  1. Great Scrimmage! Both teams looked really impressive.

Woodford Co ran a GREAT ball control offense! At one point in the 2nd qtr, they ate up 7 mins of clock time. I am not sure the name of the QB, but I would guess he had 200 yrds passing by halftime.

#42 for Woodford (Sorry did not get his name) looked very good on defense. I was extremly impressed with W.C. They are only going to get better........!

GRC had several outstaning players in this game. #10 (M. Clark) had 55 yrd run on the second play. Ran a kick-off back for a TD, but it was called back on a penalty. TE #38 Z. Hardiman had a impressive game with 4 catches/85 yrds. GRC offesive line looked very impressive again giving Douige Mason plenty of time to throw. Defense had many great plays, but must continue to defend the pass better.

This game was ended early due to time limits (Freshman and JV payed during halftime), but I would have loved to see it play the entire 48 minutes. It would have gone donw to the wire and been a great game!

I will be rooting for Woodford for the rest of the season (When not cheering on the Cards!!!!)

  2. With my GRC Cards it is too early to tell. We could go 8-2.... losses to Henry Clay and Scott Co or we could also lose to Madison Central, Tates Creek, and Shelby Co. Think we will win the rest.

This years schedule is the toughest GRC has played in quite a few years. If the defense gets settled, and the passing game continues to improve then they can easily be 8-2. GRC has great recievers to pass to is the QB will look at all passing options.

But if they don't play to their potential, they can easliy end up 3-7. I think this Friday's scrimmage with Woodford will also tell a great deal. But they need to focus on one game at a time.

  3. I see the Montgomercy Co / GRC match up in the Rec. Bowl on Aug 25th as a good one. This will be a very tough contest given the schools rivalry in the past. This will also be a great view of what to expect for the rest of the season (For both schools). I look for a physical contest, with GRC pulling away late in the game.

  4. Whitley Co scored at least 4 times. (I think 5 but I am not positive). Most were impressive runs, and one wide-open pass reception. I am sorry I can't give you player #'s. (They were wearing practice jerseys).

I was impressed with WC running offense. Alot of the back had strong runs, and great second effort when hit. I am not sure what type of backfield setup they had, but it did give GRC some fits until they got adjusted.

Highlights were also a great showing and effort by the JV and Freshman teams. They really hustled in the heat, and played with heart. (both teams).

  5. The Cards looked very solid in their first scrimmage. Many highlighted areas. The offensive line looked very good, and gave Mason plenty of time to throw the ball. He had scoring strikes to #10 Clark, #38 Hardiman and #20 Thomas. He looked very good but still needs to look to the #2 & #3 recievers when the primary is covered. Running game was solid Clark Co running.

Defense is still working on gelling, and is forming. #79 Fox did a great job on a very tough Whitley Co offensive line. They have tremendous speed in the secondary, and their D-line looked great. The linebackers will need to keep working to come up to speed.

I think they did very well against a solid Whitley co team.
