  1. St. Pat IS playing very good basketball. A lot of commitment from those girls outside the regular season. An observation from a basketball fan : Ann Klee has worked and turned herself into a heck of a ballplayer ! Had always seemed very timid to me, but no more. Comes to play every night. Her game does not always show in the stats, but her work is visable all night long on the floor.

  2. Is Fleming County still letting half the student body on the floor during a ball game ? This is one of the craziest things I've seen let go on in high school basketball. Encouraged by the coach, allowed by the administration, and rarely enforced by the officials. Can't help but think of all the bad scenarios that could take place.

  3. Very dissapointing for Bracken County. The low score kinda says Bracken County's 3's weren't falling tonight and that could be trouble at times during the season, there is no inside game whatsoever, either offensively or defensively. Anyone at the game with feedback on how things went.?

Great game by Mofford. He really understands when to step up and how big a game Augusta / Bracken is. Bracken just never had a answer for him. Or Ryan Kelsch for that matter. Think for Bracken to have some success, somebody is going to emerge in the post. If not those threes are not gonna be open. Augusta pretty well controlled this game after the first quarter. Want to give a shout out to Steven Gibbs from Augusta. Thought he had some quality varsity minutes tonight and responded very well. Most likely earned himself some more. As always, great game in the Den. Best three bucks I spent this week !

  4. This is one of those games that any basketball fan should treat their self to. Bracken - Augusta in the Den is worth way more than the three dollar admission. Hope all the bulbs are working in the scoreboard, cause I think this one will get into the ninties to get a win. Panthers always tough in the Den and I see their experience prevailing in this one. Should be a great game though. If you make the trip, here's a tip : Don't wait till seven pm to get there. The Den will fill up quick for this one. And with the new construction, parking is at a premium. Only other question to be answered is if Coach Kelsch can direct the band from the bench as well as he does from the concession table.

  5. Sounds like a good game. From the early season it looks like Montgomer Co. is still the top team of the 10th, but contenders for the #2 ranked team might be up for grabs.

    Any thoughts?

Game had the look of blow out starting out. To the Lady Devils and Coach Mitchell's credit, they kept working and made it way too close a game for this Lady Bear Fan. The Lady Bears are gonna have to develope some killer instinct to be successful this year. On the region front, Montgomery is definitley the class of the tenth. See Clark as second. From third on are any number of contenders. Bracken, Paris, St. Pat. , Harrison, Mason, as well as Campbell and Brossart in no particular order.

  6. I'm a homer, but get an Augusta-Bracken matchup at the Panther's Den and you will see what I mean by old school basketball.

Add to that a three dollar ticket ( cheapest admission in the tenth region ) and a great concession area. If you are a fan and have not taken in a game in person at the den, do yourself a huge favor. Head to Augusta for the Panther/Polar bear matchup. You will N O T be dissappointed.

  7. Go back to the prediciton thread on this one. WOW! Some were dead on. Like to take some of you to Vegas!

Have to agree with ya B C. Although I wasn't one of the posters that had it that close. Guess there is a good reason why I don't go to the casino ! Great way for the Lady Bears to open the season. Congrats to them . Don't remember the last time Bracken has won a girls Varsity game against Mason County. Think they may have finally gotten over a huge mental hurdle. And to Coach K on that first win as the official Head Coach. What a great way to start a Varsity Head Coach career. To the Lady Royals : Thought they played a heck of a game and see them only getting better as the season goes along. Good Luck to both teams in 2008 !

  8. I've seen what the C P says on players. What do some of my Fellow BGPers think of the girls that didn't make that ranking. Who will be some of the players that will make an impact for their teams that are not listed in the Cat's Pause. I want some girls names to go watch that will make a difference to their programs. Chime on in.....

  9. No doubt Montgomery would have to top the list. An extremely deep and talented team. I see Clark as the number two pick. After that a few run together. Paris, Bracken ( even with the losses to injuries and transfer ), and Harrison. Think St. Pat will post several wins but they are just not very deep. First time in several years that I can't realistically put Mason in the top five. I'd keep an eye on Bracken though. All those going's on will have a very positive effect in my opinion.

  10. Really do think so Bear 94. The girls have really been working hard with the conditioning but they've been having alot of fun too. I think we'll see a big improvement on the floor with a large change in attitude. Also think at least a couple of the seniors girls will really benefit from Coach K's coaching style. Amazing how well girls respond when they believe a coach believes in them. Also, with Kelsch, it's pretty straight forward. Do as I ask on the floor or I gotta seat for you. And quick reminder of what he wanted you to be doing. Best five girls on the floor. No favorites. No projects. Really think we'll see a different kind of basketball out of the lady bears this year.

  11. The teams camps are great for the simple reason that the girls are playing. Hate that lull till they get in the full swing of practice. Hope the ladies understand that the work they do on their own will be the work that pays the largest didvidends. No substitute for it. You have only to look to the very successful programs to see who is practicing without a coach standing beside them and the "wish we hads" who have been sitting on the couch all summer texting.
