    :D

Can someone clarify if rain-out days do not count as pitcher rest days??:confused:

  2. I was making a point. I am surprised at you tonight TOG, you usually call a spade a spade. Your team got smoked today and I fully expected you to come on here tonight and say so.

I too am surprised and quite frankly disappointed in TOG. I usually look forward to his detailed, often biased, but normally accurate reporting of games. You get the "good" the "bad" and details of both teams hitting, etc.

Not tonight......just banter, excuses, and what-ifs???

And to the comment by someone on the CCH players being exhausted from working on he field.....give me a break. With the weather that all teams have experienced, every team has spent many hours prior to games getting fields ready. Suck it up and play....if not cancel the game beforehand if that is your concern.

Nice win Ryle and tough loss Cov. Cath. Move on to the Districts.

  3. Ryle's field on its worst day is still a better option than Conner's on its best. Not sure what your issue was with Ryle's field, but it is in quite nice shape this year, especially the infield.

Maybe "Camel 1505" could arrange to have the whole thing moved to the hill in Campbell County......

  4. You would never set up a bracket like this. You have to assume the #3 will (should) beat #5, so that means you would have given the top seed a tougher opponent than the #2 seed.

Basically, in a 5-team tournament such as this, the #4 vs. #5 game is like a "play-in" game to get it down to four teams. It's really the only fair way to do it.

Makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

  5. So what you are saying is that it should be

    1 gets bye

    2 v 5

    3 v 4

But in that scenario 1 would get a bye to the championship, while 2 and 3 would have to play two games to get there- which means a harder road for the 2 and 3 (because they have to use more pitchers)

    In this scenario

    1 v (4 v 5 winner)

    2 v 3

There is no bye, only a harder road for the teams that didn't get it done in the regular season

    Makes sense. Another scenario is:

    1 v (3 v 5 winner)

    2 v 4

The #1 still gets benefit of playing the winner of the lower seeded teams.

Does anyone know if there are established seeding rules?

  6.

What time did the parents come for a 7:00 game? If I am not mistaken NKY got hit between 6 - 6:30 with the rain. Some people are always going to look for something to complain about. I just think it would have been difficult to get umpires for a game that was originally scheduled for 7 to be here by 4:30 for a 5:00 game. It is not like there is an abundance of umpires to go around.

I personally know someone that happened to be at CC High School around 3:00 and drove completely around the field. Players in full Camel game uniforms were on the field practicing and it was definitely playable. The sun was out and the weather was great at that time. That person was not sure if it was JV or Varsity.

If it walks like a duck....quacks like a duck.....it is usually a DUCK... Could it be some "ducking" was going on????

  7. As did DD. Nice solo shots by Charlie "who luvs ya" Lovan and Gus " murray power" Murray.

DD someone who was there mentioned to me that one of the Dingers was not a solo shot? I want to make sure my namesakes are properly recorded. Can someone clarify and give more details on the game. Since CCHS or Beechwood were not playing I am sure we will see little about the game in the paper.

  8. He does do a good job of keeping us less fotunate fans informed. He can be a little heavy on the Malie stuff, but the information is appreciated.

Still no detail from TOG on this game? Could it be he is not only a "little heavy on the Malie stuff" but also on CCH wins and not the losses? The Enquirer reporting seemed to follow the same pattern this week? Anyone else notice the same thing?

  9. :sleep::sleep:

Ryle 6 CovCath 5, or how one team took advantage of their chances while the other team didn't.

After I eat, I will post the good, the bad for CovCath and boxscore.

I am getting sleepy waiting on TOG to finish eating and to file his fine report on the good, bad, and ugly of this game. Going to bed....guess I will have to wait until tomorrow...

  10. Thought you had to play in something like 25% of the varsity games to be frozen.

I would hope some of the "baseball experts" on this wonderful website could clear up Dandy's question on transfers?? Can you dress varsity as long as you don't play etc. Could someone please review the rules?

I have heard that (CCHS) Isler's little brother is a freshman at Ryle... does that mean he can transfer to CCHS without penalty of time off and loss of eligibility as long as he hasn't entered a varsity game?

  11. You obviously have not been to the other schools weight rooms and locker rooms. Ryle has the best ones and it is not even close. And if they were so bad they would have been the number one priority for fundraising, not the football/soccer field. Because you already had the best field IMO.

Also, upgrades to the locker rooms would have benefited the most students. Because I do not think the turf benefits any of the other sports you mentioned like baseball, softball, cross country, and even track, the turf will not have much of an impact on those sports as would new locker rooms or weight room.

I have seen the St. Henry's baseball complex.....can someone tell me why girl's softball and baseball in NKY suffers compared to this facility, and many in the state for that matter? I wonder if any of the Ryle money is going to improve at least one other quality softball/baseball facility with proper drainage, lights, seating, and other facilities that could be used by all in the area. Most football fields have lights, tracks have proper surfaces, and soccer, football, track, and cross-country can be held in bad weather much easier than softball and baseball. I hope Ryle, and others involved in these type fundraisers, share the wealth. Shame on them if they don't. It is amazing that NKY has competed as well as it has in softball and baseball with such poor facilities. It is embarrassing compared to what you see in many areas of the metropolitan area and the state.

  12. They lost 8-0, playing a very poor game. Luke Bray didn't have his usual good stuff (walked a bunch) and the Royals left six runners in scoring position the first 3 innings. The pitcher from Midland was throwing in the high 80's with a good slider (I am sure he is going D1 somewhere) and after we let him of the hook in the first few innings he settled down and pitched very well. It's not like they hit our pitchers hard or alot, they got some timely hits after walks and that's how they got their runs (6 of their 8 runs were in the first 3 innings).

Thanks for the update. Good luck to all the teams in Nashville!
