This was a big, big win for us. Some people have been complaining about the lack of respect we've been getting but we have not done anything this year to earn it. This is a start. 3 of the penalties on Fern Creek were of the 15 yard personal foul variety for late hits. We really should have had another score after a missed field goal when a personal foul gave us the ball inside their 5 yard line but Fern Creek did a great job and stopped us on 4 straight plays. Fern Creek has a lot of speed in their receivers but so does our secondary. Our defense really stepped up and the young men on both sides of the ball played their hearts out. As far as the turnovers go, senior Alex Cote had a great pick (defensive lineman don't get many), and besides his 3 picks sophomore Jayce Jordan (pronounced Jase) forced 2 fumbles and recovered 1. I'm not sure but I believe the freshman qb for Fern Creek did play. If he is the tall kid who really only passes then he was in most of the second half. If that was him, he will be good. This week will be a bigger test for our defense. I've now seen both Fern Creek and Holmes play and with their first qb Fern Creek has a very similar offense to Holmes, but Holmes has more athletes this year. It will be at Home and it will be a homecoming game against a tough opponent. If you're a player or a fan, you've got to look forward to that.
