  1. I can dispel this rumor right now... We have already begun our offseason strength and conditioning, I have been stomping the halls trying to get players out and I feel confident that we are making strides to be a much improved football team for 2008! Our numbers are up and the spirits are high! Right now I am focused on one single thing... helping our kids. We obviously have a lot of discipline issues as well as hurdles in support but with time and hard work we will be back on the right track. This is a great place to coach and teach and I am honored to walk the same sidelines as past greats such as Reese and Goins. The only thing I'm looking to do JimmyV is help Paris win football games on a daily basis!

I wish all the luck to our district representative LCA this Friday and assure that we are working hard to get back into district contention!!!

  2. Coach Scenters is a great coach and better person... he will be a highly successful head football coach and Madison Southern would be smart to get him now. He is one of the smartest, hardest working and most dedicated individuals in Kentucky high school football. What's better, is that he is focused on putting the kids first! We should all be well aware by now that the Hilton's and Larkey's focus on that mentality first which then breeds winning. We've all heard several rumors surrounding the situation at Southern and the former coach and kids... everyone needs to get past that and focus on getting a great hire regardless of the past. I wish Southern the best in their search and hope they hire Scenters.

  3. Ole' Knute, ha... he makes a pretty good inference... the 04-05 HC team goes undefeated with this schedule until PT. The Knute clan did a great job getting that program headed in the right direction... almost too good! They will be tough for NO to beat next year and for years to come. Some serious middle school talent in the works up in HC. We hope to scrap it up with you in the preseason again... maybe this time ya'll will trade some film??? hahaha... all we can do is laugh! We'll come up there and be on time. We'll be sure to check references before we come up though... Great job Cats. Go get 'em this Friday.

  4. PT is big, fast and fast! HC has a ton of heart and determination... congrats to the wildcats for producing with an advantageous schedule! Anything can happen this Friday night. Some may feel that this matchup will be lopsided but it may very well be a war. Haven't seen PT in person like the Cats but if my Webster Co. connection is correct PT is headed for the pizza box... good luck to both teams for a healthy and competitive Friday! HC in a barnburner! :ylsuper:

  5. I can't wait for this game!!! Should be a war... Coach Martin has done an Awesome Job and North but he did a great job at Henry when he was there. His old influence at Henry may pay off for the Wildcats tonight. Those HC kids are some of the toughest around! No picks... everyone should come watch this one! Good luck to both teams for a safe and fun night!!!

  6. This thread is rediculous... I'll partake in the discussion at hand. Raceland better be careful... Nicholas is better than previous years. Comparing them on film was like apples and oranges from previous years to this year. I really respect both programs and expect a war in this one. As usual... whoever travels usually has some lag. Raceland is so well coached it's tough to bet against them. Good luck to both programs!

As for the racial slurs, outbursts, lack of control by the staff, Bourbon Co... leave that for the watercoolers or start a thread ladies and gentlemen. This Thread is Raceland/Nicholas... want to discuss the program at Paris, my office is down at Blanton Collier.

Good luck Jackets and Rams... We have a lot of respect for both programs. Good luck on the rest of the season! :ylsuper:

  7. We aren't proud in the least of the way things may have 'looked' Friday night at Montgomery County... but there are several facts about this incident that the Indian/Trojan faithful obviously don't know about. We have had a serious problem with not only parents but random observers making their way onto our sidelines. Julian Tackett (KHSAA president) addressed this issue in the preseason and let all head football coaches know that any incident on the sideline will go against THE HEAD COACH. Having people down on the sidelines supporting us is one thing... but having random parents and other bystanders under the abuse of drugs or alcohol is simply not tolerable! Unfortunately I did not catch wind of this situation until the half and with the departure of my Athletic Director I was forced to act when the situation worsened. What is perceived as a 'meltdown' was a coach trying to protect his players and his tail. I will not stand for any unruly behavior by anyone on our sideline simply because I will be held accountable when a drunk or controlled substance addict approaches a player for either team and taunts him or God forbid does something worse! I have done my best to prevent this situation from getting out of hand and will do a better job preventing situations like this in the future. No Montgomery County supporter has taken note that the final person that approached our sideline WAS under the abuse of a controlled substance and WAS TAKEN TO JAIL! I will step up and protect my kids every time a situation like this occurs and I do truly apologize to the Montgomery faithful for what happened. We were in the game and it is a shame that our kids did suffer because of the actions of some random addict. We wish the best to Montgomery County throughout the rest of their season and feel that the 'Throw Back' night was a huge hit. You have a beautiful venue and we look forward to having an opportunity to play again in the future. MC is all class and I assure all that we are striving to create that type of environment here at Paris. It will definitely be a marathon and not a sprint.

  8. I agree... I do think we we're a little fired up in the preseason but that had a lot to do with some kids that aren't playing for us. Preseason eligibility issues caught us looking the other way. If some of our 'extremely gifted' kids would have taken care of business in correspondence this summer we could have been a much more dangerous team! The scope of Kentucky football is so limited... people quickly forget that I coached in Florida before I took the job at Paris and sent over 6 kids to play scholarship football. The best player in Kentucky is about one in a thousand in Florida. One kid we lost here was as talented as any I have ever seen... (i.e., ask Bath County). It's a real shame that we lost him. We have done the best we can with the cards that we have been dealt and granted... they have been some tough ones. We will come out Friday fired up and ready to compete. I tip my cap to Coach Vanderhoof and his staff, Raceland is one of the most well coached teams I've ever faced! They truly get the best out of their kids. All I can hope is that we can do the same here at Paris. Have a safe trip down tomorrow Rams and let's have a great game!

  9. No Excuses... Nicholas flat out beat us. I tip my cap to Coach Hop and the obvious job that he has done with his kids in the offseason! We wish them luck the rest of the year.

Two things have really hurt us... Injuries and Eligibility. We look forward to getting better every week. With a great offseason we will have an opportunity to compete.

As for the ejections... complete lack of class by a couple of our players. We have worked hard to teach our kids class and competitiveness. As with all things, it will take time and dedication. Our seniors will step up and lead the way.

Our district is full of great matchups this week... we wish everyone a healthy Friday night!

  10. During my stint in Florida we played Pahokee twice (# 14 in the nation) and they are everything advertised if not better. The Receiver, Odem, should be the highest touted receiver in the nation. His speed, quickness and leaping ability are like no other player I have ever seen or played against. They have a football factory at Pahokee... several starters off the 2005 team that we faced are starting at various division I schools across the nation such as Pittsburgh, Georgia, Cal and of course FIU - FAU and Miami. The strangest thing I have ever seen was the fact that when we left Pahokee they defeated us 38 - 7 and on the way out there were a group of high school kids at a corner store that could have easily been Division I football players... these we're the ineligible students. The kids there are made for football! I wish them luck and hope they continue to dominate Florida football. They play with heart, desire and most importantly... CLASS!

  11. I appreciate the welcome RAM and I look forward to a great year for our district. Undoubtedly, we did have some early woes against North Oldham but I believe that is what the preseason is for. My hat goes off to Coach Martin, his staff and players... they have obviously worked very hard in the off-season and we will be pulling for them throughout the year. We are assessing the damage and doing everything we can to get better. Our kids are learning a new system on both sides of the ball and I couldn't be happier that some of our weaknesses have been exposed. Now we can focus on the techniques we lack and fine tune our schemes as coaches and players.

I would love to send our support to Coach Fields and his staff at Bath County as well. They have worked overwhelmingly hard on their new facility and we we're lucky enough to scrimmage there this preseason. He cares more about Bath County football than just about anything and as a friend I hope they have a healthy and successful season.

As a whole, we will continue to focus on the task at hand here at Paris and try to rekindle that Paris Pride! Some of the greats have walked the sidelines here... Buchanan, Reese, Goins, Collier, and Arnsparger. It is an honor to work for this school system as a Coach and Teacher and I hope to make all the great men that have ventured these sidelines and the entire Paris community proud of our program.

  12. On behalf of the entire Paris football community and football staff I would like to start by saying that we have the upmost respect for Coach Buchanan and his program at Mason County. It is an honor for someone like myself, getting my head coaching start at Paris High School as Coach Buchanan did, to have the opportunity to not only play against Coach B and his fine program but hopefully have him as a friend and resource in the future. We at Paris look forward to the challenge and are facing this game with nothing but respect for the Mason County Program. As for what the Mason fanbase will use to motivate their players... I'm not sure, but I am positive that the only statements that I or my staff have made about Mason County is the fact that they have a tough, hard nosed football team that will be ready for a war come Saturday!

I appreciate all the knowledgable fans out there that respect the fact that we are very fast... not as fast as some bloggers would imagine, but fast. We hope to match up with Mason in this facet and bridge the gap between their size and obvious strength with our quickness. Not an easy task to say the least. I and hopefully all the fans out there look forward to this game with proper sportsmanship and class. We at Paris are working hard to build a dignified/respected program and I look forward to building postive relationships with all Kentucky coaches and the passionate High school football fanbase. For me and the staff here at Paris, we want first to develop fine young men and work hard to compete in the process.

I want to wish all Kentucky High School football programs a healthy and productive first week and I can't wait untill kickoff this weekend.

    Cordially,

    Coach Thompson
