I was a political science major, and I have lots of friends who went on to law all over the country. Most of the young lawyers I know self-medicate.
-
Quick to dismiss him beating UF and Miami though. You UL people are something
The Florida win was something, but no more impressive than Petrino's over WVU in 2007, and arguably less so. The only thing impressive about the Miami win was their name and how thorough it was. They were 9-3 and had lost three of their last five, including an 18 point loss to Duke.

That's why I've been saying for a while they are gonna miss that Strong guy a lol bit, even with his boring offense.
On the other hand, he couldn't win the AAC title with three first-rounder players...
-
I have no problem with the ruling but are they and should they be consistent with what else happens. If someone makes a racist remark are they also banned from NBA. I mean isn't calling someone racist names a racist?
This goes for all involved. Where is the line drawn.
You make it sound like Sterling made one off-color comment and got banned from the NBA for it, which isn't the case at all.
-
This Grantland conversation piece came out before the decision, but I think it lays it all out pretty well.
Dude had to go.
-
It's been a long time coming. Even someone without Sterling's history would have gotten the hammer over this, but for a guy that has done the things that he's done and said the thing's that he's said, all while being a non-contributory leach on the league for three decades? Who can say that they're surprised.
And, yeah, he deserves every inch of it, and count me with Deuce as far as questioning people who have a problem with it. If Magic gets the team, I will be buying Clipper gear up.

Drawing 52,000 for a team contending for a BCS title vs drawing 59,000 for a 2-10 team says quite a bit about the fan bases, too.
Not really, because in one case the tickets are likely walk-up free on game day, seeing as there are almost ten thousand empty seats.
Probably also helped that Louisville, Florida, Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee fans bought up some of those tickets. I don't think FIU, Rutgers, Central Florida, Houston, and Memphis bring quite as many fans with them.

Question for the UL fanbase... do you all feel you made a lateral move in bringing Bobby in? My point is and has been, I don't think you all realize what Charlie did for you.
Go look at various coaching rankings, most of the experts think we traded up. Personally, I think Strong is still growing into the position and will be a better coach down the road than he is now. I also think his PR skills with the fans were a negative, and his dictation of a conservative offense hurt the team on and off the field. Petrino is a much better fit in that regard, but I'm biased- I like to joke that football-wise, Bobby Petrino is my spirit animal.
I also think Strong took one of the worst jobs he could have picked in terms of having traded up (no denying he did) but still stepping into a situation where I have my doubts that he will succeed. I also think that Vance Bedford had a lot more to do with Louisville's defensive success than a lot of people realize. That radar defense in the Miami game was beautiful.

Rick Pitino has even said it, on many occasions...'in a town where 50% of the fan base is UK fans'.
If Rick has said that, he's mistaken. Not even in basketball is half the city Kentucky fans.

Senior day was sell out this year??
..The reason I mention senior day is bc I remember hearing that it was embarrassing considering their success.
For the record, I'd love to be proved wrong here. As Cowherd says, I'm not one about being right, I want to get it right.
It was a sellout, but the stadium wasn't full.

-
You never have liked reality. Your recycled coach ain't bringing no Teddy's with him and or a bunch of a Florida stars.
Petrino didn't need Teddy to beat UK last year...
-
They didn't go head-to-head on either Reggie B or Bolin, right?
As far as that goes, I don't think Strong really cared about Tubman. I would say they certainly didnt put more resources into him than UK did with Bonnafon.
-
Also: Tubman, 3* DT from Louisvlle
Bolin, 4* QB from Lexington.
-
Having some with you on the "back yard" comment.
Taking Hatcher and Tubman out of the city of Louisville is strong. Unless I'm missing someone that's 2 of the top 3 recruits in the city in the last two classes for Stoops.
3 of 4 if we want to include E-town in the discussion.
People in E-town might want to be included, but nobody in Louisville would think it was appropriate.
In the past two classes, the best two players are for sure at UofL- Quick and Bonnafon.
-
UK will pass UL really soon.
Any day now.
-
So, now that context establishes that it's a comment of the "Louisville doesn't exist" variety, can we agree that:
1) LOL
and
2) Bobby is pleased to be given an excuse?
-
Are there people in NKY who root for other teams besides UK? Of course. However, it's probably less than the # of people in Louisville who root for UK.
How about by percentage? Because in football, I don't think that's a slam dunk.
The Louisville back yard is getting a little overgrown and shoddy looking. Please, be specific.
-
I'd invite you to NKY to see that it's NOT Notre Dame and Ohio State.
You're reaching.
His point is spot on and the in-state recruiting shows that - even in the Ville.
On this board, there are several guys who are UK basketball fans but primarily Ohio State and Notre Dame football fans. Or am I imagining that? I'll admit I was trolling to represent it that the plurality of NKY would belong to those fanbases, but they are there.
UK comes into Louisville for a player or two, but in general UofL keeps their backyard clean. They definitely take the majority of who they want.
-
In his defense... and I don't know why I'm doing that... unless he specifically mentioned Louisville for some reason, I can't imagine that's what he meant.
Boo.:sssh:
-
I think he's using "town" to mean the entire state.
He is correct.
Except in Louisville (where it's UofL) and NKY (where it's Ohio State and Notre Dame.) And they're definitely sharing space with Tennessee in the South, WVU in the East and Mizzou in the West. But other than that, they OWN this state.
Again, basketball is a different story. No one will deny that.
-
Can you provide some context?
It's twitter. I did provide the context.
-
Per Kyle Tucker of the CJ's twitter.
First of all, if the 'town' in question is Louisville, that's hilariously off base (ESPECIALLY in football) and has been so thoroughly adjudicated on this site that I won't even bother refuting it.
Second, bet Bobby doesn't take a knee.
-
Louisville got a pretty favorable schedule for being the new kid, IMO.
What do you remember about your first UK football game?
