  2. I readily admit my prejudice in the matter of choice of player of the year in the 16th region. This prejudice comes as a result of living in Cougar country. Even allowing for that though, I believe McCowan to be the best choice for player of the year in the 16th and I use reason above emotion in making this choice. First of all, McCowan understands the game of basketball thoroughly, he is the consummate team player who takes little pride in personal accomplishment, and he has excellent stats which are not confined to any particular area but include field goal percentage, assists, rebounds, etc.

  3. I hate to burst your bubble but there has been many of Owens haters on here of a night.. Not on this thread but i have seen more then my share of "owens haters" usually when he has a bad night. like when Ashland beat boyd at Boyd.

Since there were no Owens haters on this thread, why did you bring Owens hating up here? AND you are not bursting my bubble, having very little effect on me at all really. I just think your bias thunders for attention and hope to make you realize the extent of your prejudice.

  4. hahah i figured we would have some owens haters on this post =)

glad to see people agree on the truth once in a while

Just because of some disagreement (and very little of it), you say people hate Owens. I think you are just extremely biased because I saw no indication from anybody on here that he/she was, is, or ever has been an Owens hater. Get a grip, smell the roses, and above all get some perspective.

  5. IT could happen if elliott is hitting

    :flame: :fire:

Yes, Elliott County is capable of defeating the Cougars once again but I do not think that will happen. I believe the MCHS team will be victorious. This Cougar team certainly has the motivation and I am certain they will have the preparation to win this one. Being quite unskilled at prognostication, I will not predict the number of points by which I think they will be victorious.

  6. Hats off to Cougar fans throughout the season, their presence at home and on the road is impressive.

During the last several seasons of Morgan County High basketball, there has been a large contingent of fans who follow their Cougars at home and on the road. I think the main reason for this large group of fans who follow their team is that we have such great pride in all aspects of Morgan County's basketball program. The team, the coaches, and the fans get the highest degree of respect from everyone they come into contact with as being pure class all the way. Cougar players never grandstand, never try to be star players, and are never belligerant. They are good at what they do and take pride in their team. The players' attitudes came primarily from their coaching staff I think and so I say: HATS OFF TO MORGAN COACHING STAFF and thanks for putting us on the basketball map!

  7. Thanks Caveman!

I think the article may have ran in the Lexington Herald. Maybe someone else might have more info about it.

I think it was two years ago that the HERALD-LEADER did an article on Morgan County basketball players and their high GPA's. Do not remember exact figures but I do remember the article and the interview.

  8. Can you post us a link to the article?

Blake McCowan of Morgan County hit 21 consecutive shots over a three-game stretch against Lewis County, Prestonsburg, and Lewis County. His streak came to an end in the second half against Wolfe County, but he finished 13-for-14 and had 28 points against the Wolves. The 6-foot-6 senior is shooting 68 percent (123-for-181) this season and is averaging 14.6 points and nine rebounds.
