  1. Division I -- Brandon Hatton (Dixie) and Division II -- Antonio Campbell (Holy Cross). Not to take away from these two young men (obviously fine basketball players with tremendous talent), but I am somewhat perplexed as to how they were awarded the Player of the Year honor over Nick Ruthsatz and James Bolden, respectively. Perhaps I do not understand the process of the selection for the Player of the Year. Could someone educate me? Thank you!
  2. The ticket sales line was a joke. Even at half time the line was across the bridge. That is just unacceptable. We arrived at 4:45 p.m. and waited in a line of about 40 people. I am thankful we got there at that point because within minutes it was at least 100+ people long. If there was another ticket counter/entrance open, the staff should have alerted all those folks waiting out there in the cold to buy tickets. A significant portion missed 1/2 of the game.
  3. I am a little confused (and maybe late to the party), but I thought he is a sophomore. Is he 17 years old and a sophomore?
  4. If you listen to the interview with Nick after the game, he DOES indeed practice that shot. Amazing skill, amazing decision making, beautiful shot. I agree with the disagreement about lucky shot. Hard work pays off with an awesome buzzer beater.
  5. The draw, maybe lucky, the game v. Holmes -- tenacity, skill, great D, great coaching, hard work, a lot of heart, and a beautiful shot at the end.
  6. Thank you. The video stream was less than optimal.
  7. Please confirm if this is the boys' draw. Thanks.
  8. Is this the boys' draw? Can someone confirm?
  9. Feed just came back up, and it looks like the boys coaches are gone? Boys' draw???
  10. The feed totally went out... Anything happening yet?
  11. Not to take anything away from Simon Kenton -- they played an incredible game. Congrats to them. However, I thought that you had to have at least .07 tenths to catch and shoot? The clock showed .05 tenths...?
  12. This CCH freshman team is as good if not better than last year's team. With the full complement of players healthy including Heppler and Sweeney, it's hard to imagine them losing in the final game. Had this team had all of these players(healthy) from the beginning of the season , I venture to guess that they would not have lost a game all season. Tommorrow's game will be a test of the team's desire to cut down the nets. There is no doubt that they have the horses to win. They just need to play witha total desire to win. The keys to the game will be the good guard play of Lenhoff and Flood. Heppler's post play supplemented by Young's post play should make the team unstoppable. If Sweeney plays like has been all tournament, CCH will be the odds on favorite to win. Strong bench play of Massie , Schrand and Beck will round out the team and most certainly will add the icing necessary to put the championship in the win column. Go Colonels!!!!!
  13. The Covington Catholic vs. Boone County game Monday evening should be a good one. The Rebels will looking for a big game from Nathan Schild and Jeff Purnell. The Colonels will need a big game from Heppler and Sweeney. Both teams are quick to basket. This game will come down to who wants it the most. The Colonels should not take this one for granted. The Rebels beat a very good Bulldogs team and a lackluster effort by the Colonels will put this one in the losing column. Flood and Lenhoff need to stimulate and run the offense with an eye toward dishing to Sweeney and Heppler. If Sweeney can slash and finish at the rim and Heppler can post and take the ball to his man, this should give the Colonels a decided advantage. Coupled with some quality post play by Young and Beck and the Colonels could run away. The Rebels certainly won't be giving any easy baskets, so all of the Colonels including those off the bench need to play hard.
