  1. Is anyone going to give us the scoop on McGraw?

McGraw took a spill on a loose ball late in the first game on Thursday and sat out the rest of the game with ice. I believe it was intended that he would sit out the game on Fri. to avoid back-back-back (although he did dress on the bench) Saturday he didn't dress......... don't know exactly how the decision was made but HE stated that he is wants to make sure he is healthy for District&Regionals. I think it is day to day as to his playing status.

  2. I believe Ben Watson plays football. He jumped right over someone. You think Luke Stein wouldn't have started right away? Hurtt is already in his role and playing major minutes. He jumped over someone that has been in the gym since October. Forget about these guys?

The point was regarding certain underclassmen.........I didn't forget anyone, Watson has practiced since Oct and earned his position. Obviously senior players will assume their roles quicker or they wouldn't keep them on the team. Regarding Stein....he probably won't start right away, he'll have to earn it from a talented sophmore or bump a senior won't he!

  3. With regard to Turner,Guiduli, (and Grubbs for that matter)....... why is it assumed that they would or should walk off the football field and automatically play ahead of anyone? Last time I heard the sophmore class had established some pretty notable credentials. Perhaps the ones who have been practicing since October are simply better right now and deserve an opportunity of their own......... That being said, I think all three can be contributors at the varsity level this year but they are going to have to earn it from some others who are equally as talented. Good problem to have for coach Schlarman.....but I think he'll figure it out !

Highlands by at least twenty Fri and Sat.

  4. Campbell played a great game last night. A 7-7 ball game going into the fourth quarter, I do not know what game you were watching. The game should have been 35-0 Camels at half if there aren't two blown calls by the refs in the first half.... Yes Mason had alot of turnovers but what about that Camel Defense. They were very very physical last night and it looked like Mason wanted nothing to do with that. Look out for the Camels, down the strech here as the Offense is coming around and the D is always good... Great game Camels and Mason. Good Luck..

  5. Just Remember one thing, Campbell started the same way last year at 2-2. Then they went over and beat up on a conner team that sparked the plug. Then they were unstopable til the second round of the playoffs. The Camels might have started off bad the past couple of weeks, but with a few adjustments that took place as the game went on last night you saw a spark. The first half was sloppy but the 2nd half looked like the Camels D came out with some fire. There offense didn't come around last year till the 5th game of the season when they figured out what they could do. Don't be surprise if these boys go on a roll again.

Also, The roughing the passer penalty on CCHS was a terrible call. The 2 Camel players hit eachother more than they did the quarterback. And yes Conner D played decent, I feel that Campbell County could have scored anytime they wanted, even missed a few balls in the endzone.

    GOOD LUCK BOTH TEAMS!!!!

  6. That's simply outrageous. No way this ridiculous score happens.

I'm not sure if you have traveld out and watched the camels practice or play, but all i know is that their is talent here. Why can't you have a possitive outlook , i mean your name is bright horizons is it not. We will see.

  7. Time of possession and ball control is not important against an opponent that hangs its hat on speed?! Uh, OK?! But I hope your score is right.

What you have to remember is that the old slow camels are in the past. This is the new generation of camel football. I've seen some great speed on our team as well, so they have to stop us and worry about what our speed is about. All i'm saying is is that to me from the stands this team looks like a total package, you have everything on that field you would want on a team and confidence outways alot of other stuff. I think playing a team like ryle and knowing that you could have beat them and seeing what they did last year is a big boost. Understanding that you have to play discipline and be physical is the way it gets done. I think these kids understand now how it's done and having a balanced attack can't hurt niether. My prediction still stands.

  8. Camels role big in this one, This is not a matter of who controls the ball or what have you. This is about understanding a challenge and then executing the game plan. The attitude is not we hope to win, it is we expect to win and win big. The Camels have some real good athletes and some good young athletes and i Know that Coach styers has prepared these boys for some fun football on Friday.

    Campbell 42

    Tates 7

  9. They also played Bryan station. I thought they played ok, still have some kinks to iron out. They have the tallent to go deep into the playoffs this year, it's going to depend on if they can do the little things that good football teams do. They hav'nt that i've seen yet geld together. I've noticed some walking on the field and that's not how you are suppose to play this game. I hope it all comes together for them soon because it's not going to be easy this year with them playing some tough teams.

  10. I herd that they have new uniforms coming in this year. Sounds like it's going to be a fun year out thier in the county. They lost some key players on both sides of the ball, but with some good coaching hopefully they can keep that winning tradition year after year that they started since Styers has been out their. They do still have the starting lbs coming back. Somebody by the name Sauerback is in the middle again,(what a beast). Should be good again on D.

  11. Freshman are eligible to play freshman tourney, period. Expect to see Popp, Flannery, and Gabbard, Earls(who by the way is a freshman although a tad older than most) will likely not play and probably shouldn't. If the Boone boys all play together they will be tough to beat but HHS, Ryle and some others are formidible as well............good luck to all.

  12. Can't speak to their past records, but this team is better than the record reflects and they haven't really lost to a bad team. I saw some real potential within their team. Didn't see good agressiveness in their style, not great height and a little weak in their guard play, but they do look like they could develop some typical CovCath shooters& slashers from that group. Don't give up on them yet ............

  13. Even if they don't do that well in 07 the formula is already being mixed. The youth programs are doing well and the sure number of kids wanting to put that camel uniform on is surely the measure of success so far. So over the next couple of years their will be no comparison of the level that these kids will be playing at because we do get to keep the tallent that they coached through the youth programs, and not play somewhere else like many of the other years. The gap between the stars are getting closer and closer. Just sure numbers creats competitive fire and makes for a better team overall for any sport. This is only the beginning of an unbelievable job of coaching by coach Styers and staff. I hope our boys do well this year but i think that their are some big gaps to fill and we are going to need some players to rise to the forefront and become bigtime leaders.

  14. Popp and Gabbard are BASKETBALL players.........nothing against the boys mentioned from Highlands, good athletes but not necessarily hoopsters. Taking time away from b-ball will make it very difficult to return to a program/class as talented as they have. The kids on their team play extremely well together and have basketball skills, only a few of them also share their time on the gridiron.

Although HHS, Boone & Ryle probably have the greatest depth in this class, there are many promising talents in the freshman class throughout the region. (welcome back Ricardo !) Should be interesting to see the development of these kids and how the classes around them complement their high school teams. They have already established some great rivalries.....

  15. Again the 4th quarter was our down fall. We contained them through 3 quarters, but you have to play the 4th. When you raise your arm and show 4fingers, you don't do it just because everyone does it, you do it because it means something and that it means you step up and play at the next level. That's what ryle has done in both games, and so you have to give them great credit for understanding that aspect of the game. Ryle plays very hard and shows alot of heart. I do love there toughness and hope they move on to show that nky 4a football is well represented. Good luck on your journey.

We also have to give my Camels alot of credit as well. These kids have come from knowhere and showed how great coaching, hard work, dedication and the passion for the game on everyones part can take you to great hieghts in life. These kids have nothing to be ashaimed of. They showed alot of heart and they played thier butts off. The tradition of Camel football is on the rise and is here to stay for along time. These boys will never be forgotten in the Camel nation.

Thanks to the kids for an outstanding season. We will be back!

  16. What's great about this win is the best is yet to come!

Geat job Camels, not playing very well on both sides of the ball and still winning this game can only be a confidence builder. The boys have yet to play their best game, that's scary. We will need the best game next week against ryle if we want to move on.

  17. When was the winning touchdown dropped? Please refresh my memory.

Dixie limitted a Campbell County team that was averaging 39+ points per game to 17 points on their home field on senior night. I would say that worked pretty well.

The play right before the QB ran the wrong way on the 4th an goal from the one, witch by the way he walks in if he runs the correct hole, in the endzone. The kid (QB) just had an off night, was'nt as sharp as the other nights. This team is only going to go as far as this kid takes them. With that said you cannot give good teams turnovers and that's what killed us against you guys, granite good game plan but it was'nt what made us loose this game. Hopefully your QB is ready to go and you guy's win and we win, then we can do it again at your house.

I think that it is impairitive to have a youth football league to support the local high school team ran the correct way. The problem is is that it's getting harder and harder to find good coaches that have the right attitude about the developement of the kid's. At this level (3rd grade - 7th grade) it can never be about winning and losing and to often it becomes just that. Their are to many kid's standing on the sidlines or not playing at all because coaches get caught up in wanting to win the game and the kid or kids are not good enough yet. The other problem is is that they schedule to play teams from around the joining area's, subsiqently adding to the winning and losing additude. I think youth programs should look into the way highlands runs their youth league. They play against each other and develope the kids the right way, thus that is why they are so good every year. I know that their is alot more that goes into it, but that is a good start. [/color]
