  1. This entire page of postings has made me angry. First of all, I doubt that some of you realize where the mountains in this state are. Many of the teams discussed are not even close to any mountains. Most of eastern Kentucky, which of course garners criticism from all people ignorant of our heritage and assets, is not in the mountains at all. However we are in the hills and they are very different from mountains. Hills are friendly looking, usually somewhat rounded mounds of earth. Mountains are like the Alps, the Rockies, etc. They are very tall and forbidding looking. I think Pike County and surrounding countryside are in the mountains.

And now, back to our main concern of basketball, Morgan County has one of the better defensive teams which was ever put together in such a small school, I think.........and I am sure there are others.

  2. No "Candy and Nuts" argument here. I was courtside at that game, and St. Henry was playing excellent basketball. When they lost the big man due to injury, they were unable to overcome Mason County. Did Mason County have any injuries? Heck if I know - but they didn't lose Lofton during that game - which is what effectively happened to St. Henry.

Regardless, my point is that St. Henry was a 9th Region team that did well at the State Tournament - and, in my opinion, might well have won it, had the big man not gone down. In other words - they represented the 9th Region VERY well - and should be recognized as having done so.

You always make great sense and seem to know the game of basketball quite well. I look forward to your posts.
