I'm pretty sure these are the first round matchups.
I'm also pretty sure that all first round games are suppsed to be played by today.
Villa plays Simon Kenton today at 4 at Villa.

It is my opinion that the people of Ludlow aren't happy unless they are watching Knothole baseball, riding their motorcycles, or trying to run coaches out of town. The fact of the matter is your boy's team had success with outstanding talent several years ago, but other schools have gotten better talent and your talent has dropped off.
Get off of your horse, motorcycle, school board seat and the bleachers and get behind the programs. This has gone on way to long.

I think its funny that Ludlow's coach was one of the best in the region two/three years ago but now we're insinuating that he may be the problem down there.
I think Coach Highfield is doing a great job with what he's got.

Villa should be worried. Last year the BlueLightning won a barn burner in the first game and Ludlow got them back in the All A and for the second game.
You're right, Ludlow will be back looking to avenge the loss earlier in the season and I wouldn't pick Villa to be the favorite just yet.
However when Bryan, Love and Hamilton playing well and together they are hard to stop.
-
In addition to up and coming players:
1.) Blake Bryan - point guard on much improved Villa Madonna team. Great scorer and hard to stop.
Best player you've never heard of:
1.) Brian Hamilton - also a Villa Madonna player. Great rebounder, defender and can put it in the basket when he needs to.
-
IMO the guard for Bellevue, Derek Bryan is one of the better defenders in the region and with Coach Vories and co. working with him offensively could make him a top ten guard this coming season...
Hey....grizzly adams DID have a beard!

Wow, what if Holmes and the Grovers fall into the same bracket? YIKES....
Holmes doesn't want to see the Grovers.
I'm sure they're shaking in their hightops.

Ummm.... don't agree... I don't know who their nice transfer is, but Love is a streaky shooter that likes to slice to the basket... thats about it. He scored a lot but he shot a lot too... Hamilton? I am significantly familiar with this conference and don't remember a this name... Beechwood returns a lot of players and the best player in the division going in in Hall, so they have to be the favorite, and Calvary does return everyone except a rugged inside presence, so I can see them being up there, but beyond that it is a toss up, with possibly a slight edge to Villa because they return a lot of guys.... and maybe Ludlow because of Rouse, Logan, and Williamson, then i'd say Bellevue,Dayton, and Heritage, who all lost big players but have potential coming back, and then Grove who lost everything in Wiseman and Pelle, but do return a capable go to guy in Steve Pelle...
I'd have to go with Beechwood too.
Hall is a streaky shooter too but when he's hot he's deadly.
With Romes and other transfers coming in to Beechwood they're going to be the team to beat.
I think its a toss up b/t Calvary and Villa for the number two spot. Then Ludlow, Belevue, Dayton Heritage and the Grove (not in that order though)
I don't think the grove will be that bad....its true Steve Pelle's all they have to hang their hat on but they are tough kids and play hard. but it'll be tough for them after losing the older Pelle.

I'd love to see the tigers make a run this year too bad they'll run into CovCath in the districts
Hoops1111 I'd love to see Villa make a run this year
Is there a D3 team who's ever made it out of the districts?
What is the farthest a D3 team has ever made it in the tournament?
Just wondering.

Pray that Randy Moss has a son who plans to attend school there.
Heritage is one of those schools I always root for.
They're such a small school and play in a crackerbox gym but they always play hard even when they're out matched athletically and physically.
Even though there were only a few people in Newport's gym last year in the All A -- the place was hopping when they almost upset Beechwood in the All A last year. I think they were up about 9 with 2 minutes left.
-
I saw a kid from Villa at the newport league this summer who looked pretty tough. I don't know if he'd make top 10 in the 9th region, but he looked good against the wildcats.
-
So would Beechwood be the frontrunner in D3 this year?
Or will Calvary give them a run for their money?

The third entry down talks about the new coach at Beechwood.
Good luck Coach Schumate.

I remember hearing rumblings about what a good coach Highfield was his first year when Pennick (sp) and company were around and there didn't seem to be as much knocking on the coach down at Ludlow. And the rumblings probably weren't about the best in the region but for DIII schools. I could be mistaken but I just found that funny.
