  1. Can I ask....how many here have a daughter, granddaughter, or relative that has played ball at St. Pat? If not, how many St. Pat games do you attend each year?

If you don't know first hand what the situation was, why do you feel like you know all the facts?

If you know the coach and you get your info from him, do you think his side of the story could be just that, his side of the story. After all could he be a little bitter? Most people I know who are let go or fired are bitter, and it's never their fault. That's natural. Do you know the other side? Why do you think the school was so unjust in letting a coach go? Just asking because I would like to know where you get your info and what you have based your opinions on?

Maybe you know something I don't. Enlighten me.

All my relatives have gone to st.pat i attend as many games as i can when i'm not playing

  2. I think Summoroyal below with his records updates validates that for a fact you are wrong about the Lady Saints program being good before Coach Ormes came along. They were 75-122 before Ormes era began and 146-129 during Jerry's tenure. Those numbers are not even close. No coach should be bigger than a program but those numbers don't lie about being good before Ormes.[/Q

there was also no coaching consistency before jerry ormes if they had that before they could have been just as successful but they didnt. he was a good coach and brought the best out of his team.

  3. Would like to know where you got the information about "80% of this decision was from an evaluation of his players." I find that very difficult to believe and when is a basketball coaches job on the line because you have some players who were not happy with the outcome. Characteristically there will likely always be some players not happy, such as - not enough playing time, not patted on the back ALL the time, others getting more playing time ,etc, etc, etc. I know Jerry very well too and his coaching is steller. Sure, as coaches, we don't always make the right decisions, but that's expected. Regardless of what you say, I have to believe the "higher-ups" didn't do the research and did their normal "knee-jerk" reaction and tried to appease the minority who were complaining the loudest. Jerry is still one of the best coaches in the 10th region and that is so apparent when you look at where St. Pat's was BEFORE he came and how far they progressed. And as you can see from reading these posts, most people agree with that assessment.

Buddy! I am no BGPer...i simply asked a friend to state my opinion...Jerry ormes is the best girls coach at st pat...and he was great! I totally agree...and the way he was sent was NOT RIGHT!!! but I was just clearing up the very very FALSE accusations of St. patrick recruiting...I have taken a coaches evaluation test and its all friendly and it usually goes fine...this year, though, there were some troubles btwn the jv and v coaches....its not a source to fire a coach...it is just a little survey to see your coaches interraction with players and if your coach shows religious action while coaching.....jerry was the best with that....VERY VERY CLASSY GUY. This survey is just a source but not a criticism towards the coach, but the admin. could have seen a trend and that is all i'm saying..but thank you for your opinion and input...much appreciated!!!

You can not say Jerry ormes made st.pat girls basketball. because i know for a fact they were good before he came and good while he was there. He was a good coach and will be missed .

  5. (anonymous writer) I know Jerry Ormes as well as anybody else. Yes! the man was a genius when it came to class. Yes, it was not the way he should have been kicked out. But, when people say that the parents are controlling what's going on, you need to do just a little bit more research! 80% of this decision was from an evaluation from his players. I love Jerry to death, but you cannot criticize St. Pat's in general. ST. PAT DOES NOT RECRUIT!!!! The very last thing on the admin. mind is athletics...if they recruit, it would be for this "Wiz of Oz" program, not basketball. It really hurts me to see people criticizing a place where religion if first! Yes, we traveled to ohio, TO A CATHOLIC SCHOOL, and to augusta, TO A CATHOLIC SCHOOL, to keep Catholic children close with their faith. You cant tell me that it was a recruiting process for athletics, it was strictly a visit to see if kids from a catholic school wanted to go to a catholic high school. Just so you know, St. Pats is one of the only Catholic schools around (Bishop Brossart) the other. But St. pats is a great school where CLASS comes first. No one on BGP can say that they have run into many problems with our athletic program. We have quite a few Ohio residents from manchester to G'town that are probably 90% Catholic. Criticize a person, one person, before you critisize a school and a GREAT community!

  6. I believe if you check each class rosters you'll find your answer. Not to mention his visits to Augusta and trips across the river getting players, not students to come there. The fact that there are kids playing sports and are not even living in Kentucky, should be a KHSAA violation.

I do not need to check each class rosters. I know everyone in the school. I believe if you checked the kids he got from ohio went to st. michaels which only goes till the 8th grade. If you are going to say we are recruiting them for offering them to continue their catholic education than my bad. The reason the also came is because saint michaels continues to pay some of their tuition to continue the catholic education. Who has st.pat got from augusta? None that i can think of.

I dont need to check each class roster. I know ever kid in the school. the kids that came from ohio went to st. michaels and. there is not a catholic high school anywhere close. and plus they get some of their tuition payed for by the woman that left all the money to st. michaels when she died.

  8. Great coach. Took for the most part avg. to less than avg. talent, and made them competitive every year. Some years even top tier of region. Must have wanted someone who could recruit.

Why does someone all ways have to say something about recruiting when its about a private school. Would you say the same thing about a public school. Some schools dont the ruputation other private schools have.

  9. St. Pat is coming off of a 9-2 win from Deming and a 17-3 loss to Paris. They lost last year to Silver Grove. If they play as a team and get the bats rolling they could pull this one off. If the Saints win they will play the 13th without the seniors due to their spring break senior trip.
