    Only 9 games???

  2. In Jefferson County, I believe that Manual has prospered due to the high cost of Private schools more than anyone due to the "perceived" excellence of education and no tuition. However, we all know you get what you pay for, or, what you don't pay for.

Those that choose private schools usually do this with out the cost as a consideration, but, the quality of education and the quality of the athletic programs. Manual has gotten more parochial school kids in recent years than any one outside the private system.

  3. Next years secondary might be better than last. The Qb position, wide receiver position and the RB position will be very good. As for the defense in general, very good. The OL is the only ?? in the equation and the two O guards will be solid in Ervin and karrer. The kicking game is great with the same guy who has done this for the last two years and some even his frosh year. St X does not punt much! Brohm will play somewhere. Maybe tight end at 6' 190 lbs. good athlete. LB's will be very good. The schedule is not that of Trinity or even Manual, but, Trinity is the only obstacle again.

  4. Once again, X loses 46 seniors off last year's team including 9 starters on offense and 8 starters on defense. This happens each year. The senior class to be has a lot of talent and many of them had plenty of playing time last year. As usual, X will field a very competitive team.

  5. I'm not surre on the final number but I believe it was in the ball park between 6-8 points. He didnt shoot well at all from 3 point range but when he got inside he made some nice mid range shots along with floaters. He plays some pretty good defense as well. Coming into the game he was averaging 8.3 ppg as a frosh

How many shots could he have made if he only had 6 points? Last name does not mean he will be any good. From what I saw, he hurt T's chances more than helped and yes, he did carry the ball most of the time. TOO MUCH STREET BALL TYPE OF PLAYER. Needs to get better at fundamentals or he will be out played.

  6. After watching a lot of X basketball the past several years and watching this team so far this year, I would say that X is often overlooked and not considered competitive given their region. No X is never going to be a 7th region favorite over teams such as Ballard, Manual, Eastern, Male, Trinity, and so on, but they can very much be a darkhorse that can spoil a season for a big team. I think this 08-09 team will surprise a lot of people this year, probably winning games that shouldn't be close. You can't get lazy on this tiger squad, they may be the scrappiest bunch to roam the halls of a poplar level school. X also tends to play very well in this tournament, I know they upset LexCath in front of a sell-out crowd 2 years ago. Look for Monday night to be interesting.

Also, What kind of squads does Madisonville and LCA have? I saw Madisonvilles record, but I have a feeling that their record doesn't reflect the quality of their team. I know they played in the KOB tourney as well.

    Go TIGERS!!

Madisonville is 3-6 and LCA is 1-5.

  7. Thomas will be a Senior and they will have another strong Senior class on Defense that has played as a unit as Freshmen and two seasons of JV ball. On Offense they need to find a center, guard and tackle to step up. Kragthorpe took all the snaps on JV and will have alot of targets to keep Coach Beatty and Coverdales high powered offense running smooth. There's only a hand full of Juniors to be Nix, Kragthorpe, Meyer and Smith that got much playing time as Sophomores. Next years Sophomore class will be strong but as Coach Beatty likes to say, "they're just Sophomores". Several will get opportunities on special teams but will spend the majority of their time playing JV ball. The Quest for 20 and 5 in a Row has already begun. They're already in the weightroom getting ready. Go Rocks!

    THOMAS WHO ?

  8. Sorry, just saw this.

This game vs. Manual will be Week 3 of the season for both OH and KY. In 2009 it will be at Colerain. However, I believe in 2010 we will be gassing up the buses and heading south on 75/71 to Manual to play.

Which leads me to another question: How many NON-Manual fans show up for this game? I know everyone will focus on their teams that night but if your school has a pushover opponent at home or they are traveling too far for you to drive, would you consider heading over to Manual and seeing the Cardinals play? Would some T or X fans like to see what all the fuss is about??

I ask because I don't remember the last time Colerain ever traveled INTO KY to play a varsity contest. In fact, I don't know that it's ever happened.

Week three next year in Louisville has St X Cincy coming to louisville to play St X louisville that same night. That would probably be THE GAME of the evening to attend. It is only about three to four blocks away from where manual plays their home games. So, attendance would be up to Manual to bring and not depend on others to be there.

  9. 7-3 maybe 8-2. Lost to much firepower to make a serious run at a championship. I'm not sure but I think Cincy St.X has been added to next seasons schedule and maybe another Cincy school. This team will be soilid but not championship caliber.

From what I have seen, if not next year it will not happen for a long time. The senior class & junior class next year are solid, but, the younger classes are questionable.

  10. All of the 6A schools should gear up for the 2009 season as it looks to be a year that both Trinity and St. X will be retooling more than usual at many positions. Life at Trinity without Tim Phillips and most of the defense will be interesting and I believe a huge challenge for the coaches. At St. X replacing the best RB ever in their program and most of the rest of their team will also prove to be a big challenge. Not that these coaching staffs aren't up to the challenge, just that young and inexperienced players all over the field will be interesting to watch and hard to count on.

If the public powers don't win next year then they never will.

EVERY YEAR T & X graduates 50 seniors. If you look closely at both rosters, you will see that both teams look better off next year than they did a year ago at this time. GOOD LUCK!
