The things RickyP is criticizing are things the school probably knew all along. Maybe they finally stepped over the line of what was acceptable to school, but criticize this one action. To take it any further is what I deem self serving. It is like we had a comfort level with his mom, coach, history when he was playing basketball, but now that he's gone it is like there goes one bad apple and an equally bad posse surrounding him. I don't need to know anything else about the history of BW to know that there was a silence from RickyP before this happened, but afterwords he suddenly has all sorts of problems with BW and the people surrounding him. You can't have it both ways.
  5. Chaplain I don't know the details and I admit that. However, no matter what the details are I know enough that I think it is self serving for RickyP to praise Rose Hill and then criciticize the young man. I really think that Rose Hill knew what they were getting into when landed BW. The circumstances didn't suddenly change. BTW, you said you would pray for Bill Walker and the people that continually try to use him for their advantage. What seperates Rose Hill/Jeff Hall from everyone else? Keep in mind that without basketball skill BW never steps foot into a KY classroom and no one in Ashland will have ever heard his name.
  6. Yes, RickyP did stick in a token best wishes to BW just after praising Rose Hill and questioning everything else about the kid. Did Rose Hill make no mistakes? The kid had the same mom before he came to Rose Hill, I am sure the kid had a reptuation (good or bad) that coach Hall knew about, I would guess that the fact that the kid had been to 4 schools in the last two years before coming to RH was a common fact. I don't think it would have been too much for Rose Hill to connect the dots and if they had they might have drawn a conclusion about whether this was a healthy fit. I would guess that coach Smith at Oak Hill has realized that eveyone who walks his doors that has basketball talent isn't a healthy fit for his program. Rose Hill needs to learn the same lesson.
  7. RickyP your praise the Rose Hill administration and then in the same breath you speak of tarnished reptuations, dispicable actions by his mother, 5 schools in 2 years, and openly question why any coach would get involved with this kid. Your comments appear more than a little self serving. Maybe Rose Hill should have seen the writing on the wall just like you want future coaches to see. Maybe every basketball phenom that comes down the pike is not healthy for the team or school. Maybe this is one kid that Rose Hill should have passed on.
  8. Does this really surprise anyone?
  9. The only way he will be eligible is if his family "lives" in Ft. Thomas. We all know that and I'm sure he knows that. However, what does "living" in Ft. Thomas mean? What would stop the family from establishing "residency" in a Ft. Thomas apartment Monday-Friday and go live in their Independence home after the game on Friday until Monday morning. Look I don't care if the kid comes or not. If he does he will help a good Highlands team be better. If he doesn't he will help a mediocre SK team be ... well... mediocre. This move benefits one person and that person is Nevels more than it benefits anyone else or hurts anyone else.
  10. When did it become an issue for a family to chose the community and school system that is best for a kid to go to school? The only way Nevels will be eligible is for him to have residency in Ft. Thomas. What makes this different than the many many other families who choose a community based upon the school that is there.
  11. Dave smoozes with everyone and he knows lots of people. Hardly an indication of anything shady. Since he runs camps and makes money off of camps. Dave would probabaly rather have a kid attend one of his camps where they pay him than risk alienating a potiential client. Sure you are insinuating that Mueller is involved. That is why you brought it up. Come on you have spent a whole thread defending a guy for throwing away a recruiting letter to a kid who is still at his school and has only talked of transferring. Do you really think the SK people don't have much beef with Nevels leaving? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease! Could it be that Nevels or his family simply got tired of losing and not being able to compete. Sought out the best place for Jordan to finish high school and there was nothing sinister involved? Of course it could be, but it doesn't make for as good of discussions as you suggesting the big ugly bluebird stole from the talent poor pioneers their star players while an innocent coach stood shedding tears wishing him the best.
  12. This is the purpose... You can't seperate these two. Is Trinity better - yes. Are they better because they are bigger - yes.
  13. What is the deal? When we talk football your guy's memories extend to the beginning of time, when we talk basketball it extends two weeks? Doesn't anyone remember the glory days when Male, Ballard, Moore, Iroquois, Faridale, Eastern and the rest of the gang were handing it to the Rocks on a daily/semi-weekly basis? TheMan did (just for you Gaily Bedight). Not looking to change things or propose a remedy.
  14. Reminds me of the old Ghostbusters Song: When your a star on the field and you got no dough Where you gonna go Male High School If you want to be seen and you got no green who you gonna be a Ballard Bruin Do you realize how insulting your comments are towards people who attend or went to public school? No wonder they get a measure of joy out of pounding you in basketball. Not to mention the facts don't even support what you are saying. It sounds like you are trying to say that finanical burden prevents many top athletes from attending Trinity. From an outsiders (probably shock many of you that TheMan is not connected with Trinity ) point of view it doesn't appear that Trinity is having much trouble finding top athletes who are willing to pay the price: Brohm, McBroom, May, Thiry, etc. Make no mistake TheMan doesn't care where a kid goes to school. TheMan doesn't care why a kid chooses to go there. TheMan doesn't want Trinity, X, or anyone else to have to play in their own "private league" (what fun would that be). TheMan only wants to say that day one before any weights are lifted, before any coaches are hired, before a pad is strapped on, before a schedule is put together, before a single play is contemplated, Trinity (and X) have an advantage that will allow them to beat probably 85% (if not more, maybe many more) of the teams in this state. This is a bit hard to swallow for some Trinity fans, because they want to believe that they win solely because of tradition, work ethic, coaches, heart, community support, etc., however, just because it is a little hard to swallow doesn't make it any less true.
  15. What is your point SF? What does making gross exagerations do except show that you do not want to carry on an intellectual debate? As far as anything new being discussed, maybe this thread doesn't cover any new gound (I have not been around enough recently to know). However, I do think his stats show how dramatic the numbers favor St. X and Trinity.
