  1. GREAT win for the Titans! This was a huge win for them and will help get the momentum needed going in to the final stage of regular season play as well as the playoffs. Defense looked very good again tonight and the offense seemed to find the crack in Boyle's defense the 2nd half. IMO, Matthew McCloud had an incredible game on both sides of the ball. His play really stood out tonight.

On the Boyle Co. side of things. I read on here where many of you believe as I do, that Pardue can indeed turn things around at Boyle. What I don't believe is that the administration will give him the time to do that. He is a very good coach and knows what he is doing, but I don't think Boyle (administration, fans and parents) will give him the chance. It is obvious to me that they have no where near the talent they had back in the days of state championships, but that past success has altered the ability of logic and reasoning in the minds of many in Title Town.

Im really tired of the lack of talent comments i keep hearing about. This junior class i have been hearing since middle school how they are/were going to be the saviors of BC football, because they were so TALENTED. Im hearing the same about the other classes too, except the senior class. People forget the first championship in 99 had 3 playing seniors and the 05 champions were lead by a senior class, whom many regarded as the least TALENTED class to come through since the early 90s. Their are more things at work than talent IMO. I think the team knows the community and administration is not on their side. Too much negativity around this team, its almost like they expect to lose and play not to lose. The body language was down on that whole sideline this past friday. Ive never seen a Boyle team act like that. Coach Pardue is a great coach, and now i fear he has to change not just gameplans but also the mentality of his kids.

  2. I have no doubt that he can take it. I just think that the weak schedule early may have caused Frankfort High's fumbles. When you aren't use to getting hit by several guys, and you are a much better athlete than everyone else; sometimes you have a tendency to leave the ball out while breaking tackles. In this case, as he was breaking tackles, someone else was hitting him. Believe me, I think E.J. is a great player and he can hold his own (speed, strength, size, etc.) with any high school player.

I'll watch the game on Cable 10 and see how many fumbles he had. I was told he fumbled 4 times.

Back to my original post. Anyone have an answer for the illegal substitutions or the 65 yard retreat after the play was over by the zebras.

I had a buddy at the game, and i think he told me there was a penalty on the return in question. If its a penalty thats why he would go and follow the play. And then come back down.

The illegal substitutions i dont know why, but with that Tony Franklin system, isnt it an illegal substitution if the center has his hand on the ball and they are getting people on and off the field? Thats the only thing i can think of.

  3. Back in the glory days at Boyle they had a nasty habit of kicking onside kicks when the game was well in hand, big leads running clocks, just wanted them to see what that feels like.

Looks like someone holds a grudge. Listen, Boyle did that alot so that the whole second half clock would run, and at the same time practice an important play that could change a game. Heck, either Boyle could have taken that 41 point lead into half time and then came out with starters in the second half.....or take the running clock with 2nd stringers in. Seems better for both teams IMO

  4. I remember last year that everyone was saying how good this sophomore class is talent-wise. Everyone said "just wait till next year where they are a year older". Well, the juniors now are not producing. They are not playing like they should, and it makes me think its more than just a talent level issue. Everyone needs to step it up and play with more heart and desire.

  5. Everyone seems to be picking Boyle because of their tough schedule so far. They have played two good teams, but Boyle has lost both of them. Danville's two games haven't been with to bad of teams either. PSW beat Boyle twice last year and Madison Central beat Boyle in a Scrimage this season. Hard for me to pick a team to get their first win against a pretty good Danville team.

    Danville 33

    Boyle Co. 21

PSW has graduated alot from last years very good team, and Boyle has improved IMO ten fold since the Central scrimmage. I think comparing games can be used, but a scrimmage...... Boyle is improving almost quarter by quarter that they play and that is all you can ask for in a team.

  6. I think Boyle came together as a team against Henry Clay, and i will look for a spirited effort against Danville, the whole game.

This game means alot to both teams but, i think that Boyle is in better shape, and their offense is extremely explosive. The only question is if Boyle can stop the Ads on third down, if they can i look for Boyle to win handily.

Should be a hell of a game

    BC-45

    Dville-28

  7. I may make an appearance.... just don't expect me out there at 12 HAHA, I wanna be able to make the game...

Ironically, I went to probably 20 EKU games whileI attended there..but I can't honestly remmeber being at a full EKU game.. i either tailgated til halftime and watched the second half... or went the first half and left at halftime to pass out.. HAHA Even when I made Homecoming Court I left right after halftime.

This may be the first time I see a full EKU game.

Same here. I tailgated to tailgate. The game was just the occasion, not the impacting event. Out in the parking lot all day, then i might sneak a peek at the game before going to crash.

  8. I think for Boyle it was Bryce Perry. People were/are calling for his removal, but that is just idiocy. Mason showed far less. He was very efficient and had 2 TDs to 1 Ints against a very good and fast Bowling Green defense. He moved the offense better than expected. If not him, then Ron Crutfield, he had over 100 yards receiving from the TE spot. Both had good games.

  9. If the players are that good then they should have no problem getting looked at the school they originally came from. Don't give me that stuff that the coach can find scholarship offers. If he can do that then he needs to get out of coaching and go do what we all know he succeeds in at a university.

For real. If he was such a good recruiter, put that coach in Div 1, where his true merit will shine through. It seems shady, that a high school coach should act like a liason to big time schools for players just because of who he is.

  10. I agree. I can't say whether Boyle County had an unusual influx of talent or not, but if they did, it still wasn't the caliber or talent that just wins no matter who coaches. Chuck Smith, IMO, built Boyle County from ground zero and maximized the talent that he did have...that means developing players and recognizing where to play them to get the maximum benefit for your team. The latter, IMO, is an often overlooked gift that some coaches have and some do not. You don't win to the extent Boyle County did because of an influx of talent, IMO...from my experience, talent waves just don't come continuously for nearly a decade.

Speaking from a Breathitt County standpoint, we had a huge influx of talent in the mid '90's that was maximized by good coaching. There weren't many D-1 players, but there were some good ones...around '98 the last of that wave was gone and we dropped a bit. I think what Chuck Smith did at Boyle County was develop and keep winning despite the ebbs and flows in talent....some Boyle County teams were more dominating, but they all won when he was there. I doubt we'll ever see anything like it again.

Also, one more note, during Breathitt's great run from '95 through '97, we played Boyle County in the state semi-finals in '96 and, IMO, that was the best team we played during that run. We beat them 12-7 in a great football game...two great, well-disciplined defenses. My brother-in-law was an all-state lineman for those Bobcat teams and he said as much. His quote was, "That's the best team I played against. It was like playing against ourselves. Their defense wasn't huge or overpowering, but they were fast and tough and really disciplined." I take that as a pretty good compliment coming from him...

He did go on to say he thought Breathitt had a bad game on offense and should have done better...I take that as football talk. Good defenses have a way of doing that, and I suspect the '96 Boyle County players feel like they should have done more and won that game as well.

I hope the Rebels can get back on top. Good luck...:thumb:

I thank you for the good words, and i also agree. Some of Smith's most talented teams like the 96 team didnt win state. REMEMBER that the 99 team was supposed to be horrible because the only returning seniors were Greg Wilson, Brandon Clem, and Bobby Leffew. They had a sophomore QB in Jeff Duggins who wasnt near his potential when he won Mr. Football. That same 99 team with like 5 seniors won state for the FIRST time against a very good Glasgow team. 96 was always a sore spot with coach Smith, but Coach Smith brought the rest of the teams to realize that they had achieved nothing, except for the season they were about to play

  11. From reading your posts on this thread and others it sounds to me like you want the same thing to happen all over again. I'd like to think that people who were concerned with the direction of the program last year had every right to be concerned considering the shortage of answers people were getting on and off the field. No one from either side of last year's issues want to relive any of those moments and from what I gather most people have put last year behind them and moved on with full support of this coaching staff. Care to join the rest of us?

Ditto of that as well. Must have played on one of those teams that Boyle beat so badly. Is there that much hatred in your heart? LOL:devil:

  12. Coach Pardue and company are doing a great job of turning boys to men...the W/L colum (especially with the BRUTAL schedule) is truely over rated. If someone could show me that the current staff is leading youngmen down a path of poor decisions then this discussion would be valid.

Coach Pardue and company suffered through a poor season (BC standards), yet went to the 2nd round...and held a ship together that had several rats aboard. I do not think the current admin is supporting the staff they way they should...if so this discussion and rumors about winning big would not be happening and there would not have been a "meeting" last year.

Coach Pardue and company are great men, teachers, leaders, fathers, and coaches.

    Witch hunts are over rated!

I would totally agree, if it werent for the fact that one assistant has 2 infractions with the law and one of those such infractions was during state week, yet he is still on staff. But, Pardue is everything, everyone has made him out to be, a good role model, a excellent coach, and a hell of an OC. I think that Pardue has got these kids playing hard and together too

  13. Back to the quarterback situation. I thought Grant Tamme looked to be a good quarterback prospect, but was moved to wide receiver in favor of Bryce Perry last year. Now, it seems the Rebel nation wants a change of quarterback other than Bryce Perry.

Can anyone on the inside provide some insight here?

I havent heard of one person that actually wants Perry pulled. The question was asked because Mason came into the BG game in relief. I think that experiment quickly ended with those two INTs that he threw right to BG defenders. Plus, his one good comp. to Williams was badly underthrown. Bryce had a good game, and despite that hand-off he looked like he was in control. He moved the offense up and down the field, but he had some mental mistakes as well. I am not expecting Jeff Duggins, Bart Johnson, or Brandon Smith to trot out onto the field, so i was extremely pleased with his work (especially the 1st half). Its way too early to be doing these posts, but the coaches i guess made the question relevent by putting Mason in there.

Oh, and what he said too, lay off the rebel fans. No one is expecting Papa Johns every year.

  14. ...and the groudwork is layed for deja vu all over again... just add a Henry Clay loss on Friday and watch the magic happen in Rebel Country.... just like last year

I think you are speaking prematurally. Pardue's team put up a spirited effort against Bowling Green last week and i think they will do the same again this week. They had three major mental mistakes, that all lead to BG points. Eliminate those mistakes and improve. Last years team regressed, but i think this years team is determined to get better. I do think the fans are spoiled but that statement makes it seem like people are happy to see that kind of turmoil.
