  1. I am not sour about aything, I wrote what I have observed. Unlike the emotional qoutes listed here. I said that the program needs help, I did not say the coach needed firing -that he needed help!!!!! He took this job knowing the circumstances, that cannot be an

excuse. Everyone I know that has a job is responsible for results. Coaches are responsible for W and L. The season is not turned around in one win over another small school just as a season would not be lost by a 22 point loss to Harlan.

Being a small school is only an excuse for saying you cant find a coach. There are other

coaches in Williamsburg right now that could really bring help to this staff.

Williamsburg has had some very good coaches in the past, and actually ran one off (by

the name of Brent West), because he would not do what the powers that be thought he should. He is now a main part of a very good Corbin team and staff, who I might add is a small school with very young players.

My only point to my entire statement is until Williamsburg realizes that winning a game is good, but that is what your supposed to do, and they are willing to provide resources and a staff to improve from the youth up, the program will continue on the same track.

Insanity = When you continue to do the same thing over and over and expect different results!!!!!!

I wish the Kids the best and hope they get some W's.

IT SEEMS THE FOOTBALL TEAM DOESNT NEED EXCUSES!!!!!

Football team has a good complete coaching staff -- HOW???? If the above

qoutes about finding coaches at small schools are true!!!

    Sour Grapes!

  2. First of all I understand that there will be people that take exception to this POST!!!

However, I am not a parent to the players, Not in the school system,

Just an old player who has also coached this game. I am not

anti-Coach Robinson he is probably a nice person and was a good player.

However, that will not ensure he is a good coach.

I read everytime coach Robinson wins a game, this is a great win for him. Well, what has there been 4 or 5 great wins this season. There is talent on this team, However this young inexperienced coaching staff does not bring it out. I have watched many games this year, I have seen the coach sit down and give up during games and quit coaching, I have heard this coach blame losses on the kids when speaking on the radio ( Kids just didnt play hard like I tell them too.) He must learn that there is more than playing hard. You must teach offensive plays, rebounding, teamwork, discipline, etc.

This is a team that returned 4 starters (I believe) and had a better year last year. If Williamsburg does not find a more experienced coach to

take over or help with this program it will not improve. I have witnessed this coaching staff go into the locker room at half with all their timeouts still remaining and be losing by 22 or more. This makes you scratch your head!!!!! They had a player score 57 of 70 points in a game and not try a different defensive approach.

Best of luck to the boys They have talent and have been playing hard.

Like I said this is not about Coach Robinson it is more about a School System that a hired coach with no experience to replace another Coach from previous years that did nothing to help the program. The inexperience reaches down to the young levels at this school. You will not produce good teams without making sure your younger talent is learning the game!!!!

You are right, there are people who take exception to your post. What's your point? Why not just say "Good win" and be happy for the Jackets? Everyone has worked hard and it's beginning to show. Sounds like you had some sour grapes for breakfast this morning.

  3. I really couldn't see him coming to Corbin. He has a good situation at Williamsburg athletically despite whatever problems may exist in basketball. He was getting a lot of varsity minutes at Williamsburg, he will have an opportunity to possibly start on the baseball team in the spring and will have a chance to compete for the starting QB job this fall. I hope he has a lot of success at Williamsburg.

What will happen if things don't go as the family has planned with baseball and football? Will he quit those also? There are alot of older, more experienced players in front of him that have put their time in. As far as basketball is concerned, I think a little patience should have been exercised and maybe by the end of the season he could have been a regular starter. Coach Robinson treated him fairly.

  4. No,Jared Barton did not play, nor will he play based on his own decision since he has told us that he has not learned anything and that his God given talent and ability does not earn him playing time. It is a sad fact the politics is not only prevelant in our community, but apparently it reaches into some of our sports programs. No child, regardless of who they are should be touched by politics. It has no place in our school systems. When it becomes obvious to an 8th grader, we should all open our eyes. I wish good luck to the Jackets and hope the boys keep their heads up. They have talent, however, they need direction.

I don't understand what you mean by "politics". What happens if these "politics" occur in baseball and football? Will he quit those also?

  5. Sorry to say, but sounds like you are the one that has a problem with Football players coming to play basketball. As I recall Frazier had good success at basketball last year. Don't recall Pettit and Frazier getting knocked around as much as some of our other big men. Wonder why????

    Low blow, Luvbasketball.

  6. Well with another season gettin ready to start and some summer games played who looks to the the top teams and players in the 50th district. Who will have a breakout season, does the underdog have a chance, how will south look without the BIG 3. So many questions left unanswered???

  7. Corbin takes both, 4-1 in the first game, 12 - 1 in the second. Bright spot for Williamsburg was Aaron Root who went 4 for 6 on the night, with a double. Root was in relief in the first game retiring 3 of 4 batters faced. Hamlin pitched well for the Hounds in game 1, and Headrick took game 2. Too many mistakes and missed opprtunities for Williamsburg tonite.

You hit the nail right on the head, VolFan782000. Too may mistakes and too many missed opportunities for the Jackets tonight. It may be time for their coaches to sit down and take a look at a better plan because the one that they have now is not working. Positions are not being played by the best players which is evident from the growing number of errors recently. Root plays well both defensively and offensively, Witt and Shelley pitch well and hit, the Moses boys and Teague are hitting good solid hits and getting RBI's but beyond that this team needs some serious adjustments to be made if they are going to have a chance in the Sectionals on Friday.

  8. Why even make a statement like this on this thread? I agree with Bubba. But making a statement like this on this thread is redicilous. So what if there is an age difference ... the bottom line is the class and what if Watts played in the 13th District like you stated ... then I can guarantee yoy he wouldn't be playing in the 13th Region ... that's for sure.

Show a little respect for other people's opinions, Les. You don't have to agree with everyone but you could be more respectful with those you disagree with. Age does make a difference in most things, especially physical and mental maturity, which is very important in sports.
