Any other team in the 16th would NOT have fared as well.
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Russell definately earned their spot in Rupp and I'm glad for them. That said, I also believe there was other teams that would have gave a better showing. You have to get to the region first though.

I'll bite when I see the Ashland bus in the parking lot. BTW, Nets that 93 memory is as painful now as it was then. Oh well.

Congratulations to the young Lions on a great win. Here's hoping you make it all the way to Rupp. :thumb:

Congrats Menifee. Nice win...they deserve a some success.
Depends on how you characterize deserve. In my heart, I would say they deserve it out of sheer pity. But my brain tells me they have 2 or 3 wins this season and this should not be good enough to move on to the next level. What do I know though, I'm just a depressed Cougar fan.

Weddington is a very emotional young man that gets carried away at times. He's a force to be reckoned with when he's under control though.

Obviously not...22-3 on your home floor? Against 10-15, losers of 9-11? Perry insisted on playing straight man all night, and ANYBODY that does that against WC in this region is gonna give up 30 to Jones. If you don't believe me, ask Bryan Station.
It worked ok earlier when we won by 14 on West's homecourt. Jones scored 27 last night but it wasn't because of bad defense. He hit tough shots and played big. The last shot was a falling down one hander over 6'6" McCowan. Congrats to him on that but our offense was the problem last night. Forced shots and key turnovers were the killer. West didn't turn it over (2 all night) and hit all the big shots when they needed them.

Also May, Barnett, Harris and Fergueson will be good contributors as well.
Cam Dunn will be the best of the bunch if he gains strength. He's got a pure stroke that doesn't come around often. The weight room should be his best friend this summer.

Caveman, I knew you'd be on here sooner or later. So, now that you hacked on me yesterday for not picking Perry as 16th region coach of the year, how did he contribute to the loss tonight, or did he? BTW, I am not trying to be abrasive here, just curious if you cast any fault his way. We all know he can't go out there shoot the jumpers for them, but the theme early in this thread was that folks thought that they were looking past West and to the final. So does he shoulder any of the responsibility in your opinion?
Every head coach must accept some responsibility for losses on the court but I can promise you the team was well aware of the capabilities of West Carter. Morgan's staff is excellent at game prep and scouting. As I said before, this team was not overlooking West at all. I believe they felt a huge amount of pressure and played accordingly. West felt absolutely no pressure to win and was loose and played fearless ball because of it. We were up five with 2:00 to go and poor quick shots in addition to a couple of costly turnovers caused our demise. The coach caused neither one of these mistakes. As a matter of fact he was pleading, screaming, and or begging from the bench to control the ball and not to force the matter. It was West's night, they earned it and I congratulate them and wish them luck down the road. This doesn't change my opinion of coach Perry in the least. I'm thankful for all he's done in changing the basketball mindset at my school and I'd like to see him there for many years to come. :thumb:

I would like to see Elliott advance but I have a bad feeling about this game as well. East will be very loose and Elliott had better learn from last night's game that a loose team with a nothing to lose mindset is very tough to beat unless your on your game. That said Elliott in OT by 2.

How many seniors did they lose tonight?
Please read Net's post above for this explanation. First off, I'd like to congratulate West Carter on an excellent defensive game plan as well as "near perfect" offensive execution. Morgan played extremely tight last night. Playing not to lose will lead to exactly that result. Shortarming shots and throwing tentative passes all night. I never thought I would see an individual beat this team but it happened last night on the offensive end. Jones was unstoppable last night and hit big shot after big shot. The last being a running one hander in the lane over Blake. I'd still like to say this has been a very enjoyable season to watch and the guy's should be very proud of their accomplishments this season. These seniors have left the program in excellent shape and are all very outstanding young men. The parking situation was ludicrous but what can you expect with some of the leadership over there at this time. :irked:

I just wonder what he could have done this year if he had played for a team like Lee County or Estill County? Something to ponder.
What if he remained at Morgan Co. where he first enrolled this year? Now that would have been scary. :scared:

Not that Perry hasn't done a fine job, but to be tops in the region when you're expected to be doesn't necessarily mean he has done the best job.
Where did you see Morgan predicted the favorite in the region? Most places I saw was 4th or worse.

I expect the guys to be really fired up tonight and really give a good effort. The three point line makes anyone vulnerable on a given night but it will take a near perfect West performance to pull the upset. I boldly predict another huge crowd tonight. :thumb:

Is Hutchinson playing?for fairview
Does anyone know the answer to this?

District starts tonight at 7:00pm at West Liberty.

Good effort by the Rams last night but as Statmaster said, turnovers and forced shots were their downfall. Cougars struggled mightily again from the stripe. :madman: This is a very worrysome trait heading into the postseason. It was my first time at the palace and I was very impressed. Excellent gym to watch basketball. :thumb: Good luck to the Rams in the district.

Kaitlyn Haney is IMO the best soph in he region.
Kat is a junior but I agree on his importance to this team. His late season imrpovement has been a great help to this team as a whole. :thumb:

What's the criteria for who wins the EKC?

Senior night tomorrow night for the Rams. Lord willing, this will be my first trip to Raceland's new gym. I've heard good things and I'm looking forward to it. :thumb:

Looks good Cubster, except for the date.

Russell has too much experience for Elliott. No disrespect to Elliott but they will lose on Senior Night. Vanhoose picks up where he left off Friday, Blair and Gil also come to play. Russell wins
Experience will have no factor in this game. Elliott's guys have been through some wars this year and will be ready for Russell. Ferguson kid as well as the Faulkners play like experienced players and will pose major problems for Russell.
Elliott 72
Russell 66

How's 4 of 29 from 3 land for elliott an 15 of 30 from the stripe tonight.
Morgan shot terribly at the stripe as well. This needs to be corrected or it will definately bite us in the postseason.

Morgan's intensity showed up tonight and their good ball movement set the tone early on for some open shots. Big Blake was a man in the post as usual. Morgan's defense was great early on but Elliott's penetration hurt them in the fourth quarter. Hard to do much complaining though when the offense is clicking like it was tonight. All around great effort tonight by the team. The chip on their shoulder was pretty easy to see. They really wanted this one.

I caught the recap of this game on the news and it was wonderful to see a kid with such understanding and leadership. He definately has his priorities in the right place and could teach a lot of old folks what life should be all about. :thumb:
