  1. This game was very physical from the beginning. Saw a few yellows, and there should have even been a red. #5 for MC was very physical but also was dirty. Pushing players over and swiping at them when he lost the ball. Completely reckless and the ref didn't control him. HHS started the game weak leaving MC two breakaways but couldn't capitalize on it. Paul Tully made a few good saves and really kept the birds in it in the first half. Two nicely worked goals from Mills and Ginter had HHS eyeing another victory for the 10th in a row. A third could have easily been capitalized on by Ginter who was played through by Dolezal but skied it over. Second half, MC scored off of a corner in around two minutes. After that, it was all HHS. They possessed the ball through their mids and their wingers played nice balls in. Again, Gish and Dolezal scored off of their short corner tactic. Another chance came from Dolezal who carried the ball forward and outpaced three MC boys who later took him down in the penalty area. A nice PK but an even better save. This 10th win in a row, but overall (13-1-2), should give HHS a nice boost of confidence heading down to La Salle Thursday night.
  2. Final per KHSAA scoreboard. Anybody catch the game? Any details??
  3. Definitely a typical battle between these two. NCC didn't possess much, but rather looked for the more direct ball the entire game. HHS did well to cope with this style of play by winning the 50/50 balls. Drew Rom and Colton Dolezal, by far, were the best players out there tonight for the Birds. Both of these strong and athletic players won nearly every header by them. Aside from that, Dolezal's distribution (switching the field mostly) and dribbling under pressure were a key to HHS success tonight. It was cool to see how accurate his passes were under pressure. It is a pleasure to watch him when he plays with this kind of intensity and leadership. Definitely a contender for one of the top midfielders in NKY. Again, Gish and Dolezal used their unique corner play to draw NCC out of shape, which eventually got the game winner for HHS by Parker Smith! Overall, both sides played very physical. It is tough to see that many yellow cards and offsides in one match slow the level of play down. Excited for the District game coming soon! Well down, HHS and NCC.
  4. I know the game is not for another two days, but I want to see how the soccer fanatics on BGP think this game will pan out. It seems this match-up is the Kentucky crosstown showdown while always being very physical, intense, and extremely competitive. Excited to see about how it all goes down. Players to watch? NCC- Muck and Schultz duo. HHS- Dolezal, Gish, & Mills trio. I don't expect a blowout at all by either team. It seems to always be a closer game with plenty of excitement with these two teams.
  5. If you paid closer attention to the thread, you would have seen the excuse of CCH not playing their best 11 against Highlands, nor did their best player play in the game. Those are both excuses to the CCH lose. Who is this "best player" that did not play?? Stava, Vogt, and Lamb are arguably their best players by a mile.
  6. Can CCH supporters every take a lose without having an excuse for it??? Games are never officiated 100% correctly every time, but it doesn't mean that every game CCH fans need to find an excuse as to why they shouldn't have lost. Seen the excuses in the past two threads regarding both of their losses to HHS and Ryle.
  7. I do think that Cru has put together a solid team this year, but I also think there are better teams who can outperform them when it means the most. No matter what team comes out of Region 9, I will be happy for them. It is always nice seeing NKY teams at state. BUT my original three teams (CCH, Ryle, HHS), I think have the better chance at taking home the Region 9 title, and making a deep run at state. That is just my opinion. I do not have anything against Cru. Maybe I will be wrong about my prediction...
  8. While I do believe that CCH did have more possession in the first half of the game, at the same time, they didn't do anything with that possession. They had a couple of decent, half chances, but nothing threatening. HHS goalkeeper Paul Tully made a decent save towards the end of the 1st half that kept the game at 0-0. HHS came out strong for the first 10 minutes, but looked tired. Stava and Vogt kept the defense together nicely. For the second half, HHS came to play. Many combination plays between Dolezal, Gish, and Mills seemed to be the biggest threat of the game. Those three will make a deep run for HHS for the Region 9 title. I know Gish and Dolezal have combined for a majority of the assists for the team (I believe 15). Those three players combined for the game winning goal that was working beautifully from a corner kick. Gish played a short corner to Dolezal who took his sweet time, providing a tremendous cross. Mills did the rest and put HHS up 2-1. Overall, the game was very intense and exciting. Both teams have plenty of compliments to take away from this game. Region 9 is completely wide open. I expect CCH, Ryle, and HHS to be the top dogs this year.
