Northwestern's Jared Carpenter was selected MVP at the Gator Bowl this year. He also graduated and has taken a job with the University.

Trent is playing in his last Army game. He has been the starting qb since his freshman year and has broken many Army scoring/rushing records. Not bad for a player who got little attention in hs. Please don't hijack this thread by bringing up other players that you think are better. Let's just congratulate Trent.

Something that has been mentioned upthread, but Bowling Green is fantastic at academics and is regionally very good in all sports. They have a tremendous support system that is built upon a school that has existed for 104 years and has played football since 1922. They do attract some talent from surrounding schools - they are hardly alone in that respect around here.
I appreciate DF's comments. I am most proud of the great job BGHS does with its academics. It has a very diverse school population, large percent of free/reduced lunch, large number of minorities, more that 20 different languages (ESL), and a very successful AP program. BGHS is also successful in other sports, for 2011-12, using the RIHERDS listed sports, they had a combined record of 189-44 (80+%) and were regional competitors in those same sports.

I don't see anybody bragging , Just stating their opinion , no harm done. When was the last time BG played Elder , or for that matter Cincy X ? While I'm at it , did they ever srimmage Trinity ? HHS starting QB played one series in the Elder game due to injury.
As far as the state title games go , Highlands was playing a much better team than what BG was playing !
BG plays Trinity. St X this year and T the last 3 yrs and X before that. Last year T won 14-12. BG has almost the exact same team from last year just better.

Diving catch in the endzone by Sam. 62-20 7:35 to go...
-
TD bghs. 55-20 10:40 to go in the game.
-
TD John hardin. 2:40 left first half 48-20 Purples.

Yep whoops! 48-13...
Yes, I'm at the game. Nice defense tonight. Awesome game! U couldn't blink in the first quarter and we were running back a defensive td!
Very impressive passing game too. Two very long passes; They can't do anything with Fant, and Scooter has precision passing.
-
48-14 halftime...
-
John Hardin with about an 80 yard KO return. :17 left n the half for them to try to punch it n.
-
48-7. 4 defensive touchdowns (well this last one was returned to the 1)

Congrats Brandon! Trent Steelman from BG was their freshman quarterback this year.

Mason played three games in that gym.
Other than fan seating how was the small gym different? Were the goals only 9 feet from the floor? Just explain how playing in the other gym would have translated into a win for Mason? I can detect a distinct odor of sour grapes.

Anderson is a really good player. If Mason plays Greenwood anywhere but at Bowling Green in the small gym this would have been a different outcome. Is anyone from outside Bowling Green surprised that BG and Greenwood played in the finals. The referee's in the Franklin-Simpson and the Greenwood was horrible. One ref in the Franklin game made all kinds of simple mistakes like not knowing with way to go after time-outs and quarter stops. In the Greenwood game, Mason guards play in your face defense and the guards from Greenwood would swing the ball around and intentionally elbow or guards in the mouth and they would call the foul on Mason. Twice Anderson committed fouls under the basket and he even raised his hand and they reported the foul on #13. At one point in the second half, the fouls were 12 to 2 until when the game was in hand they called fouls on Greenwood. Mason shot 10 for 13 and Greenwood shot 24 for 36. Congradulations Greenwood. :ohbrother::ohbrother:
What do you mean by small gym?

I obviously would have liked to see Central win, but I can't fully say that I'm upset that Bowling Green won't get that rematch. I don't think that would have ended well.
I don't know how a rematch would have turned out, but the BG team that played tonight was not the same one that played WC earlier.

Do you really believe that Academics and athletics should be considered equal in a school system?
-
I suggest you go to a school adm office and talk to a DPP or other administrator and gather your information. They can also tell you which state regulations pertain to your question.
The info you get on a message board might not be the most reliable.
If you turned in a paper to me using message board info. you would certainly not get a good grade. Don't be lazy.
-
How will the new high school affect Central (also Greenwood). I know the administration and board are working on the boundaries but have not heard anything about how they will change the make up of the teams?
-
Question is: who is the best player for Bowling Green...I would get an insurance policy!
For those of us who are not in the know, what did you mean by this statement?
-
Bowling Green is not very good. The best two teams in the region were upset and Bowling Green had an easy path and still almost blew it.
If Lexington Catholic plays well at all they will win by 15 or more.
I assume you probably think Warren Central was one of the two best teams in the region, who is the other one?
-
I am surprised too. They were the class of the 4th and we(BG) never beat them this season. However, their loss is our gain, and I'll be there next week to cheer on my Purples!!!!!!!!!!!
BG did beat WC during the regular season by 7 pts I think.

The paper says he will teach in the BG system in the fall. It might be a little early to declare a "head coach in waiting."
