  2. The way he went down I was thinking that he tore his achilles, but a kid I talked to on the way out said that he'd had ankle problems in the past. Sorry to see it happen, but the Abner kid filled in pretty well.

I had a pretty good angle and it looked like he planted to throw and the ankle just rolled under on him with nobody even close to him. I've seen that before with players with the bad ankles. Once you do it, the odds of it happening again goes way up that it happens again and again. Really too bad, I hope he is ok soon.

  3. Not only is the game between Bell and Boyle the best semi-game going, but also the most talked about game across the State.

    Most talked about on BGP:

    273 Pulaski County at Highlands

143 Bell County at Boyle County

    136 Beechwood at Mayfield

    63 Hazard at Lexington Christian

58 Marion County at Lone Oak

    57 St. Xavier at Greenwood

    55 Scott County at Trinity

    49 Fort Campbell vs.Monroe County

    41 Sheldon Clark at Somerset

27 John Hardin at Bowling Green

    Prestonsburg at DeSales

    Central at Paducah Tilghman

  4. We should feel very fortunate to have such quality people bringing us the play by play action. I know Greg Gadd, Brad Fennell and Troy Kramer are working hard to bring everyone the best coverage as possible!!! There is football knowledge flowing in the room with the three at work.:notworthy:

ITS piled so high in here I had to put on my hip waders.

  5. I don't think your Mighty Bluebird stadium will scare the Maroons.

I haven't seen anyone mention that PC will be scared...What everyone seems to be saying is that they are in for a very unusual atmosphere. The bleachers are almost on the field (and rubbing up against the backs of the visiting players) and the Highlands sideline has a three story wall behind it.

The players have to stand behind the broken line and the bleachers. The fans walk between them and the stands.

  6. Pulaski advances to 1st Class 5A regional final

Somerset — After taking care of Perry County Central last week by a 35-21 margin in the first round of the playoffs, Pulaski County head coach Johnny Hines openly questioned why his club wasn’t getting the respect he thought his team deserved.

Pulaski County plays for 1st regional title tonight

Somerset — The Pulaski County Maroons are just one win away.

One win away from a regional championship.

One win away from an 18-game home winning streak.

One win away from shutting up all the ‘nay sayers’ once and for all.

    Pulaski wins 1st Regional title

Somerset — Before the 2009 high school football season ever kicked off, several media observers as well as a rabid fan base called the ‘09 Pulaski County Maroons the greatest football team in school history — on paper at least.

  9. Highlands found itself in unfamiliar territory late Friday night. Johnson Central had countered the 14 points scored by the Bluebirds in the first six minutes of the Class 5A regional championship game in Fort Thomas with a methodical, clock-grinding 14 points of its own to forge a tie with just over three minutes left in the first half.

The Bluebirds answered that adversity with 28 points in a span of 13 minutes and advanced to next week’s state semifinal with a 42-21 victory against the Golden Eagles.

Highlands, ranked No. 8 in the USA Today national poll and now 13-0, will host either Pulaski County or Letcher County Central next Friday with a trip to Bowling Green for the state championship game on the line. The Bluebirds are seeking a third consecutive state championship and No. 19 overall.
