  1. Does the top scorer in the state last year not even get mentioned in his own region as far as a top 10 player? That's a shame, after seeing him in aau considering most of you say Bryan only scores so much against his competition is dead wrong. Last weekend at sportsplus it looked as if he was averaging about 20-25 a game and with passes that were phenominal. This year he could average as much as he wants in his conference, but wouldn't have any problem putting 30-35 on any team in the region. I also saw him up at UC and he did an amazing job stopping Justice from Shelby Co., and he's thought to be the best in the state. Without a doubt the kid can score and everyone knows that by now, but looking at his aau game from "better competition" not much has changed.

I would have to agree with some of your points. This kid can flat out play!! He won't get the credit because he is from a D3 school. That shouldn't matter but it will in some people's eyes. All defenses were set up to stop him and he stilled scored a ton this past year. But I don't think he will score 30 -35 at will in his conference next year because again teams, if they are smart, will run defenses to limit his touches. With that said, he will have a great year. If a school (College) takes a go at him (Which they should) it will be outside the area because local people will say, "Who does he play against" This is extremely similar to The Grove a couple of years ago when they had "Corey Pelle" and most were saying the same about him. But West Liberty State is awful happy other schools did because he is tearing it up!! I feel Bryant can do the same at the next level. He is the real deal!!!

  2. Again, as stated in an early post, Coach Kues was not asked back because of someone in the building wanting the job. I have not had a chance to speak with either coach personally, but I do know that the Superintendent was very happy with BOTH coaches and the results that they got. If the others in administration are happy with the new coach and the girls on the team are happy with what is going on than all of this seems to be over-kill.

To bring my part to an end, I wish all good luck and it helped me make an easy decision on my childs next stop.

Unfortunately I am hearing the administration (and Board) are the problem with everything at that school. "Running it into the ground" was a quote from one of the employees there.

  3. Silver Grove is looking for a new coach as they have told the man responsible for bringing back the girls program he is no longer welcome or wanted. Coach Kues was dedicated to those girls and really had them coming around. I believe he had everyone coming back from this past team and they were really excited about the upcoming season. It is a shame that the leaders of that school are threatened by anyone who excels and is well liked.

I wonder if his name will pop up for openings. Would Brossart take him back?

  4. Congrats to Boone also on an excellent season. Baseball is a funny game and the hardest of the three major sports to predict. Good luck to Ryle also the rest of the way. Special congrats to Boone new coach this year, Coach Huff. He had some doubters and although they didn't get to the region like they are expected, and he had a lot of talent, I think he proved and will continue to prove in the years to come he is a quality coach and a quality Man.

  5. I have heard the same about Stamm. He WILL be back! According to my source who is more than in the know... I think it's the cities accusations and assumptions that have led to this talk and not Stamm. The city thinks he is going to move on when the talent level will drop like a few other Ludlow coaches in other sports there have. Stamm is one of a dying breed which is a true coach. By that I mean you build your program with what you have to deal with. You show pride in what you have whether your up or down. Your talent and size will come back. Stamm knows that and will not leave. He's one of a kind.

I am trying to think what coach left because "OF THE TALENT LEVEL DROP"

With that said: Stamm did and does a great job and being a Ludlow Panther and having the success he has had says a lot about the job he has done!! And he is a great guy!! The school is lucky to have him. He is truly dedicated to those kids and the school.

  6. "Assuming "big picture" means academics also, how does his son benefit from passing on better educations at other local public & private schools? This is not bashing on Bellevue, but the academic opportunities are not on the same level as those availalbe at other local institutions that were available to him." Quote From FT Bronc

Kudo's for the Jones's attendind the school in the district where they live. If all schools did this you would see a lot better players at the smaller schools. Unfortunately the bigger schools tend to get those kids from outside their district to attend their school "SOMEHOW!!"

Looks like FT Bronc would like to see Hunter at Highlands next year. I am sure he has been contacted!!!

  7. As far as experience, Wayne has probably over 15 years of coaching experience including the last 7 or 8 years as a head coach. I believe he has plenty of experiece. If there is any baseball talent at Boone, they will win games. If there is little talent but he has some PITCHING, then he should at least be in games!!!

I think Boone made a really nice choice. Coach Huff is going to surprise some people.

  8. There are also three other players from Silver Grove that people are looking right over the top of. It is the McCarter family. Scott McCarter played in the late 70's and early 80's. I'm not sure of all his career totals but I do know that he ended up with over 1,000 career points. Son Chad McCarter played at the end of the 90's and the beginning of the 2000's. He had over 2,000 career points and was the all-time leading at Silver Grove until his brother passed him. He was one that was extremely hard to guard. If you over played him he would just go right by you. If you backed off of him he would just pull and hit a jumper with no problem. Brother Bryant McCarter played from 2000-2005. He came out as the schools all-time leading passing his brother during the 2005 season. He also had over 1,000 career rebounds and maybe closer to over 1,500 career rebounds. He was only 6'1'' and was one the most dominant post players in Northern Kentucky while he played. This trio of family members will go down as maybe the best family to ever play at the school of Silver Grove. This family will always be remembered for all of their accomplishments that they achieved.:thumb:

    HERE !! HERE!!:ylsuper::ylsuper:

  9. Corey Pelle was hands down, the best player to come out of the Grove. He led the entire Greater Cincinnati area in scoring at 29 ppg and was named the Enquirer Player of the Year. And before you knock the schedule, he did this against the All A champs and state leader in defense, Bishop Brossart (3 times). He is currently averaging 15 ppg for D 2 West Liberty College, who is 6-1. Pelle also leads the conference in steals and assists.

He was also the starting point guard on 2 conference championship teams. Is having a great college career so far. Was on their all freshman team last year in their conference. West Liberty got a STEAL!!!! Chad and Bryant McCarter were also great at that school. Ken Hedges was also a Great Player!! Believe he went to Northern. The Grove had some great teams in the late 70's.

  10. It went something like Lloyd (who had trailed the entire game) had cut the lead to two and then caused a turnover with less than a minute left. The kid that caused the turnover turned around and and then he and a teammate jumped and gave it a "chest bump." One of the officials saw it and gave a technical to 'em both for excessive celebration/taunting. Dayton hit the FT's and got the ball and it pretty much put the game on ice.

They received a technical for a chest bump? I find that hard to believe. If that is true that official should be reprimanded or most games should start with free throws since many kids run out to the floor at the start of the game when their names are called and chest bump each other out by mid-floor. There had to be some sort of comment made or gesture.

  11. Hmmm.

    Is the jury still out?

I think I am agreeing with you, Beechwood has by no means been dominate in Div. 3 In the last 10 years I know Ludlow has won 3 (Shared 1 with Beechwood and Silver Grove) Silver Grove has won "5" (Shared 1 with Beechwood and Ludlow) and Bellevue won 1. So to say that Beechwood is dominating Division 3 is a joke!!!!

  12. Ever wonder if Beechwood should try to move out of DIII....They win 95% of the games and rightfully so. They just always have more talent than every other school in that division. It is always fun to win, but do you think they get bored with some of the competition. I can understand it if it was a one time through type of deal, but in DIII, you have to play everyone home and away. That is 14 games a year. It is great for all the other small schools who really don't have anyone else around here to play competitively, but Beechwood is mostly heads and shoulders above these teams. Yea, I know some of them are close games, but you have to consider that these other schools really get up for the "Beechwood Game" cause they know that they are always the favorite. I know that some years other schools compete for the DIII title (don't rip me for that), but traditionally Beechwood is just a better program with more athletes to choose from. I'm just saying that I bet their coach feels like playing DIII schools twice a year is a bit of a waste.

Who do you think Beechwood could consistently beat outside of DIII? Boone Co? No, Ryle? No, Highlands? No. I think they are going through a nice cycle of talent that is all.

Are you serous? How many conference championships has Beechwood won in the last 10 years. Check it out. They had a good year last year, and have a lot of talent this year, but this kind of talk is NONSENSE!!!

  13. As long as they are in DIII they are not going to beat these teams. That is why they need to move out of it or the scheduling rules need to change to help all DIII schools be competitive.

How does scheduling make DIV 3 schools competitive. I thought talent made you competitive. The football certainly doesn't have a problem being dominate even though they play the A district schedule. This is Beechwood arrogance at its finest. Why they have this in basketball is beyond me. If anything they should be talking about the football team.

  14. This is a shocker. Congrats go to the Panthers and Coach Yager. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Panthers on 2/14/09 when Oldham comes to town.

I'm really surprised by Owen...I didn't expect any stumbles by this team in the early part of their schedule. They've got an awful lot of talent, inside-outside, on that team.

    Again, kudos to the Panthers!

I know Carroll started the season 0-2, but hey have some serious talent on that team. They will certainly be a team to reckon with. I am not surprised at all by this win.

  15. X is coming off back to back final 4 appearances. I don't really see Mason Co keeping this one within 10. X size will wear them down.

    St. X 67

    Mason 52

If X scores 60 points I will be surprised. You think Highlands works the ball for a good shot, X will put you to sleep running their offense. They graduated a lot of talent last year, Massa was hurt during the football season I do not know if he is even back yet. The game will be in the 40's or 50's unless somehow Mason can get baskets in transition and force X to play way faster than they want. I am sure X has talent but it is not Varsity experienced. With that said I like X 54-45. GO BOMBERS!!!!

  16. Grant County must have not played very well. I watched Ludlow play Carroll Co. in a scrimmage and Carroll Co. beat Ludlow by 40 pts. I felt like Grant should have won this game by 20+.

You used the right word. SCRIMMAGE, they really don't matter much. Plus their football players just started. They will win some games this year.
