  1. Drew might not have the strongest arm, but he has some great accuracy. He always seems to put it where only his recievers can get it. I'm sure he will be working on his arm strength in the offseason too. IMO he was born to be QB. I watched him 7th to his freshmen year play QB and i knew he would be a Great highschool QB. He is comfortable in the pocket. he trusts his line to block for him and will stay in the pocket as long as it takes for his WR's to get open. And if none do get open he can turn on those afterburners of his and burn everyone downfield.

Mahan on the other hand always seemed too antsy in the pocket. and some plays he just seemed to throw the ball up there and hope that one of our players brought it down. Most of the time though it was the other team making the catch.

Well, if Mahan had more time in the pocket this season most of them pics wouldnt have been throw. Thats why in the off-season he saids hes going to practice on getting ready, and throwing with ian .

  2. If darrell mahan is to start at QB then he is going to need ALOT of work. He might have a strong arm but he is not very accurate. I see the tomcats going with Drew Mcdavid at QB. He is just a natural athlete who can make things happen. He can pass the ball, run the ball, whatever you want him to do. I also know that Drew is a born leader. The players respect and will listen to Drew. The QB is like the coach on the field, he has to keep his players focused, and i know drew can do that.

McDavid doesnt have a really good arm, he was born to catch it IMO.

But good predictions about this, we'll just have to see who is starting when the season comes back around. :thumb:

  3. If McDavid isnt the QB next year then something is wrong. He is the closest thing to a playmaker that Ashland is going to have.

Just you think he a playmaker, which Drew is a really good football player dont get me wrong. Just doesn't mean he is going to run the show next season! i see McDavid staying at WR and having a big year. :thumb:

  4. I appreciate your concern! I usually just check my user CP to keep an eye on the threads Im already subscribed to, so sometimes I miss out on a thread until it has already been going for a while. So anyway, congrats to Rockcastle, they just flat out beat us. Atleast we cant "what if" about it, they were better, no shame in losing that game. Also I would like to give a big thanks to all our seniors especially Ian Holbrook, Tyler Reliford, Aaron Cordial, Joe Smith. I have loved watching you guys plays, you have made a great impact and laid a great foundation for our program.

I think we will have a good team next year. We could see Thomas, David and Nethercut in the backfield, and hopefully Mahan will make enough progress over the offseason to take the QB spot. I know Ian has BIG plans for Daryl, so get ready to work!! McDavid and Bonner should give Ashland a couple of nice receivers. And everyone should keep an eye on some sophmores like Josh Salisbury, Ryan Bonner, and Justin Pennington, they may all make an impact next season.

Yes, Ian let Mahan know that when the season was over, he has a week to get ready to start lifting for next season, ian will have him ready from lifting and throwing. Mahan will be ready as soon as football comes around again. :thumb:

  5. I agree that McDavid needs to touch the ball more, but where I don't know. I also agree with Graybeard in that someone will step up. Someone always does. Mahan has the potential to be a good quarterback and with the best that Ashland has around him he will improve upon this years JV stint.

Im sure by next August he'll be ready to step up. :thumb:
