This was a good win for the Tigers on the road to open up the season against a solid program like Corbin. The Tigers also played without their starting shortstop Brandon Mobley. Nathan White pitched three innings and freshman Nick Gray pitched four scoreless innings to finish out the game.

Jayme Gilbert had 35 pts. in this game. South Laurel played a great game but Clay pulled it out in the end. Good luck Lady Tigers against Corbin monday night.

A game effort by North comes up short. You hate to see any kid get hurt. Best wishes to Rogers and hope for a quick recovery. She plays as hard as any player in the region. Bad break for the Lady Hounds.

The first round crowds have not been overflow crowds. Beginning Friday night it will take much longer to get the North/South fans out and the Clay/Barbourville fans in. Then you will see why this much time was allowed.

North Laurel and Red Bird drew in the top bracket. Clay County plays OBI with the winner to play Jackson County in the bottom bracket.

Didn't Corbin lose to Pineville at home?

Good win for the Tigers in front of a nice crowd. It seemed like a tournament atmosphere.

How long is Whitaker expected to be out?

Sarah Burchell and Melanie Smith are Clay County's top 2 players. Both are sophmores.

Clay County's girls beat Corbin back in the summer at Corbin's team camp and Jayme Gilbert didn't play. She was playing with the Junior all-star team. Clay has talent other than Gilbert. That being said Clay's players and coaches know that Corbin is a very good team and they will have to come ready to play.

He will be back in the lineup today. He had to be out of town yesterday.
