  1. I dont think that the bus ride will have anything to do with the outcome of the game. I heard from a reliable source that Ballard is driving down Friday and staying the night at the Laurel Gorge Inn. They should have time to get over the car sickness some have mentioned. Good luck Elliott!!! If Elliott keeps from turning the ball over more than 10 times and the rebounds are close to even then I will take Elliott by 3-5 points. But my prediction is Ballard by 7 points

  2. If Elliott is hitting 35-40% of there 3-point shots in this game I think that it will be a close game with one of them winning by 3 or fewer. If Elliott is not shooting well from beyond the Arc then I see this game being a 20 to 30 point game. I hope not though.......good luck Elliott. It will be a tough win for Elliott because Mason is a good rebounding team and they do not turn the ball over that much. That means that Elliott will have fewer second chance shots and fewer possesions due to Mason turning the ball over fewer times that most teams that play against Elliott.

  3. This was a one point game last year. Considering East and Morgan score was 47-38, this could be a major clash in playing styles. It is also a district game and a rivalry game. It comes right after a big win over the Number 1 team in West Virginia and right before the trip to the beach. East is a well coached, disciplined team that plays solid defense. This game has DANGER written all over for Elliott County if they don't have thier minds on their business.

I agree with you matlock. I hope that Elliott will have thier mind on the game at hand. I venture to say that they will though since this is a rivalry. Good luck Elliott. My guess is Elliott 88 and East Carter 73. I think they will play them closer than any game they have plays thus far.

  4. This game will be the turning point in the season for UK. I believe we will see a much improved team once the Louisville game rolls around. This team will compete for the SEC championship. They have improved every single game, there's no telling what the confidence of this comeback will do for the team.

I hope that you are right. I dont think that it will be the turning point though. Kentucky Still has no movement on offense and they still struggled everyplay to get the ball up the court and make the first pass to start there half court offense. We are putting allot on the point gaurds who just are not capable of handling it. Porter has no excuse but liggins does and I think he needs to be the one getting the minutes now because he has the potential to become a good point gaurd. In all honesty there is no potential in porter. I will give him credit that he is a tough kid and does play with heart but talent wise he isnt there. I think that Miller is going to be a special player also. I feel that we have some really good players but we just dont have the personel to distribute the ball to them at the right times when they are in position to score. Once these younger players get the experience, I think this will be a special group of young men. I also think that we will see patterson stick around another year because his stock has dropped this year already.

  5. We'll get to find out a lot more about this team when they face an opponent that can actually defend. I see a lot of similarities in UK and UC, and I think both have a lot of questions to be answered when it comes to scoring in the half court...

This team they played is going to be one of the better defensive teams as far as the back court that they will see. This is one of the few teams that constantly pressure the ball. I agree with you that the game may be different when they play a team with good post defense and peremiter defense. I am anxious to see how they play next friday. VMI last year was the highest scoring offense in the nation.

  6. I was very impressed with Darius. I didn't expect him to be as ready and mature as he seemed to be last night. I understand that the talent level they were playing wasn't the best but it is still his first college game and he stood the test as far as I am concerned. He showed nice hustle and played composed and let the game come to him......Him and Harrelson will be my favorites this season........well after Patrick and Jodie of course.

  7. Why shouldn't they have to prove themselves? They stopped after their freshman year and think they deserve to just be able to walk in and say "hey i'm back for senior year, time to play!" That is not right to the boys who have worked their butts off for the other two years. I don't think they should be chased off, especially if they went to summer workouts and conditioning. But I do think they need to earn their right to play again.

:thumb: I agree with you exactly. I was a player that sat out a year and tried coming back. When I tried to come back my senior year to play I felt like I should run harder, play harder and have to do more work because I missed a whole year of what my teammates went through. I felt like I was behind on my skills, conditioning and just a step slow. All I am saying is that I bet the other teammates that have been there the last 2 years would be upset if one of these kids got to play and they didnt. Maybe this was a way for the coach to see if the other teammates would step up and run with them or say something on there behalf. Maybe he was just seeing if the rest of the team wanted these kids on the team? He could have been trying to build some team chemistry? You never know unless you are there witnessing the whole situation. If the coach is doing this to try and run these kids off and doesnt have any other expanations then I do think it is wrong. I also think that we question what or why coaches do somethings maybe a little bit to much. Maybe we should trust our caoches a little bit sometimes.

IMO, you do have to help off of Miller, no matter who is helping. When your a heavy underdog like Elliott County was you kinda have to play the percentages. Would you give Miller a 100% two points, because once he got to the basket there was nothing Elliott County could do to stop him nor was there anything Elliott could do to stop him from getting to basket with just one man, or give Setty a three and let him hit one of two, if he does shoot 50%. Just to prove my point, if Setty shoots two 3's and Miller shoots two lay-ups, by the percentages your giving up 3 points by helping and 4 points by not helping. I think you have to take your chances with Setty hitting those 3's opposed to Miller shooting lay-ups, JMO. :thumb:

Great Post. I believe that you had to make a choice on who to help off of and by the percentages I believe the correct defense was played. Good luck Next year Elliott and thanks for a great season!!

  9. I say congratulations to a very fine team that is fun to watch. I hope they make a very deep run in March.

As to the folks from schools accustomed to beating Elliott who are now on the receiving end, just relax. The criticism isn't really about "running up the score". It is about being beaten by someone who "isn't supposed to beat us".

The natural order will probably be restored when these kids graduate. It always amuses me when these larger schools who have a history of success get their feathers ruffled when the smaller schools have a once in a generation team and beat them a few times. They seem to think this signifies the end of the world or something. Just take a deep breath and try to enjoy someone else's success.

This is probably the true'est and best post I have ever seen on here. Great post and I agree 100%.
