  1. Nice win for the Tomcats. Congratulations on being 6-0.

Waverly’s D1 QB must have had an off night. I give the Tomcat D credit for that. I sure wouldn’t trade QBs with Waverly. Sam does a great job. I can’t wait to see the stats in the morning paper.

Alber had another good night – what a warrior. He delivered a vicious block for Sam that sprung a first down late in the game – what a hit. Rogers (#25) looked very good too.

Trent Hardy had some great tackles - I see you out there #74.

That block was Bad Cat material for sure heard the thump up in stands, the hitting continues .I like these Tomcats ,win or lose your going to get HIT.

Good win Tomcats ,take a break Tomcats and get for ready for Golden Eagles.:thumb:

  2. Absolutely! But don't under estimate the heart shown by the players - they showed tons of it tonight.

Right on Greybeard the Tomcat players played their Hearts out and if they keep improving every week we could really make some noise down the road .

One game at a time. :thumb:

This young bunch of Tomcats are playing like Tomcats of old improving each week.:thumb:

  3. Very special win Tomcats ,going to be hard to pick a BAD CAT this week.

Some awesome hitting being put on the Fighting Tigers tonight.

Congrats Tomcats from a old Tomcat, you guys played four quarters of BAD CAT FOOTBALL.

Good luck Tigers the rest of year and hope you win it all.

  4. It's a big test no doubt.

We weren't as big as Ironton in '05 either. But, the Tomcats found a way to make that 1-point game.

Last year's team played respectably well at Ironton. So there's that to build on.

It can be done. It will take a ton of heart and best efforts by every player and coach.

Your right Graybeard,it can be done.:thumb:

  5. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I said 2nd string. :D

In all seriousness, Ashland did look pretty good on defense. I'd like to see that Ironton game next week. If the Tomcats can pull off a win against Ironton, then it may be worth the trip to Fort Thomas later in the year to see what happens!

Congrats on a great win Tomcats, a win over Russell is always sweet.(Imo)Alber has alway been the Tomcats best back!

It could be ,but honestly the kicking game could kill us in field position.Im just guessing ,has any one seen Ironton play.

  6. I've got to back the Tomcats in this. But, I do not think it will be easy. The Tomcats better come ready to play and leave it all on the field. Belfry is always good.

Right on Greybread .Tomcats had better suck it up and get ready to play Bad Cat Football.

Tomcats improve each game play with speed and more speed and hit we come home winners.(IMO):thumb:

  7. So easy to talk proudly of your team on a year when you know your opposing team lost a lot to graduation. I agree Ashland is very good this year,And they should have the advantage. But, you can bet one thing for sure. The Rams will show up and give you everything they have until the final horn sounds. If the Tomcats win, then congrats to them, but you don't have to tell us Ram fans about "SHOWS", we've marched into "PUTNAM STADIUM" for the last 3 years and put on a "SHOW". Does anyone know if the game is tonite or tomorrow. Word has it there's a big chance of rain, wouldn't want to mess up that pretty field!!!:madman:

REFER to post #15 ,now here's mine.:madman: It should be a good game or (show) no harm.:thumb:

  8. I think you’re right ryanparker. Playing in the 5A district that we’re in (Woodford, Montgomery, Bryan Station and Johnson Central) has actually been good for us – made us stronger, IMO. However, Highlands and Cov Cath are VERY strong programs to run into in the early rounds of the playoffs. The first round win over Dixie Heights last year was a good win for the Tomcats.

I for one like playing strong teams. It helps us get better. (btw, Bryan Station moves up to 6A this year)

    I'm with you Greybeard. :thumb:

  9. I can't get to the morning practices. But, when they start evening practices I'll be there. How are they looking? Can you tell much about the line yet?

Graybeard were young and small up front but the attitudes and senior leadership I have saw and heard about may just make us special. We will know more when we strap on the head gears.

I truly beleave playing the tougher teams gives the players a look at what it takes to play at the next level,I hope we NEVER leave 5A if at all possible.:thumb:

  10. Good to hear from you Jericho51. It's about time to get serious about football. I like the sounds of the linemen's attitude too. I've heard they have put up some new records in the weight room. They will be a big key to the team's success. I hope to get to watch them in practice soon - maybe I'll see you there.

Hi Graybeard,I got to see some of Mondays practice .Coach Conley was there looking fit as ever.

I will be there early in the morning, see you soon.

  11. I also heard that upcoming senior Ben Stringer set a new team record for cleans in his weight division. If the Tomcats can continue to develop their line then I look for big things from Ashland.

I was talking to a assistant coach the other day and he seemed to be very pleased with the Tomcat progress. He told me the line was not big but was a bunch of hard working yes sir -no sir type guys.I personally like the sounds of this kind of attitude.:thumb:

  12. JC will have to play a perfect game to take this one. Highlands is a great team. The best game in the state. IMO #1 and #2 in 5A. It a shame they have to face each other so soon.

Colonel Fan, I read your post all last week about how one dimensional JC was. Looks like CC got a dose of one dimensional smash mouth tonight. Your team is out! I will say that Van Sant is a good a player as we have faced, great speed.

Will Chris Collinsworth be at the game? I would love to get his autograph!

When I was younger in the 70s I use to hang out at Collinsworth corner Grocery on Beach St. and South 29th St in Ashland, word has it and old man Collinsworth always said he was Chris's Grandfather.

They were very good people and always treated everyone good and would let people living from paycheck to paycheck run a monthly tab.Good old days.

I won't miss this game , JC has always treated everyone from Ashland with respect, play good hard nosed football and have the best grilled cheeshburgers around and plenty of room and tables to eat at and talk.

JC has a very nice stadiam and nice atmosphere for football.
