Back to the hire... I would have expected this to have been officially announced by now. Did that happen and I missed it or should we be worried there's been a snag?
-
I think the entire site is finally able to see who causes the UK/OSU battles. I said it was a good hire and OSU is brought into it. Yes, again I said it was a good hire.
OSU got brought into it because people see through you and your fanboy position on everything. I'm probably not the first person you've PM'd because they made a comment about your beloved Buckeyes. I hope you haven't made a habit of attacking their character or service to their country like you did me. I've made it pretty clear what I think about you. Another thing that is clear is you've got no right to talk about anyone's fandom. The comment that was made about you saying Meyer's hire would be a home run was spot on whether you like it or not. Besides shouldn't you be watching reruns on the big10 network? I'm sure their showing something about OSU in their glory days? Is their any of that footage in color?
-
Once again you are the one who mentioned OSU in this thread then play the victim role afterward because someone said it's only a "good" hire. Most people don't define "good" as a bad thing, certainly not condescending or in any matter that would suggest a pompous attitude, but you are gonna spin your way as all the UK people do who focus on OSU.
How about we move on with the fact that I said it is a good hire for UK?
Don't you have an OSU drum to beat and march to? It's funny you criticize UK fans for commenting on OSU but you're free to talk about UK? And don't worry, unlike you I won't be sending you any defamatory PM's to you just because you did talk about UK...
-
That is what I was implying. They shoudn't be happy about UK hiring their OC away. Was just saying what I saw.
I wasn't trying to imply you were thinking that. I was just commenting on what their (WVU fans) are saying. I don't think schools pay QB coaches 300k like WVU did Dawson.
-
I thought he said it was going to be Lincoln Riley? This hire came out of nowhere.
Yea he's been set on Riley for weeks now... He did admit that a caller mentioned Dawson yesterday and he blew it off. That's a big step for Matt...
-
Yeah from what I'm reading from WVU fans is that he is a glorified QB coach. Holgorsen called the plays. Not a bad hire though.
Of course their gonna say that now. Wonder what they thought an hour ago?
Bottom line for me is, I like the fact he has something to prove. Most of the time those people are more driven than people that have tasted success at a high level. Successful play calling is achieved through routine, timing and consistency. Most of that is done in practice and the film room. Beyond that, in game situations you mostly depend on a situational play sheet or fall back on something you've had earlier success in... I'm not concerned at all that he didn't call the plays during the game at WVU, I believe he most likely did the harder behind the scene stuff and just built a hunger while doing it.
-
I believe Stoops likes that Dawson is a more vertical guy than East/West... I realize it takes some East/West and that's an extension of the run game but I believe at times UK did too much of that and became predictable with it. Based on some comments Stoops made throughout the year I believe he felt that way as well.
-
I'm excited about this hire. This guy is young and will be hungry to prove he's a "play caller". It works well for Stoops as well because Dawson is used to working well under the HC so there shouldn't be a riff when Stoops puts his opinion in... As in slow down, my defense needs a minute... Or don't score so quick!!!
-
Funny to watch his followers jump on Twitter.... Hope he has notifications turned off!!!

Worked for Mumme for 3 years...
-
If this hire turns out to be real, I love it... WVU is a much better school than ECU and any success there carries more weight for me. WVU put up big #'s this year against better competition than ECU...

Matt Jones is confirming the report now
-
I know im your target but you are delirious of you think its just OSU fans on here who are obnoxious.
Would it be considered obnoxious to send someone a derogatory PM after they commented on your favorite team? Just curious...

Here is the story for this UL fan.
I think it is a slap in the face to UL fans. Here is my reason we are 3 hours from Nashville and would have painted the city red. The reward she be to the teams and fans that support them. Sending UL to the Belk Bowl adds another 4 hours to our drive. Ask many of the teams around the ACC and they will tell you that in year 1 of the ACC the Cardinal Nation traveled well. So because we travel so well (Just Like the UK fan base) UL fans wanted to be in Nashville if we couldnt go to Florida.
Also a few years a go the Belk Bowl status wasnt at the same level currently. So that is another reason UL fans are upset. Many feel 9-3 record deserves a bigger bowl. I actually thought the Gator Bowl was the spot UL should have landed.
I'd agree with everything you're saying... The only thing I'd say is it appears to me that UL could have gotten an upgrade by getting a chance to play Georgia. It is a further drive but not so bad UL can be a force. If UL wins it will be a much better win IMO than beating LSU at Nashville.

The Big 10 sucks, not one team deserves to be in, OSU struggled with a pathetic Michigan team
Careful here. Everytime someone talks bad about OSU an angel loses its wings...
-
Congrats to WKU... Nice reward for a good season.
-
I would guess it would be because the posting would have ended on a non-business day. Now it ends on a business day.
I'd agree with that. Being that UK is a public university I would think the job has to remain open until it is filled? Not sure if that is right but if it is does that mean we can expect it to be filled tomorrow?
-
So what's the problem then? LSU is better than Georgia. Seems like a more favorable matchup for UL to me..
Depends on which LSU shows up. Georgia beat Arkansas and Auburn two teams LSU lost to.
-
Just my opinion, but I think it's completely plausible that the SEC wanted a better match up (by better I mean more winnable) than LSU/Louisville. Having UL play UGA and LSU play ND increased the SEC's chances in both of those games. It's also possible that the bowl selectors just went with the better match ups. For instance, ND/UL could have been on both bowls radar and they just went with the better match ups?
-
I'm not sure how hungry UL would be in this game but a few year ago against UF they were as hungry as any team I've seen in a while. I know a lot has changed since then but I'm not sure anyone wants to play UL.
As for the MCB, it is a lot of fun and the UL fans would enjoy their time there.

Bonnafon is fine.
Heard he was at 60%...

I think SW will be really good next year but Im not expecting another semi-final game. Other teams will come closer to matching their speed and depth in 4A. Their stellar defense will face much more talent than it did this year and I'm not convinced they'll get good enough on offense to make the run they did this year...

Interesting considering TCU/Baylor give up 50-60 points to each other.
The next game for OSU, Baylor and TCU will have everyone wondering if they got this right. In large part due to what Alabama is going to do to OSU. The good thing is Bama will probably get the opportunity to rest some guys for the NC game...

Thanks.
I don't know how I missed it... Didn't see anything on Twitter from Coach Stoops or the other UK outlets I follow.
