  1. Has nothing to do with making excuses. If you watched his interview he stated that St. X was better. He basically was saying that those programs at the private school level were better than Scott County over his tenure there, which is true. Jim McKee is a great coach and has done something rare in today's world, that is stay at one place for an extended time. Scott County is one of the best programs year in and year out in the state of Kentucky. They are playing high level competition and no one is making excuses. I agree with chiefsmoke, he was just stating facts. That is the standard you have to meet to win it in 6A football, so I am sure he will go back to work and get the team ready for next year.

  2. Josh does a lot of the little things that sometimes get overlooked. He is a relentless worker. Pretty good in the weight room as well. He benches 300 lbs. Power cleans 250, pretty impressive for a 170 lb. QB. In McKee's system he has done the things necessary to help the Cards win and is a great leader. Being a 3 sport athlete makes him even more valuable in my opinion. He was on their 4x100 and 4x200 team that set new school records last year and is their top 400 runner. He has also been on the basketball team along with wide receiver Glenn Covington and safety Cooper Robb. All are big parts in the success of Scott County football and the fact that they are 3 sport athletes in todays world is awesome. I agree that Josh has the talent to play at the FCS level and we will see what happens as his senior year comes to a conclusion but no matter where he ends up, one thing is for sure, he has had a stellar athletic experience at Scott County. Best of luck to the Cards the rest of the way.

  3. They lose all 5 starting offensive linemen and the star QB. I believe they lose all 4 starting Defensive linemen as well. Shaw and Blake are good, but football is won upfront. How do they replace so many big time players and reproduce the success over the last two years or do they take a step back rebuilding this year?

  4. Scott County football takes off the entire month of June so the kids don't have to choose and can take a break, go to camps and be ready to make the long run come July. TOO MUCH EMPHASIS IS PUT ON JUNE PRACTICE. I mean most just had spring ball end. Scott County will open the weight room up some for those that want to lift but that is it as far as June goes.

  5. Scott co will will need to learn their roles before they will contend for any state titles. Way too many forced shots and way too many contested shots . There were very few point blank layups. A lot of forced drives to basket. Mareno kid is really really nice player! I think they are a year or two away.

I don't think they are a year or two away, once the football players get fully acclimated they will be fine. 5 of their top 10 are football players. I think that Moreno was the best kid on the floor but the Johnson kid is nice. Shots did not fall for Scott Co. Billy will bring it all together and their schedule will prepare them to make their run 10 weeks from now. Long time to go and I am confident they will be read come crunch time. Nice win by the Knights.

  6. You have to train to stop on the whistle. Let it be instinct.

I agree but that is not the only problem. The trash talking, aggressive celebrations like they have never been there. The pushing, shoving, and constant personal fouls have been a problem no matter how his buddy Josh Moore at the Lexington Herald tried to help with his article last week. It does not change the fact that CHAMPIONSHIP teams don't do that nor can they do that. Fines for fighting, ejections, etc. if they did not have Walker Wood they would be a 500 team. He keeps them rolling and is special. They have had a ton of D1 talent for a public school in the last couple of years and not enough credit is given to Garry McPeek for the job he has done developing a great offensive line. Mathews the OC has taken the talent and put up a lot of points.

  7. Coug, I know you are upset that SC beat Conner but you need to understand that McKee shook the coaches hands and then set up to watch and direct his team to make sure there was no problems in the handshake line by players. BTW the head coach of Conner did not shake all the players hands. Each team has a different procedure of how to handle these situations. It had nothing to do with being classless, and everything to do with management of SC protocol of protecting all players involved in a hard fought battle.

  8. I will say this, you can defend your team and dog another team, so be it. BUT I have saw way more than I used of people bashing on kids, which to me is wrong and sad as an adult. I am sure most of these posters were ALL AMERICANS in their day but I do find it odd that some how sites like this have become a breeding ground for the HATERS of the world.

  9. Until you can supply structure from High school down, you have zero shot at success here. The middle school is a disaster and until you put the guy at the top in charge of the program all the way down to the youth league, then my friends this will not be a great job. I want to see them be successful but they much get the support to build it. They have pitiful facilities and on top of that a lack of interest ( just look at the stands on game night) in building any success there. Baseball and basketball have been successful, but fairly look at facilities alone for those programs compared to the dilapidated hillside that at one time use to house one of the best atmospheres in the area to watch a game on Friday night. I am hearing possibly the OC or the guy at Fairview.

  10. Travis Elliots Sr. year I believe.

Yes it was without Travis Elliott. Both Ryle and SK are very good but talking about semis when the 1st has yet to be played is silly. SK has the easier road to Regionals than Ryle. Ryle has to play a talented HC team, Has to play a rival game in the 2nd round vs. Cooper and then play either Scott County or Conner in the Regional finals before there is any talk of SK or Lafayette. Now the advantage has to go to Ryle due to 1 factor and that is Tanner Morgan. But in the game of football crazy things can happen and you have to rely on 11 guys to make things happen, Morgan can't do it all on his own, which I don't think he will have to.
