  1. If at Belfry, bet on Belfry.

If on neutral field, bet on Belfry

Since at Putnam Stadium, bet on Ashland.

The player of the game will be the home field advantage.

"you've got to know when to hold em' know when to fold em' know when to walk away and know when run.

  2. I didn't know how many. I didn't think that they were tremendously effective on the ground even with the diversity of having a quality passing attack. Total offense for them was actually less that Ashland I think. Special teams is where the game was won. Ashland got called for a penalty or they were up 9-0 and Raceland had two great returns, one for 6. Football is a funny game. I don't think that Ashland has any kids that are capable of breaking a long one, they will have to be very discipline and learn to finish drives with points if they are to be competitive.

  3. Yes but you do realize that was the ONLY loss that Russell had on their way to winning the state championship. Plus it was to a non ranked 3a team.

BTW Russell finished the season at 14-1 last year...........:sssh:

I am just saying that to think that Ashland doesn't have a chance in any of these games is wrong. They may lose all, they may win all. Russell won all but 1 (against an average opponent)

  4. Also in fairness to Ashland, I know the guy who scheduled RH's games and he didn't call Verity. So, I hope that people aren't hacking on Ashland for not scheduling them, they weren't called. They were presumed to have a full schedule at the late date that RH scheduling occurred. I'm thankful that Boyd placed the 2 together in their grid however to give the kids the chance to play.

I agree doc, personally I say "Let them play" Most need to keep in mind that up until this point Rose Hill has never had a football team and still have never fielded an 8th grade football team. This could create a problem for them if trying to schedule games next year.

  5. In fairness I would say that Ashland's schedule was probably completed before Rose Hill began scheduling.

I guess that could be one of the obvious reasons. Scheduling? I realize it must have been difficult to arrange a schedule at such a late date. Kudos to the Rose Hill staff for completing it. I even think I saw a thread on this board asking for games. Don't remember if there was any response. Even if there is no game scheduled in the future, do you feel like one is owed?

  6. Verity is Ashland. Verity is Ashland's middle school. The thread, to be relevant to most BGPers, should have been titled "Rose Hill 22, Ashland 0" and should have remained in the football forum. Most, but certainly not all, of the damage was done by players who reside in the Ashland district. Of course, those players also reside in the Rose Hill district. For obvious reasons, the two teams will not meet later in the season.

When were the two schools involved schedules made out? Was it before this game or still undecided?

  7. I can't imagine her letting that happen! They'll always have the scarlet letter, and although you had one as well, just a different one! Imagine if another Yak up the road heard you were bringing your little Yaks to get a different scarlet letter. He'd jump for joy! Then the odds of playing RH in foosball would be very good!

Probably right. She is funny that way. Would be a good joke someday.

  8. I watched that and they were awful, no thanks, of course that was Butkus, perhaps Ditka would be better. I don't want to make Mrs. Yak upset, I don't understand why she would be. She doesn't have a dog in the fight. Of course, in the future, I could see RH as another alternative for kids that are disgruntled with other programs to leave, something Cubster is incredibly high on.

My bad it was Butkus. She would be upset if she thought that her little yaks were going to play elsewhere. That would be the joke.

  9. I just hope that others don't spoil the gifts that they have been given. Very few will ever get the opportunity that these will. I hope that things work out for them. Randy Moss fell in the draft due to off the field issues. I realize that it was in different league but it cost him considerably on his first contract and in endorsements. The question was never if he could physically play just the baggage.
