  1. I agree that Southern and Lincoln's slothfullness in their coaching hire has gotten some applicants worried. I wouldnt be surprised to see Garrard get all applications from these coaches. Honestly they must be thinking that if Southern or Lincoln liked them as possible coaches then they wouldnt be dragging their feet soo much.

  2. True HitStick! I don't really get impressed with small college coaches at D-2 schools and NAIA. Cronin is a great coach and Thomas at Campbellsville might be ok also. It just makes me think that if they were that good, then they would move up in the college ranks where they might actually make some money. Assistants at NAIA/D-2 like KY Weslyan barely make enough to survive on.

I never said anything about the quality of coaching. I know that Coach Thomas is a great coach. Alot of the coachs of the schools listed are great coaches, Cronin, Frye, and even Thomas More's coach (name?) are all great coaches. Sometimes the assistants are just ex-players, and that doesnt always mean that those are the best quality, but i know that just being a head coach at any college level makes them qualified for high school jobs.

  3. Sounds like a lot of "might be" situations. Why would Perry & Hester want to return? They both are in situations that have state titles. What is the deal with the Goldsmith transfer?

I asked myself the same question about Hester and Perry. I dont think Hester or Perry would leave. Im pretty sure Hester doesnt want to move from Boyle... i think his son is an upcoming freshman, and i think his wife is a teacher at Boyle.

  4. I'm right on with you studwr, it seems that people are quick to judge when coaches/teams are struggling. It is apparent that kids during the Stonebraker/Cooper era made many progressions. I don't think they got the support they needed from the community and was quick to want a change. I know Stonebraker & Co. had to deal with alot of grade and behavior issues that were out of their hands. With small schools, we all know that is a tough pill to swallow. I wouldn't judge a coach on that. Now if this staff reloaded tons of talent each year and still produced 2-9 seasons, I would agree with GCHS UK9 that there needs to be a change but I highly doubt that was the case. I think alot of people in Garrard need to realize that and provide a helping hand instead of a noose. Thanks studwr for seeing my point.

See grade and behavior issues are within their hands. You can get students tutoring and behavior problems can be corrected with some discipline. I am not very high on Stonebreaker or Cooper's credentials, and we all agree that the school needs change. With the schedules Stonebreaker puts together (especially at Casey) it would be impossible to go 2-9 if you put a team on the field. With Their new district and class they should be able to be a top contender in their district and region, and yet they have losses to Washington Co., and Pendleton Co. (a team that had to go to overtime to beat Bourbon). Plus they arent even competetive against Somerset, which they have to go through.

  5. I heard that Jerry Perry was being seriously considered for the job. He previously coached at Garrard back in the 90's. He is more than capable to do the job and was well liked.

The question is not if Garrard wants him, but if he wants Garrard. If Coach Perry wants to go back to Garrard then i dont think the Administrators would blink at the chance.

  6. What class is Palm Bay in? I know that alot of out of state coaches can get jobs, but sometimes its about impressions made, not whats on the resume. Face to Face interviews usually leave more of a lasting impression, and its easier to come across enthusiatic and portray your vision in person. There are still jobs open, and Garrard Co. just became open. Keep looking and good luck

  7. A successful program needs to be more than kids just showing up to practice and scoring "alittle". If Coach U could only do those two things, then Owen Co. was better off looking for another coach that could take Owen to the next level. Just showing up wont do it.
