  1. I can't vote in this poll because I need a both. A good coach will know when he needs to play man or zone based on his team and his opponent. I have seen coaches who would rather lose than go zone and do so. I just don't get it.

Coach Hicks has won two state championships with a man only philosophy.....and a couple of Mr. Basketballs :)

  2. I would say it could lean either way but most will choose man. It really depends upon how your team is built and how you match up against your opponent. For example, you can't play Holmes man to man because they get most their points off of penetration, transition, and offensive boards.

Some coaches go man or zone every game no matter the opponent. I would guess you don't agree with that?

  3. Dont forget Scott Counties two best players Phares and Guyn!:thumb:

Waterboy- What are they doing with season ticket holders tickets for this game? Do they get in at Memorial with that ticket? I wish they would leave it in Georgetown. I would have left the game in Georgetown.

I believe they will have a parking area as well as a reserved seat in memorial...

  4. Dont' get me wrong, I do like the idea of a middle school state tournament in this format. I would like to see it at the end of the season instead of the beginning though. Middle school football had a state tournament on Nov.1 to finish off the year. I went to it and it was a great environment and a lot of fun for the kids. You had teams who had completed an undefeated regular season playing against other similar teams. Playing the basketball state tournament in December instead of February would be like playing the football state tournament in September. It wouldn't be quite the same.

I agree, kind of hard to play a state championship the first month of your season.......

  5. If they turn 15 before Aug. 1 of their 8th grade year, then by the time they are seniors they would be ineligible per KHSAA rules. So, I agree that rule should be in place. No reason to be eligible in middle school if you can't play as a senior in high school.

Having said that, I very doubt the Shelton kid or many kids have to worry about this. You would have to be held back 2 years in most cases for this to come into play.

I meant 15 after August 1st, my bad.....

  6. FYI I posted this in KYMSFA Thread as well...On a side note in December 09 the KABC is planning a Middle School Basketball Sweet 16 with regional tournaments and all, there will be regional hosts and a Sweet 16 at Frankfort Civic Center. This is as close to it gets as "real"....unfortunatley some schools/conferences (fayette) will not allow them to participate as they do not start basketball until Jan.......there will always be exceptions!

  7. All good qualities.

Also, knowing that people didn't come to see you officiate.

Be accessable to coaches and players.

I think alot of officals forget that they are there as a service to the players and the coaches. They should, when app., offer explainations to players and coaches about their calls so proper adjustments can be made so the same violation doesn't occur again.
