When two jobs are involved yes I believe Owsley has a reason to be irked a little. It is geting close to opening day. Jobs have to be posted for 30 days so yea there is a little reason. I don't believe it is Dougs fault and me too I hope him the best. I'll just be glad when it is over.

I ment to say in the above I agree 100%

I cannot believe it--wait--yes I can believe it----July 15th--A decision being made on the last day allowed by law in order for a teacher to be released from a contract--if the sending school should choose to not release a teacher. Today's talk indicates that the Board Chair has given in to the hiring of Noble as the coach at BHS--simply for the politics and the fact that Whitaker's price tag was way out of the budget range??? From the talk that I have heard, the Owsley folks are anxious to move on in a new direction---and Breathitt's deliberate delay has not delayed the plans for a Noble replacement--afterall, if someone does not appreciate having a secure coaching position and prefers to be a second choice for another team--good luck! Hope it last for at least one season!:dancingpa The sad part is what this type of action does to KIDS! -
That is very true. There are some people in the school system that could do it too. They would have support too. I know several people that would help them that would not need any pay from the school system just to see the program built back up. I hope this comes to pass.
-
100% true. I don't even know if Owsley's system should want him back. This is know way to do a school system. Make your choice.

Dan Marshall is looking good for Owsley. A good guy and he will be around for awhile in my opinion.
-
Who would want the job? It would be temporary and no long term committment from anyone! Any one who has a stable coaching job and position in education right now had better stay put. In case we haven't noticed, every school district in the state is facing cuts and the possibility of losing teachers. I would not want to be an educator and my living depending on my teaching job but my future in education based on my coaching job. Young coaches should be wary of old hornets nests that stay stirred up year in and year out!
How true this statement is. I would hate for my job to depend on coaching. Lets face it there is always someone out there as good or better and if you don't have continuing contract righ now you could be looking for a job.

Well said Augger

Lets get it over with hire someone so life in both counties can get back to normal. Hopefully If Noble does leave, Owsley will hire someone from within the school system so they will stay awhile and build the program up again if it can be. Maybe a Dan Marshall who helped Tim Bob a few years. Its going to take a few years whoever gets it. Who knows maybe Gary Cornett who coached the girls for the last half of the season last year. Just talking in case Noble does leave Owsley. Doc. Mayes might come out of retirement who knows.

Which ever way he goes I for one wish him the best. Basketball coachs come and go there will always be another one, but Doug really seems to be a good guy and would be missed in our school system.

I have a question for someone can a prinicpal in a school system also coach. I have heard both sides and I am not sure which is right.
-
I have to go with Owsley.
-
They are winners to me too. No question about it.
-
Sorry Jordan Hardy and Zack Taylor didn't mean to forget you. I was talking about the 10th graders this year. I always think about Hardy being a baseball player anyway.

That JV team has some heart:
G-Devin Evans
G-Nick Noble
F-Timmy Murrell
F-Travis Murrell
G-Tyler Williams
They will give you all they have. Owsley will be alright.
-
Timmy Murrell is doing really well love to watch the kid play. He tries hard every min. he is on the floor. What more can you ask of a kid.
-
Rick Mount
Dewight Lamar
These two had the best jump shots I ever saw.
-
Who knows what will happen but I am sure the right decisions will be made.
-
I thought Harris had a nice game too. Nice win .
-
He sure did. He was also a excellent vollyball coach. I hope he does well where life takes him.
-
Me too Augger, although that is serious enough.

Starting doesn't mean a thing. It was obvious that once the lineup with Meeks, Jasper, Crawford, Bradley, and Patterson was in the game together it produced a spark. Even if they don't start, this is our best lineup and it needs to be used early if not at the start. That is if everyone is healthy!
Thats what i was trying to get across it really doesn't matter who he starts. I think the five mentioned above will get the most playing time.
-
I think he will start who he wants to. He has made that clear so far this season.

I have a question should a player be praised for not practicing hard or being late. I know it has been many years ago when I played (football not basketball) that I would never have expected to play if I didn't practice hard or was late, I don't care if I fell asleep or not. My coach would not have cared if he won or what anyone else thought about it he would not have played you. I don't agree with his substitution method but I am not at practice everyday. I look at the first part of my post as a positive myself.
Owsley Co. coaching job.
