  1. Here is my comment. Doesn't matter today what X is ranked. What matters is what happens Saturday night. Plus I think rankings are kind of blah, blah, blah!!!

You and I are singin from the same hymn book TD. There isn't a poll out there worth the paper it's written on.

My point is: It didn't draw a single post, Good, Bad or Indifferent, which is near impossible to believe for the BGP Network.

  2. Not that familiar with the styles of Trinity & X (except they are very good and probably somewhat balanced)--Who benefits if bad weather hits between these two?

Since St. X predominately uses a Run Offensive and Trinity predominately uses a Pass Offensive, I think WET weather (Rain, Sleet or Snow) favors the Tigers. A football is hard enough on a good day to catch, a wet football is even harder.

If it is just cold with no precipatation, I think the weather is not a factor for either team.

    :thumb: GO TIGERS! :thumb:

  3. In keeping with the boxing analogy, I've seen this "Rope-A-Dope" before. Let'em win big in the regular season; then get'em in the Championship.

I for one still remember the sting from two years ago when the best team in the State didn't close the deal by winning the Championship Game.

I remember that knot in my stomach and the struggle to fight back the tears I saw in my sons eyes, who was a sophmore at the time, when he came down that ramp with the rest of his team mates back at St. X.

I remember the weeks afterward when you would think about what happened and get that sick feeling all over again.

These boys have not forgotten that feeling. They have Extra Insentive to win this game. That's part of the rivalry that no-one else can understand unless you've been through it!

Let's all pray for no injury's and a good hard faught football game. May the best team win.

  4. I have two.

    Manual- PRP playoff game 21-20

Davies County, Marshall County playoff game 22-21

    Both had exciting finishes.

JR - I know for a fact you did not SEE either one of these two games!

Outside of all the St. X games, the best game I saw this year was the Shelby Co. vs Eastern game at Shelby Co. Eastern had Shelby Co. down on the ground with there foot on their neck ready to run'em through and Shelby Co. got up off the ground and preceded to kick Eastern's collective butts. It was a great comeback.

  5. I saw this happpen on the baseball field when St. X thumped CAL last year. I thought it was awesome then and I still think it's awesome now.

These Boone Co. parents should be proud of their sons for taking the chance to connect with the other team members in a way that means a lot more than an athletic competition.

    Way to go Boone Co.

    What a class act!

    Stand tall and be proud!

  6. Well, I screwed it up. I only voted for St. Xavier in 6A and not the other classes. Now I can't go back in to change my votes.

Didn't read the instructions before I voted. It's a guy thing ya know.

So here are the rest of my favorites in the other classes:

    1A - Lexington Christian

    2A - Newport Central Catholic

    3A - Central

    4A - Lexington Catholic

    5A - Bowling Green

  7. OUSTANDING POINT!!! This is another big piece of the puzzle that we are working desperately to create... a great feeder program. Right now we are lucky. We have great coaches at all levels that are pushing the kids to do the right thing on and off the field. Great role models in the youth program are a big key to success at the high school level! :thumb: The great southeastern KY programs that I'm familiar with have awesome feeder programs. (Bell, Rock, Breathitt, Corbin, Belfry, etc.) Hats off to all these programs for setting great examples for young coaches everywhere!

I have said on this forum for years that this is EXACTLY why St. X and Trinity are successful. In the Louisville Catholic Grade School System there is the Catholic School Athletic Association (CSAA). It is very much the equivalent of the KHSAA. In the Louisville Catholic Grade School System there is an Athletic Director at each elementary school that is responsible for administering the rules and regulations set forth by the CSAA. In the Louisville Catholic Grade School System there are coaches and parents that start teaching the game of football to kids as early as the second grade. Granted it's just flag without contact until 5th grade, but the fundamentals begin early.

These kids by the time they get to St. X or Trinity have already played seven, yes 7, seasons of football. Many if them have won a Toy Bowl or two and have a taste and a dream of what it is going to be like playing for St. X and/or Trinity. Build a feeder system and the system will get better.

  8. I am a Stoney River at the Summit fan for steaks topped up with Creme Boulet!! Notice nobody mentions Ruth's Chris because we liked the Terrace better!

    Oh Yeah

    GO Tigers!

The best cut of meat, at the best price and best preparation in town is the Gorgonzola Filet at .....

    Bravos! Yes, Bravos!

No one ever thinks of steak at an Italian restaurant, but I'm telling you it's the best you will ever eat! PERIOD! Add the Garlic Mash Potatoes and side of Sesamee Green Beans, WOW!

    I ain't sayin; I'm just sayin, it's the best!

    Oh Yea......

  9. BirdieCat, you sound like you are trying to talk with too many grilled bratwursts stuck in your mouth. :thumb:

Back to this week's business: GO TIGERS...PUMMEL THE GREENWAVE! :fight:

Sorry Ox! I couldn't help myself, I watched to many old Westerns over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend! Except for Friday of course when I went up to watch our beloved Tigers whoop-up on them there Marshal Co. Marshals! "Badges? We Don't need no stinkin' Badges!"

BTW, did you try some of the venison chili they were giving away for a small donation. Somebody said it was fresh from that mornings hunt. Man was it good.

  10. Jim, you and Three of a Kind may be Siamese twins, based upon your uncanningly similar psychological ploys. You fellas can pop into a phone booth for a quick clothes change at any time.

Hopefully, both X and T will get past this semi-final round so that the no-name, just-luck Tigers can get a shot at the star-studded "Lit" and "Cantrell" #1 team in the state.

    OX,

I agree with your hope that both will escape any traps this week and earn the right to be there at the Final. Just please promise to "be gentle" with us next time around. X possesses probably the finest high school line (on both sides of the ball) in many years. That is where it will be won or lost and hope we do not get embarrased.

    Eeeeeasy now cowboys! :argue:

We boff gots some bidness ta tend to dis week, before we can get ta dat der State game nex week, Ya know!

  11. I also thank you for the directions.. is thurston before are after the stadium going north?

It's directly across from the Main Enterance to St. X's campus. They share a common stop light off of Poplar Level Road. St. X to the right and Thurston to the left if headed North on Poplar Level (i.e. Coming from I-264/Watterson X-way). Just look for the lights. You can see them from out on Poplar Level.

    Safe travels to all.

  12. Louisville St X at #13. Cincinnati Saint X at #1. Trinity jumps to 43 from 79. Montgomery Bell Academy at #36 after winning Tennessee state private school championship. Highlands not listed. ( Don't shoot me. I am just the messenger!)

    Hey JR,

When I clicked on the link it shows Louisville St. X tied at 17 with Union from Tulsa, OK.

Did I mess up again?
