  1. Congrats to Mason! A few thoughts IMO If these two teams play ten times I bet Holmes wins 7 or 8 they couldn't get anything to fall from the field or the line. I'll be cheering for Miller next year but come on everytime the kid touches the ball he doesn NOT get fouled. The blocking call on Holmes in the first half is on my top 5 all time worst calls ever. The shot went up hit the backboard bounced off the rim then was rebounded before the ref called the block waiting to see if it would go in, I think so. AWFUL! Nobody likes the 9th or NKY at all but NKY.

    I couldn't agree more.

Great year fo the Dawgs, Class program and fun to watch.

Congrats to Mason Co. another class program.

Great tournament and 2 well coached teams.

  2. It's funny how mountain and private schools play scrappy and hard-nosed, but that kind of play from Louisville or inner city schools is considered thug. Things will never change in Kentucky and think that is why the University loses out on a lot of recruits nationwide because of that image.

    well said :thumb:

  3. First off, Congrats Holmes and good luck the rest of the way. Second, Paintsville is not a dirty team, the first intentional foul was not an intentional ,just a hard foul on a break away. Bundy was clearly going for the ball and when two players are going full speed there is going to be hard contact.

I'm not referring to that foul. that play was just hard full speed action.

BUT at with about 1:20 to go in the game #4 and # 45 for paintsville show what kinda class they have... NONE

Dirty play at the sweet 16 is uncalled for.

show some class and take the loss and go on.

  4. Just got word back from my Pops in the stands. He said that Paintsville lost its composure and started getting dirty. He said that Holmes did a great job keeping their compsure. In my opinion, Paintsville's coach needs to smack down on that.

pops was right on it, number 4 for Paintsville is a dirty player!

Congrats to Holmes players for keeping their cool and remembering why they are there.

  5. You want to talk about destiny? Let's try on for size it's the thirty year anniversary of Holmes near championship with a very questionable call preventing that, but more important is Holmes Coach Henley's twenty five year anniversary of a triple overtime loss in the championship to Henry Clay. If destiny is to be step in and rear it's head it looks to me that the two losses can all be washed away for Holmes and Coach Henley with State tourny title. (Not to mention that Rozella Young, the long time score keeper for the Carlisle Co. School(where Henley played ball), is being inducted into the Hall of Fame for her service to the sport of basketball. I know for a fact Coach Henley was one of her favorite players. This all happening in this tourny tells me destiny is on Holmes side.

I was at that game and will be at the rest of the games this tourny.

Holmes will win by 17 today

Holmes by 7 over Lex Cath

Holmes by 12 over Mason Co.

    :fight:

  6. Congrats to Conner they made plays when the HHS kids didn't. I just hate to see a game called by refs from out of region. Why play all year long with your regions refs and then the most important time of the year lets get people we have no idea how they call. With 2 minutes to go Conner had shot 16ft to HHS 0. I guess Conners man defense is not as aggressive as HHS zone. I think the final total was 20FT for Conner and 5 for HHS 3ft for HHS with 20secs to go. I would say Conner is the runner up to ND. HHS kids didn't seem to handle the pressure of being the favorite very well at all. Just make you think how BC and ND do it every year as the favorite. I cant see how its wasn't and upset. But good luck Conner you earned it tonight.

    your right!

HHS is used to having that kind of advantage from the line.

I think they would have refs from other regions if they would have got to the "most important time of the year"

  7. I75 N to 275 East, I471 N,

    Take EXIT 5 toward KY-8 / NEWPORT / BELLEVUE.

    Turn RIGHT onto KY-8

Turn RIGHT onto RIVERIA DR ( Party Source Store with Neon Lights on the corner)

    Turn RIGHT onto DONNERMEYER DR

Turn LEFT onto WILDCAT DR. ( a tricky little turn, There is a small landscaped island, turn left at the far end of it)

after you turn onto WildCat Dr. Newport High School will be on your right, the football field will be straight back about 1000 ft.

park anywhere under the highway and get your walking shoes on it's a little ways to the field entrance.

  8. Refs seem to be missing a few calls in this one. Farris steps out of bounds on the 15, ball marked down on the five. #30 for Boone steps out of bounds just past the line of scrimage, goes on to score. Who is this crew tonight, anybody know?

your sitting in front of your tv watching the game with replays...

The Ref is making the call instantly..

    you missed it too.

the Kid steps out at the 12 yard line.

the crew for the game is doing a good job.

    great game to watch tonight.

  9. Hot seat? That is insanely funny. Maybe in 31 other cities, but not Cincinnati. Totally inept for 15 years before Marvin got here. Since he's got here they haven't had a losing seaon... 30 straight games have sold out... Everyone on the stadium is decked out in Bengal gear... There is a waiting list for season tickets... Marvin is a saint with his community projects... Mike Brown has finally found someone to be his unofficial GM and has given him the freedom to do as he pleases. IMO Marvin has got the job as long as he wants it...

this is so sad but true!

The problem is not with Marvin, the problem is MIKE BROWN.

he is more than happy at 8-8 or close to it, with a sell out crowd,

he is making money big time.

When they spend "Top 5 Money" on Justin Smith that tells you something.

  10. It has been a while since I have been to Ludlow (seems like the last time was when we played you in 2002 maybe?), so I can't quit remember your field to make a comparison. As is the case for many places, the visitor bleachers leave a little to be desired, but they have a nice field and a track around it. Changing facililites are in the gymnasium. Parking is pretty good and the lighting is good.

Did they get the lighting fixed? I remember a couple years ago half the lights would go out, but seriously Henry Co. has one of the best places around and great folks down there.
