7th grade middle school State tournament Feb.5-7
Tressa Downs replied to Anvil Head's topic in Middle School Sports
Ockerman 7th grade team was in Lexington Friday evening ready to play and was told they were not allowed to play since all Boone County School acitivities were cancelled after 5pm. The coach even spoke with the school superintendent and was told they were "not to play" it's agianst school board policy. The 7th grade coach from Ockerman DID notify the KBA they were not allowed to play that evening. The same situation has happened today, Sat. since all Boone County School activities have been cancelled for the day. The Ockerman players, coaches and parents are extremely disappointed they cannot participate. -

What a FUN game to watch! Both teams played their hearts out and laid it on the line. Both coaches should be happy with their team effort. Very, very physical game. Boone just had too much depth for Ryle in this one. Ryle has no one to turn to on their bench to rest their starters. I wish all high school games were played with this much intensity. -
Boone Freshman and JV also won their games against Conner in the Triple header. JV game counted as first round of jv tourney. The JV team will play Holmes Wed. night, Feb. 3rd at BCHS, 6pm for round 2 of the JV tourney. Should be a good game with all the better teams on one side of the jv tourney bracket.

Should be very good Freshman Tournament. Boone County Freshman have lost to Scott (but beat them in Holy Cross tourney later), Highlands and Cooper. Boone beat Cov Cath in OT last night and Cov Cath has beat Highlands who beat Boone. Boone beat Conner, but lost to Cooper who Conner beat this week. -
Great to hear the redhead (Pinkston) had such a good game. Great kid with great grades, balanced personality and a team player. You gotta root for a young man like him!

Joey Lay for Boone (#50) played his best game of the year, finally feeling healthy. He completely shut down Thelan. WoW what a great job of defense. Cotton did a Great job defensivley on Wellbrock also and when Earls and Brown came in they picked up with the same instensity on "d" with CC's bigs. Welcome Back Mikey Gabbard!! Your intensity and focus showed tonight. If you lead the rest will follow! -
Top 5 Players in N KY:
Tressa Downs replied to That's Pat's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I agree best all around most versatile player at Boone is Montgomery. He can play any position on the floor. His passing skills at point guard are great which he has proven the past two years, he has major hops, did you see two blocks against Scott High) and is leading team in rebounds. He will shine his senior year at Boone. -

Did Moss and Davis go up against Towles down low? Was wondering how that went since these post players are regarded as some of the best in the 9th. How did Moss score all of her points? Looks like Davis had a lot of free throws. -
Boone County 67 Scott 50

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kids played more aggressive defense, shot the three and attacked the basket. Having depth with Lay and Earls back most certainly helps and also the three guard option with Popp, Gabbard and Schultz. The beauty of Earls being out is Boone has Trevan Brown in the mix and he can score. Great to see Earls and Brown on floor at same time. This gives Boone a lot of options with all of these players healthy and contirbuting. Attitudes and team play seemed more cohesive. Looks like they worked on a lot with the boys mentally and physically. Overheard one Mother say her son said he didn't have to tell her everything that was discussed in practice. lol sounds like they want parents attitudes out of the mix. lol -

When Boone creates turnovers/makes steels I've heard the coach screem multiple times "Go, Go, Go!" When the defense gets set up on Boone is when they are running set plays. Boone created a lot of turnovers against Conner.
