  1. The scheming part is dead on BIG DOG. I don't think they have used Slusher on a blitz more than three of four times. They use him as a cover linebacker, because he has no one to cover the middle of the field if he blitzes. Mark my words, if he can stay healthy, and get meaner, he will be a serious force, because the kid is a freakish athlete.

[quote= However, Auburn offered him as a tight end and I am told he was phenomenal at their summer camp.

Like he said, he was recruited to play tight end, not linebacker.

I was at the Leslie game, and I guess schemes were a part of it, but he didn't have that many tackles. They played five linebackers and Leslie tried to pass all night. All I was suggesting was that alot of people get caught up in hype and don't notice some of the kids that can play. He's a big, physical talent and I did not rip him. Besides, the outplaying part came from inside the Bell locker room, not just my opinion.

  2. Ok, That's your opinion. I said Slusher is the best LB in the mountain region. I do not think he could play for Auburn but If he gets that chance I hope he has a great career with them & wish him the best of luck. There is a difference between being on the team & playing. Ask Tewayne (sp?) Willis of Perry Central. (Was on the UK football team a couple years ago)

Sounds like someone is jealous........What did your scholarship to Union fall through?

  3. Timmy Baker from Leslie Co. He outplayed Slusher bad when Bell came to Leslie. Not to take anything from Slusher, but Baker is being overlooked. I don't know how, but he doesn't get enough credit outside his team. Not that he wants it or anything.

Don't know what game you watched kid........Slusher had about 15-18 tackles. Had a safety too, but the ref said he crossed the goaline with forward momentum. Slusher's going to Auburn.........who the heck is Tim Baker????

  4. Well..........Slusher signed with a top 10 team in Auburn. Apparently he must have a few skills to get him nominated to this game. I know he impressed the heck out of more than a few scouts at last years all-army combine. I would just about be willing to bet a few dollars that this kid makes the squad, due to the fact that he is a freakish athlete. But then again, who am I?

  5. Why is there this feeling of discontent every time Bell wins a game. They have a strong tradition, but I think it unfair to those kids to say every time they win a game it is due to the officials. Give it a rest. Hilton is probably won of the best coaches, if not the best, to have ever coached in Ky. Any doubters? Look at the wins column for his career.

  6. I get asked that this alot. Just for anybody that want`s to know, sprinters are born and not made with fast muscle fibers. Most kids that hit the 4.5, 4.4. and 4.2 fortys carrie that gene or inherited from there dad or mom, but all athetes can use practice and specific training to improve the components of speed - reaction time and movement time. Rraction time is how long it takes to initiate a movement, and movement time is the interval from the start to the end of the movement. You can enhanced your reaction time by useing speed reaction practice drills. And movement time can be enhanced by a program of stretching, strength and power training, form training, and specific speed training. Good luck.

LOOKS LIKE YOU MAY WANT TO WORK ON YOUR TYPING, AND SPELLING MORE THAN SPEED.

  7. I was a part of those games in the early 90's. WE NEVER WATERED DOWN THE FIELD! I always hear this crap. It rains in November in EKY or snows. Why is that so tough to believe? We played in a game up North(I will not mention the name of the school)that was a lot worse than the events at Bell, and we never accused anyone. Let it go, you only degrade yourselves with this useless garbage.

  8. Well Southwestern has a tough schedule but I think that when it comes time to start the district they will be ready. It's easy to see that Rock and Bell are very confident or cocky...as usual :D ...I hope Rock dont have to go through another first game like they had last year. :thumb:

It is confidence. When you win as often as these schools do, it is really tough not to see them right there again. They don't rebuild, they reload. I know at Bell, the season is a failure to them if they don't win 10 games, where as at other schools, 10 wins is an awesome accomplishment.

  9. To end the discussion on Brent Slusher.....

I have worked out with the young man throughout Christmas break. At this point he is a legit 6'3 227 running a consistent low 4.7 40 yard dash, occasionally breaking the high 4.6's. He consistenly times in the 4.3's in the pro shuttle run, but has broken 4.2 a few times. He can jump out the gym and has a consistent 35 inch veritcal, but his best jump is 36. He benches right at 300 lbs, powercleans 285 lbs, and squats a little over 400 lbs. He benches 185 right around 15 or 16 times. He is physically imposing for a high school player and passes the "look test" so many college coaches talk about. He is very "ripped" should I say and try not to sound gay! He has very little body fat for a kid his size!

He carries his weight extremely well, and in all reality could probably get up to 240 or 250 without losing alot of speed. I think most college recruiters see this in Slusher and that is another attractive aspect of his potential. He could gain alot of weight and strength and still play LB or TE, or move to a DE or OG and be extremely athletic with great speed and feet.

His strength at this point is an issue for him and his coaches as far as college goes (mostly due to playing basketball all his life) but this season he did not go out for basketball and is concentrating his efforts soley in the weightroom. He is an extremely hard worker in the weightroom, and from the progress he has made since I have worked out with him I could see him (after the winter offseason and spring and summer offseason) benching 320, powercleaning right at 300, and squatting around 435.

He led the Bobcats in tackles last season and will be their leader on defense this upcoming season!

As far as the college goes for Brent! He has no idea where he wants to attend at this point but I'm sure he will have plenty of options! He is recieving HEAVY interest from almost every school in the eastern part of the U.S. By heavy interest I dont just mean letters, but I mean hand written letters, phone calls, and invites for unofficial visits. He seems to really like Auburn and Louisville from what I can tell. UK has just recently began recruiting Brent so it will be interesting to see how they fit in after waiting so late to jump into the mix.

Brent already attendend the invite only U.S. Army All American Combine in Texas for your top junior and senior prospects. He performed very well there against the best players in the nation. If I'm not mistaken he as already, or will be in the near future, attending an invite only Nike All Star camp and combine which is also a pretty big honor. He will be attending several of his favorite schools One Day Senior Camps this summer. As recruiting picks up this offseason and the scholarship offers begin to role in I look for us to hear his name alot on the recruiting circuit his senior year!

    Those are the facts! :thumb:

Brent had an awesome combine. He was in the top ten in nearly every catagory for TE's. Can't wait to see where he goes.
