  1. I believe the KHSAA enforced the rule on Mitchell. A lot of people get ruled ineligible.

 After a year of litigation and still allowing Highlands to be declared State Champions. Now there is some real enforcement of the rules and had it been another school besides HHS the issue would have been resolved much earlier but you can't take on the mighty Bluebird faithful and their wide array of litigators and fans now can we..Just ask a few who have been banished for doing so..:fight:  ;)

  2. Aren't there different circumstances in the move between the two you cite?

I'm sure there were a different set of circumstances as there are in just about every case..My point is that the KHSAA had the guts to make the right call in this case but they don't want to upset the powers that be in the bigger schools both public and private. What I have heard about this case leads me to believe that if Behrens was ruled eligibile at Boone Cty then clearly this kid had as good a case to be ruled eligibile.. This is this youngmans 3rd high school I believe in about 4 years and the same can be said about the Behrens girl. IMO they both should be declared ineligibile.

  3. Let me preface my remarks with the fact that I know nothing about this case other than the history of schools and that her parents moved into BC's district.

314, how far (and long) do we want the KHSAA to dig every time someone transfers? If the requirements for bonafide COA have been met, what more should the KHSAA do? Lets assume that you and I both know that the move was 100% entirely for basketball (you may know that - I do not). How exactly does the KHSAA prove that? Do they need to secretly record her telling her friend that's why she moved? Do they confiscate emails? How much taxpayer money do we really want to spend on such a trivial (in the big scheme of things) matter?

Understand where you are coming from and you make valid points. Wouldn't be too difficult. Go back and maybe interview the AD's at Ludlow and Holy Cross and yes even Boone Cty. Talk to the coaches from each school and actually do just a little footwork..They are a rather large organization and if they would get off their respective rear ends and enforce the rules they have on the books instead of offering up proposal after proposal year after year maybe they would see some of these situations for what they are and that is a clear violation of the rules.. As for this situation in particular people in NKY have been laughing at this whole thing for a number of years..

  4. I have heard that he was ruled in-eligibile by the KHSAA. OK for a school like Boone Cty (Behrens and many others) to have questionable transfers but let a small school like Gallatin try to let a kid play and the KHSAA suddenly gets a real case of courage and enforce their rules..Shame they don't have the same set of stones when it comes to the better known schools who year in and year out have more then a few questionable transfers..

  5. 8TH Region

    1. Walton

    2. Gallatin Co.

    3. Trimble Co.

    4. Carrol Co.

    5. Emenice

    6. Henry Co.

Was wondering if Edmonson was ruled eligibile or not for Gallatin Cty.. I had heard he was not. Just goes to show you that schools like Highlands (Mitchell, football) and Boone Cty (Behrens) seem to get away with bringing in transfers but a little school like Gallatin has a kid come to play and suddenly the KHSAA has the courage to enforce their rules..

  6. Regardless of what side of this issue you happen to be on people will always find a way to spin it in a fashion to suit their needs and wants. For those of us who have had a close up view of the situation for the past several years and are familar with a great deal of what 1st caused this talented young lady to 1st leave Ludlow and then do the same to Holy Cross after 2 years know that this was and is an absolute joke that she was declared eligibile at Boone Cty. The only thing that is a bigger joke is that the KHSAA once again turned their spinless backs to a blatant case of transferring based entirely for sports. This is just another reason why the KHSAA in its current form needs to be disbanded and a new governing body put in to place.

  7. The Colts have not looked as good as last season during the year so far, and I dont know where they have shown where they are dangerous when their backs are agains the wall. Seems to me when it comes down to big time pressure games or situations they choke...

I think they will end up going awhile though before they lose, but I think the Bears will go the longest because they play such an easy schedule...

The Colts have had some issues already this year with a banged up defense and I think they are still trying to adapt to life without E.J., but they have still found ways to win games so far and thats what is most impressive to me and I think they can only get better so thats why I think they will be the last unbeaten team. Plus, the Colts have the Titans next and the bye, while the Ravens have two hard games coming up and I see the Bears offense having a bad game pretty soon causing a loss.

  8. 2001 in baseball we were Conference Champions and had a great team, but we got stuck cause of the seeding draw to play CovCath in the first round. 2003-2004 basketball team sets a school record in wins, was a better team than Holy Cross and had shown it in a tournament already that year by making it further but somehow Holy Cross got the 3rd seed and avoided having to play CovCath in the first round. So yeah Ludlow has had bad luck, or should we say got shafted when it comes to district before. Maybe in volleyball we haven't but we have in other sports, so it is nice to get a little break every now and then when it comes to these districts...I will say that I think in every district in every sport everyone should have to play each other and then get seeded that way. But that is not the way things are done, so until things are fixed then we all will have to deal with getting a good break in district draws sometimes, and sometimes getting a real bad break...

You little sarcastic comment at the end is really unbelievable. Its not the kids or the fans fault that the KHSAA wont go out and make every district seed. So if the team does get a good break, and does make the region good for them. Then they have every reason to be happy and proud about it, because they will be in the region and still playing while the other teams are sitting at home!!!:fight:

  9. What is everyone's goal? STATE! A very lofty goal, but a goal nonetheless.

Also to beat NDA, Win the Cake Classic, Beat NCC,Beat St. Henry, Beat Ryle, Place high in the JCIT...you know the basics, beat the teams that are hard to beat, and win a tournament or two. They are all posted up in the hallway next to the concessions stand.

They did beat NCC, They did win the Cake Clasic, and came in 4rd last weekend at the JCIT!

For a team to have done those things, including handling Ludlow in the regular season, it is a very hard thing for the team to swallow.

I agree though, they are the rules.... just very hard to agree with them!

One question...why do we have a district, and a district tournament, if we do not have to play everyone in our district? We must play everyone in our conference, but the conference doesn't mean squat to KHSAA?

I just thought I would let everyone know that I tried to get a comment from one of my good buddies BIGZIG on what he thought of this whole matter, but he was way too busy laughing about it to give me his feedback.

  10. No surprise here, Iowa has been the most overrated team in the country all year long...

I agree and I was pretty close on the score I said it would be 34-14 OSU, but Troy Smith does nothing but impress me everytime I watch him play. :ylsuper:

  11. Bellevue is sending some nice talent..... Adams is blazing fast, Schmitz is a nice hitter from the secondary and can pick passes, Kelsay is a big kid with nice quick feet. Duell and Riley are huge and very aggressive..... they all will contribute. Throw in the athleticism of the NCC kids, Newport is showing some good representation with Runion,Atkins, Thomas and young......and then the Cov Cath boys... Mcgee , Sutton, etc....Guidugli,Beck, cecil and Pryse......from HHS..... its over.

I say the East rolls..... 35-14.

The East will be tough to beat!

  12. Congratulations to Highlands and to Ludlow and best wishes to Ludlows 3 Seniors. All three are outstanding youngmen who will be missed by the Ludlow program a great deal.

-Justin Hardin who has to be one of the most improved players in all of NKY and who is an excellent student. Going to U.K I believe and I;m certain will be very successful.

-Chase King another excellent student in the Top 5 of his class and recently recognized as a Remke Student/Athlete of the Week has provided Ludlow fans with many thrills since his grade school days. Another UK freshmen to be next year we wish you nothing but the very best.

-Dan Penick who will be moving on to Wright State Univ. and is the 1st Div. 1 player from Ludlow in over 45 years we wish you the very best as you prepare to play at the next level. You have been a pleasure to watch the last 4 years.

These three youngmen are excellent examples of what you want in a Student/Athlete and everyone in the community of Ludlow are very proud of them.

    :thumb: Great Post!

  13. I haven't heard any other schools on here get upset about the Lloyd student section. Maybe the Ludlow faithful are more sensitive that everyone else.

There is a difference when a Lloyd student comes over to Ludlow's student section and starts to say inappropriate things to them. Also when Lloyd's cheering section says something about meeting them at half court after the game and then when the game ends, while players are still on the court, they all go to half court and stand. That does give us a little bit to be upset about.

  14. :ylsuper: The Lloyd student section is by far the worse that I have seen ever. They are vulgar, nasty, rude and not in the least bit funny or original in their cheering. Honestly I don't think they were cheering I just think they were trying to see how many obscene jesters they could fit into one evening. They are an embarassment to their school and the only thing worse then their behavior is that at no time did I see anyone (administrator) from their school ever come over and try to get them to act properly. There is a proper way for students to act at a game and still have fun. Many schools do it in good taste. The people in charge are the ones who ultimately are to blame and Lloyd administrators you have failed miserably and you should be ashamed.

:thumb: I totally agree with you, BigZig. I would expect it from some of the other teams that we play, especially teams in our conference, but not from Lloyd. I thought that they had more class than that. I guess I thought wrong. I'm not saying that everyone who watches Lloyd isn't classy, just the students that were in that cheering section.

  15. :ylsuper: It was a very exciting game that was close all the way unitl the end. Ludlow came out on top by hitting the shots that they needed to late in the ballgame. Congrats to all of the players, Coach Highfield, and his entire staff on a regional tournament berth. Hey BigZig what did u think of the officials and the Lloyd student section?

  16. Well I know Mr. Benny Clary because he is one of my good friends grandpa, and he is one of the best and nicest men I have ever met. My friend tells me all the time how whenever he goes out with his grandpa that it seems like that everyone they run into it seems like Mr. Benny Clary is already friends with or knows them already somehow. I know he is very big and well known in the community in Ludlow and just everywhere for that matter. In fact my senior year my class decided it would be an honor for us to have him as our grand marshal for are homecoming parade, so we elected him for it to show how much we recognize everything he does for us and the community.

I actually have known Benny, or "Pawpaw" as I like to call him, for all of my life because he is my grandpa. I am always amazed at the stories that everyone has to tell me about my grandpa. I am truly blessed to have him in my life and I wouldn't want anybody else to be my grandpa. Thanks BigZig for creating this thread, I know that my grandpa will really enjoy it. :thumb:

  17. Ludlow lost to Lloyd in what was their only game. If they seed, that would make Ludlow #3 right???

The district is not seeded, it is actually a blind draw. Great win for Ludlow tonight. This team is a pretty good team and hopefully this will give them the confidence that they need to make this season a successful one. :thumb:

  18. I dont know about that. They couldn't stop are offense all game long. Holy Cross has had trouble with that offense every year now since Hensley put it in. So if we would have played 10 times most of them wouldn't have been blow outs just because Holy Crosses defense wasn't that good and couldn't stop our offense. Holy Cross wouldn't have even won all 10 games if we played 10 times. I would admit they probably would have won more out of the 10 than us with Armstrong and Stone but we would would have won a couple times out of those 10.

As for the next rest of the times they meet, first it will depend on who gets the coaching job. It will probably be Randy Borchers or atleast it should be. If he is the coach then not much probably would change with the system so Ludlow should stay pretty successful. So Holy Cross probably wont even win next year. Ludlow returns mostly all of their starters from last years team that gave Holy Cross a great game with both teams just kept scoring after each other. So I think you might be a little quick on your prediction that Holy Cross will win 80% of the time because next year probably will be one of the first losses Holy Cross will be having to Ludlow of many for years to come.

:thumb: I agree with futurecoach it is a little too quick to say that in the next ten years HC will win seven or eight of those games. You never know what could happen next year, let alone ten years down the road.

  19. Randy Borchers, who is this guy? An assistant? Former player at Ludlow? What is his coaching background.

Randy Borchers played at NCC, but he has been an assistant caoch at Ludlow for a while now. I believe that he will be a great head coach and is definitly the right man to take over at Ludlow. :D
