  1. I have no clue what game that guy was watching, ther was no dirt play on either side it was 2 teams that were playing physical basketball, and Ryle won the game by wearing a very over matched Ludlow team. If im not mistaken i belive Ryle went to the free throw line 30 something times to Ludlow's 20 something. Either team could hit a free throw it seamed like. There was no technical foul called on that play it was an intentional foul and yes the kid did come back into the game.

 You are right..You have no clue...:flame:

  2. Sour grapes....you lost, if there was dirty play you had refs and the home court in your advantage and they didn't seem to notice it, so I guess you may be over reacting. I will say one thing about Ludlow, you have one heck of a girls coach. He used to be at Ryle and I wish he was still there. He is probably the reason for Ryle scheduling Ludlow.

:thumb: You are correct about one thing..Coach Stamm is an excellent coach and we are glad he has returned to his alma mater. We hope to keep him around for a while.

  3. It doesn't matter to me whom I'm for, I call it like I see it. But you don't know me so you wouldn't know that. Maybe your just sad that your team doesn't play physical  and lost. PS it wasn't the Ryle fans outside smokin'. ;) Anyone know why the freshmen game was cancelled?

Ok have it your way. I honestly could care less. I was there as an unbiased observer. Officiating for both teams was lousy to say the least which is pretty consistent for the 9th region.

Coach Mullins has a long way to go to get this team back up to Top 10 standards in NKY but I do wish him and the Ryle PLAYERS the very best with their season. Hopefully all the mommys and daddys will let this guy coach.

As for the freshmen game when I asked some Ludlow people I was told that Ludlow was unaware of any freshmen game being scheduled. Apparently a miscommunication. I think this was a 2 year contract with Ryle on the boys side and I doubt that the contract will be renewed.

  4. I still didn't see any dirty play. Ryle was much more physical if that is what you consider dirty. As for how long Mullins grace period is, Niemi had something like 7 out of 9 losing seasons. Where else do you get any more gracious than that.

 Then apparently you were outside with the smokers.:ylsuper: Honestly I don't think anyone expects someone with the name IM4RYLE to concede that their team might play a little dirty.. Cya

  5. I don't know about the team under Mullins now, but I've talked to numerous basketball fans who have thought in the past the Niemi's teams and Trames defenses are boarderline dirty. I can't say I have seen them this year, but I'm sure there is still a little of this left in the players from past coaches training. They do play physical, sometimes a little too physical.

I have watched enough basketball in my time to know the difference between physical and dirty. I like a team that gets physical and plays hard. I don't care for dirty play and intentionally trying to throw elbows. IMO what I say from Ryle on Saturday night came very close to crossing the line and at times they did. So yes there is apparently alot of that left being carried over as you possibly suggest.

  6. They have been good teams the last several years... Just curious, are Ryle and Ludlow in the same district? If not, why schedule this game?

Not sure why they scheduled each other this year and last. They are not in the same district but I think there are some friendships possibly between coaches on either the boys or girls side that made this happen..Could be wrong.

  7. Have the facts before you report please. There was NO T called in the game last night.

Excuse me, AN INTENTIONAL FOUL. I believe the youngman (31) came out of the game and not to sure if he was ever put back in by the coach and for that I respect him. As for my comments regarding some of Ryles rough play I stand by my statement that they didn't manhandle Ludlow as much as they just flat out played rather dirty IMO. I certainly wouldn't expect a Ryle fan to agree with me.. Nice tournout by the Ryles fans and hopefully they will continue to support their team because when it comes to playing schools their own size I don't see them doing to well. Wonder how long of a grace period you give Coach Mullins before they go after him like the previous coach..

  8. Are you all sure about that? Because I know 3 years ago my senior year, I got the award for being one of the top 24 players, but my teammate was the one nominated from my team for thats my boy award...

 No FC I'm not sure and that is the point of my original question. If they were one and the same then I have serious questions about one particular nominee and I don't think I need to tell you who. If it is soley on his football ability that he got the Top 24 then I can go with that but if he was also the schools "Thats My Boy Award" nominee then I'm appalled.

  9. You must be a "Top 24" selection to be one of the finalists for "That’s My Boy". Some of the more important criteria are GPA, extra curricular activities, community involvement, class rank are some as I understand in addition to being recognized for their football achievements.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. It is what I thought but wasn't exactly being told. Some schools need to do a better job of research before sending in a youngmans name and not doing or even worse not caring about anything other then the fact he was a decent football player. I know of one particular instance where the youngman met none of the criteria other then the fact then he was a good football player. Throw in the other criteria and unfortunately he didn't come close. Fortunately he wasn't one of the 3 finalists or I would have some very serious concerns. Personally I'm embarassed for the school and the youngman. Here's hoping a better job is done in the future. People will be watching closely.

  10. Ladies, let's calm down.:jump:

I know nothing about the process. But common sense would say that the Principal at least will inform the Super about his intentions. I'm sure the Super wouldn't have hired him if he didn't have confidence in his abilities to run the school. Doesn't mean the Prinicipal is necessarily asking for the Super's opinion. But if the Super had questions about the process and the candidate, I'm sure the Principal would provide him with that information.

Quickslick, take a deep breath. Now don't you feel better.

Again I must inform you that it is the SBDM Committee at the respective schools that hire a principal and NOT the Superintendent so he may or may not have confidence in his principals abilities. I do agree with your statement that common sense would suggest that the principal would inform the Super. Lets at least hope so..

  11. The fact of whether or not I am one sided as nothing to do with who gets to hire the coach . . . . . and the fact that you bring up Yeagle, Beechwood and Conner--is also funny to me. Just remember one thing--I don't get anything out of that deal. My plans have been set for nearly 2 years now--there is nothing that I would get out of this situation other than the piece of mind that a place that I care about would have gotten one of the most successful coaches in the history of Kentucky High School Football . . . PERIOD . . .nothing else . . nothing more.

Again--it would serve you better to make sure that you know what you are talking about before you speak. (Which is kind of the beauty of a message board in the first place--for the simple fact that you have no clue who I am or why I would be willing to stake something like my life on it).

As far as being one sided . . . . I don't think that I have ever argued with that. But--it also proves that you have no clue who you are talking about. Simply because--if you had a clue--you would know that my personal allegience would be in a completely different area than the person that you have brought up.

And for you to say that you are any different would probably mean that you are stretching the truth a little bit.

I think everyone has their favorite. Nobody goes into a deal like this and says "I don't care who gets the job" . . . .

At the end of the day--I have been around the block to know who the best candidate for this job is. That isn't a knock on anyone else (especially the sheriff--or a few other candidates). I have been around there enough to know who could get things done immediately. If it happens, great . . . if not . . that is life.

But--if you have spent as much time babysitting my posts as you allude to--then you would also see that I have communicated one consistent theme: I can live with ANY decision AS LONG AS IT IS A FAIR PROCESS.

And I have faith that the principal, the committee or even the cafeteria staff at Conner will do what is right for the kids. I have always said the same thing. And I will continue to say the same thing--because it is something that I believe.

 Still pretty sensitive about certain issues there are we QS. Personally I don't care if they hire Yeagle, Wolf, Marvin Lewis, Jim Tressel or Pickles the Petersburg Gravedigger for the Conner job. I'm sure they will find a good candiadate..And I do hope it works out for you..;)

  12. So he can fire someone he doesn't have a say in hiring? For some reason I don't think that's accurate.

Then you need to look it up because he as the Superintendent sends recommendations to the SBDM for interviews but the SBDM can keep asking for additional candidates and this has happened in the Boone Cty system recently because of animosity between the Super. and the SBDM at one of the schools in the district.. Mr Blavatt is of the opinion and a great many people agree with him that a Superintendent needs to have more authority when it comes to hiring a principal. So to answer your question, yes he can fire someone that he didn't hire..

  13. It's the Principal's school. If the Super didn't have faith in the Principal to hire and fire the right people he wouldn't have the Principal in that position.

Principals get hired by SBDM Committees now and not by the Superintendent so it is quite possible that the Superintendent doesn't have all that much faith in his Principal at a particular school. Not saying that is true but what is true is that Superintendent Blavatt has had an issue or 2 with Principals hired at other schools in his district that he didn't approve of and ultimately has even let one of them go. He has been very outspoken in how principals are currently hired. Just look it it up. He has been quoted in the paper on the subject.

  14. You may want to do the asking yourself . . . . . . . sometimes it is better to actually check--then speak.

The only thing that I will say is that I care about my life a lot more than yours--and I would be willing to bet on it . . .

The principal has the final say . . . . I have been around this block before.

I'm sure your Ky Superintendent of the Year winner will be glad to hear that he has no say in this matter. And I've watched you go around the block on a few issues in the past say regarding Yeagle, Beechwood and Conner and again I will only say your loyalty is to be commended even if it is a bit onesided IMO..Enough said..Hope it works out for you..

  15. The principal has the ultimate say on this one . .........

He can go with the recommendation of the committee or he can make a decision that is completely independent of said committee.

    He has complete authority over the process. . . . . . .

    As far as the candidates . . . . .

    I have heard similar to your first post, G . . . .

I have also heard about many who are interested, but just a small few who have applied at this point.

I have a feeling that most candidates will wait until the very end--which is 12/10/2006 . . .

 I'm sorry QS but ultimately the Superintendent and the approval of the School Board has the final say if and when a coach or any employee is hired. I know you are close to the situation on this topic and feel you are in the know but go ask your Super. if he just lets his principals just hire coaches without running it by him. I think he might enlighten you some.
