  1. If SK makes their extra points, and the one field goal they missed it is a seven point game with 4+ minutes left.

Despite that SK looked very bad and got destroyed on defense. Every level of their D looked horrible with the secondary was the weakest point.

SK racked up the yards on kickoff returns. At least three maybe four were an ankle tackle away from being six points.

Tommy Gibson, who had a couple of the long runbacks, is a gamer. He played the whole game with a visibly painful sprained ankle. When he wasn't playing he was limping around and struggling to get back on the field.

Bishop lead with the crown of his head on that one play which was a dumb move. I love that kid to death and wish him the best, but that's something you just can't do. I saw a EKU scout or coach jog over there to see how he was doing when he was on the ground. I know how quick colleges are to turn away injured high school seniors, so I hope that the injury doesn't cost him anything in terms of a scolarship there or anywhere else.

To me that's not a dumb move at all by Bishop. They were down 31-13 and the kid is still giving it all he has to make a difference in the game sometimes it can turn out for the best sometimes it can go to the worst. That was not an EKU coach or scout that was simply his grandfather walking over with Bishop's mother and father to check on his injured grandson. That is how rumors get started.

  2. I also see SK's coaching staff being loyal to Kleeman, but Gibson has a chance to rack up more yards than Kleeman. He is a much more explosive player.

So you're saying bench Kleeman (a 2 year starter) but keep Nusbaum (rookie) on the field? Don't make much sense to me.

  3. What year is Gibson, Jr or Sr?? I don't see how he starts over Kleeman. Elbert is a very good athlete, he had a decent season last year but I expect big things out of #2, he's a dual threat behind center and SK hasn't had one of those in over 15 years.

Gibson is a junior, I don't believe he will be starting over Kleeman. I look for his start to come over #23 Tim Nusbaum. I agree 100% NF, you try to cover the long ball and Elbert will run it down your throat and if you try to defend the run Elbert will just air it out to one of his 3 key receivers..Kleeman, Ponzer, Gibson. I just want to say welcome to SK Michael Haught! Great addition to the running game and just the overrall team. I've talked to him previously and it seems like he's really enjoying the team in Independence! Great win for the Neers' to start the season...next stop Woodford County! :fight:

  4. Wow? Ususally the kids are selected, then confirm that they want to participate. Those that don't confirm are replaced by position needs. Not sure why they would be on the list if they didn't initially say they wanted to do it. My guess is that they may change their minds yet again.

I hope they do. They are to good of athletes to not play in one last game, The All Star Game at that. This is an oppurtunity of a life time, hopefully they realize that.

  5. Northern Kentucky all-star football game ...

Rosters for the game (scheduled for 7 p.m., June 8 at Beechwood) have been released. A quick glance tells me that the East squad has an edge, but it's hard to handicap these types of games. Newly hired Beechwood coach Noel Rash will coach the West. John Schlarman of Newport will coach the East.

    Anyway, here are the squads:

Kyle Rabe, Josh Larkins, and Jason Strunk from Simon Kenton will not be playing by their choice, not sure why they would do this but it's not happening.
