  1. You might be right on that season. I believe that was the first year after OJ, King, Dawson and Gillum was gone.

The only thing I would question is, how did Maynard lead the area in scoring when Rose Hill only averaged 38 pts a game that season? Also, I thought Gillum's Junior year was his biggest and that season would had been his Junior year I believe.

Uncle Jed could you post the other years of the 10?

I don't need to post the other years of the ten. You said no player had led RH in scoring had graduated in the past ten years and I showed you that you were wrong.

  2. Young and IF are the two main words here.

I for one would like to see these young men stay at Rose Hill and finish their career there.

Could someone name the top scorers each season for Rose Hill for the last 10 yrs? I would probably go out on the edge and say the leading scorer each year was a Sophomore or below, and probably did not graduate from Rose Hill.

You would be wrong. Justin Maynard not only led Rose Hill in scoreing 03/04 season, but I think he led the area in scoring also.

  3. I'm not sure how the death of a man's child got to a debate over incarceration policies in the United States. Dr. Dre has become a member of an exclusive club, no parent wants to join. My heart aches for him regardless of the circumstances surrounding his death.

  4. My opinion on the genre was formed well before I ever saw the South Park episode I mentioned. And while the lyrics may point one toward Christ, the awful music that surrounds it does just as good a job of driving folks away.

Are you saying Christian music drives people away from Christian music, or it drives people away from Christ?

    Let's compare.

    Popular Christian song:

    Surrounded by Your Glory

    What will my heart feel

Will I dance for you, Jesus

Or in awe of You, be still

Will I stand in Your presence

Or to my knees will I fall

    Will I sing "Hallelujah"

Will I be able to speak at all

    I can only imagine

    Yeah I can only imagine

    Popular Rock song:

And we were trying different things

    We were smoking funny things

Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

I tried to post a popular rap song, but the filter would not allow it. Which one drives people away from a Christian lifestyle. My point is if you're looking to be lifted and inspired spiritually, then contemporary Christian music is a good outlet. If you are looking to be entertained by the world then it may not be for you. I would think that someone who uses South Park to support their argument probably isn't looking for the same thing I am looking for in music.

  5. For the record, with reference to my earlier comment: My criticism has nothing to do with the message. I've always loved Bluegrass and black gospel. My beef lies with the delivery. South Park nailed it on the head with that one.

I don't know what you're talking about in reference to South Park, but I don't think South Park and Christian anything can be used in the same conversation.

  6. Just curious. Are coaches permitted to conduct closed practices ? I know our coach does this. No one allowed, not even parents. I was told a couple of years ago by a HS athletic director that by rule they cannot close them. Do all or most coaches do this ?

Truth is it probably should read, "No one allowed, especially parents."

  7. "There is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary, and strength for the broken heart. Faith and forgiveness, mercy and healing, he'll meet you wherever you are. Cry out to Jesus."

Lately I have been encouraged by contemporary Christian music. Bands like Third Day, Needtobreath, Mercy Me, Newsboys and more.

I'm not one who listens to any kind of music normally. Has anyone else experienced this?

  8. The third quarter was the difference in this game. Fairview came out on fire and RH was flat. Fairview played a very good game.

The big guys for RH played well. Kennedy, Gregg, and Parsons. Also Johnny Bush was his usual annoying self on defense. At times they looked good, but shots will have to fall before they can beat good teams.

  9. Although I believe that scripture is clear on the penalty for taking another persons life, I don't think this country can use this as a justification for doing so. The law given was for the Israelites who were a Godly people. This country is far from Godly.

We can't kill 50 million babies and legalize the union of same sex couples then turn around and use the bible to justify carrying out the death penalty.

I also believe those who are rejoicing in the execution can not use the bible to support their feeling on the death penalty. I truly mourn for this man. But I do believe his death is right.

And for the record, I am not pro life or pro choice, I am anti abortion.

  10. I know there are a few here who think this "mutt business" is a big deal. I guess I'm too insensitive, because I'm not seeing it. When Jeff Foxworthy calls himself a redneck, I don't see too many people getting worked up abut it. Apples and oranges - racial versus cultural?

Do you think I can qualify under affirmative action for being a redneck?
