  1. Stuhr with 28......I'm guessing that Conner wishes they had those big guys instead of the 4 guard offense. I'm guessing that one bit Hicks in the butt.
  2. Lamblez........ see earlier post. As for the Cougars looking uninterested. There seems to be a lot going on with the team this year. They loose 2 big men (6'4") because the coach tells them that has decided to play a 4 guard offense this year and doesn't see them getting much time in games. Both quit over the holiday break....prior to the Lloyd tourney. The rest of team, including the underclassmen are tired of all the plays being run for Hemmerich to get his shots.....regardless of the defense on Hemrich or his shooting percentage for the night. Teams know that Hemnerich is the scorer so they adjust. If Conner doesn't have other offense then Hemmerich scoring 20+ they are doomed. There is a lot of turmoil in the shadows. I wouldn't be surprised if others leave or transfer before next season. Sit in the stands and you will hear a lot of disgust with the coaching.
  3. I dont get it...... He dribbles mostly with his head down and out of control. Almost always goes left and never looks for the open player when the defense collapses on him as he enters the lane. I believe if you were to ask his teammates you would probably get a different answer on how they get along. Conner doesn't play as a unit, they play as individuals. That is totally evident in watching them play and looking at the box scores. It will be another less than .500 year from Hicks.
  4. A good game last night and was very close until the end of the 3rd quarter. Conner had gone on a streak and pulled ahead by 6 I believe. Then Holmes went on a streak and slowly pulled ahead to a 10pt lead that Conner just couldn't rally to as the 4th quarter clicked away. As I said, a good game and well played by both teams. What is very disappointing is the fact that there was no trophy presentation, no MVP, no all tournament team. The buzzer sounded, kids shook hands and walked off the floor like it was a regular game. These kids work hard and it means a lot to them. There should be some recognition for the effort the two teams made to get to the finals. Just my opinion.
  5. Winner of Boone/Cooper from Friday night plays Conner Holmes/Simon Kenton on other side of bracket. Not sure of actual dates for the games. Conner plays Holmes in regular season on Feb 12. Not sure how that would factor into the whole thing. I'm guessing that if Holmes beats SK and Conner advances past Boone/Cooper winner that they would use the outcome of regular season game as tournament game and not schedule a final. Just thinking outloud, as the season is quickly coming to an end.
  6. Conner plays Calvary Christian tomorrow morning. I too am confused about how this all works out. Who made(makes) the brackets? Are they set up like normal tourney brackets so in the perfect world the number 1 seeds play for the finals, or is it just a hodge podge of teams? Why is it played in the middle of the season? Doesn't that make the remaining games after the tourney meaningless?
  7. The administration trys to run the school like a prison. They figure that if they don't allow even the smallest of individualism or school spirit, then they don't have to deal with any possible "issues" that may arise. Basically, they're lazy and try to rule with an iron hand. Higher administration is despised by most students, closely followed by the parents. They completely take the fun and pride out of sports or extracuricular events.
  8. Barker doubtful. I hear his back is still bothering him. Maybe out for a couple weeks.
  9. Conner really doesn't play a post game, or hasn't in the past. They have a couple juniors (Gilbreath, Yeager) of decent size that could help in the post. However, they have seen very little varsity time so it will take awhile for them to get adjusted. However, they are quite physical players and can play the post position. Conner just needs to take the ball inside more to help their outside game. Without the passes inside, the defense is going to stick close to Hemmrich. The 2 guards are not really consistent shooting guards so the defense will be able to cheat off of them.
  10. The girl injured at the game was released from the hospital and is home doing well. This was, what I hear her 5th concussion, so I'm not sure how that will affect her game time for the remaining year. She is a freshman that was seeing some occasional varsity time. I'm sure that family could continue to use everyones prayers that there is no lasting effects.
