    Royals use strong defense to beat Dixie Heights 48-34

     

    The Mason County Royals scored 25 points off turnovers and scored the last nine points of the game in a 48-34 win over the Dixie Heights Colonels tonight in the 8th Annual Bluegrass-Buckeye Charity Holiday Classic at Northern Kentucky University. Treg Setty scored a game-high 17 points. Bradley Lang added 10 points. The Royals play at Highlands Friday night.

    Keller Menke's 28 points lead Lady Royals to a 66-43 win over Fleming County

     

    Keller Menke scored 28 points to lead the Mason County Lady Royals to a 66-43 win over the Fleming County Lady Panthers today at The Fieldhouse. The Lady Royals jumped out a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and had a 23-2 run in the first half. Menke was 10-of-15 from the field including 1-of-1 behind the arc. She was 7-of-8 from the free throw line and grabbed nine rebounds. Beth Queen added 10 points. Fleming County star Kaylyn Emmons was held scorless. Mason County plays at Holy Cross Monday night.

    The Mason County Lady Royals pulled out a 49-46 win over the Paris Lady Hounds tonight at home. Mason County led 27-18 at the half, but was outscored 12-2 in the third quarter. After Paris guard Talaken Myers hit a three-pointer to put the Lady Hounds up 43-41 with 2:45 left, Mason County answered with six straight points to take the lead for good. Paris had a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds, but McKenzie Butler blocked one three-point shot and the Lady Hounds missed another long shot. Keller Menke led Mason County with a double-double, 23 points and 10 rebounds. Paris was led by Emily Hinkson who also had a double-double, 14 points and 13 rebounds. Mason County closes out the regular season Friday night at Montgomery County.

    The Mason County Lady Royals used an 11-1 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Bourbon County Lady Colonels tonight. Keller Menke had another double-double, 20 points (17 in the second half) and 16 rebounds (eight offensive). Bailey Menke added 10 points. The Lady Royals shot 54.2% in the second half. Mason County plays at Boone County Thursday night.

    After falling behind by 23 points, the Mason County Lady Royals put together a furious rally, but came up short in a 54-52 loss to the Scott Lady Eagles tonight in the Kenton County Classic at Scott. Keller Menke scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Mason County hosts St. Patrick Monday night.

    Lady Royals lose to Highlands 65-57 in Kenton Co. Classic

    The Mason County Lady Royals lost to the Highlands Lady Bluebirds 65-57 today in the opening round of the Kenton County Classic. Mason County led 28-26 at the half. Highlands is the top team in the 9th Region. The Lady Royals committed 32 turnovers. The Lady Bluebirds had 22 offensive rebounds. Mason County junior Keller Menke scored a game-high 26 points. Beth Queen added 11 points. The Lady Royals will play again Friday at 8:15 p.m. against the loser of tomorrow night's game between Conner and Louisville Ballard.

    Lady Royals lose to Holy Cross 63-51

    The Mason County Lady Royals fell to 0-5 with a 63-51 loss to the Holy Cross Lady Indians tonight at home. Mason County led 9-3 in the early going. But trailed by 11 at the half after being outscored 19-4 in the second quarter. The Lady Royals opened the third quarter on a 10-2 run to get to within three at 30-27. The Lady Indians responded by ending the quarter on a 10-2 run and scoring the first two points of the fourth quarter to take their biggest lead at 45-31. Mason County would get no closer than nine the rest of the way. Stacey Flesch led Holy Cross in scoring with 22 points and Stephanie Howard had a double-double, 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mason County junior Keller Menke scored a game-high 26 points. She also had seven rebounds, three asists and six steals. Bailey Menke added 12 points. Mason County plays Campbell County Friday night in the Mountain Dew Lady Royals Shootout at The Fieldhouse.

    The St. Patrick Lady Saints outscored the Bracken County Lady Bears 28-13 in the third quarter on their way to a 71-60 win in Brooksville tonight. St. Patrick led by 16 points in the fourth quarter. Bracken County got to within three at 59-56 with 2:18 to play, but the Lady Saints answered with a 7-0 run. Brooke Mosler came off the bench to lead St. Patrick with 19 points. Molly Parker added 13 points. Haley Ware was Bracken County's leading scorer with 18 points. St. Patrick plays its home opener Thursday night against Rose Hill Christian.

  12. I didnt turn 16 til the summer of my junior year. 16 is nowhere close to average. The stats are backwards they are not in the 99% of freshman who are 14!!!!!!!!!

     

    I said "Basketball players" not freshman class. Setty is 15 already, Pawsat is almost 15, Carver is 15 already (just to name a few) ...the sophomore and junior class are the same way. I saw one of the sophomores driving yesterday...several of them are already 16...and most of the Junoirs are already 17..."who play basketball" (Downing, Stahl, Thompson, Middleton) I realize that SOME players are young but most of them are "hold backs" and most of the Freshmen are already, or soon to be 15! Its not an argument, its a fact.
