Is this game being broadcast on the internet?

Congrats to Brad Carr and the Scott Eagles on another magical mystery tour through the 37th. Kellen Smith is flat out fun to watch. Best of luck to the Eagles next week at The Fieldhouse!

Boy do I miss Terry Boehmker's column's. Reading this brought me back to the golden days of picking up the KY Post to read the sports section.

Winner goes to Region and loser goes home. Just the way it should be for these crosstown rivals. Regular season game went into OT and the Camels won 64-61.
The bigs for the Camels (Graff & Franzen) have been playing well lately and are the key in this game.
My prediction: Camels win 67-59.
Tipoff is at 7:30 at Campbell County Middle School.
If someone puts 67 points on the board (regulation) and plays any sort of defense against Bishop Brossart, they will win. However, I truly feel that won't happen Wednesday night, nor any night this week. Campbell is by far the more athletic team, but give Mike Code six days to prep for your offense and you'll be fortunate to score in the 50's. This will be a fun game to watch, no doubt about that.

I think the loyal mafia is stronger then the PHM or the blue bird mafia.
The Loyal Mafia is far an away stronger than any mafia in NKY.

Congrats to all officials making their first, or return, to the Sweet 16. Glad to see O'Hara and Pouncy go from the 9th. Best of luck to all.

Congrats to Covington Catholic and Newport Catholic on great seasons. I'd say both have a whole lot to be proud of, win or lose. It was nice to see Coach Tieman at the game last night. As for the game, what a good one. This is the third year in a row that the finals have come down to the last minute of the game. You hate to see anyone lose, but this is why the tournament is so special. From the fog and spotlight, to cutting down nets...couldn't ask for a better way to end your season. Again, great job by both teams and coaches.

Is there any type of rule that prevents teams from bringing frosh down from their JV teams that haven't played frosh ball all season? Also, will the age limit affect any rosters?
The only requirement is that all participants must be freshman or younger. So, an 8th grader can play up, but a 10th grader can't play down. No rule preventing bringing a freshman down from the JV team for the tournament. I don't know if I remember any coach doing so in the past, but many kids who play both, or all three, have played in the tournament. Ludlow will have a freshman who plays on all three teams and is pretty talented.

CCH freshman handled Simon Kenton pretty handily early in the season and also, i believe Newport and Ludlow are not in this tournament consistantly. They join the tourney whenever they think their team can play with the big boys
I believe Newport has played in this tournament every year with the exception of last year. I would say that's pretty consistant. Lloyd not having a freshman team opened up one slot, which Ludlow filled.

I'd like to see Doug get the Bellevue job. In the world we live in, hiring a non-teacher has brought a lot of good coaches to high school sports. Bryson Warner (Ryle) isn't a teacher and he's done a fine job. However, he does have assistants in the building during the day, which I'm sure Bellevue does/will have as well.

Ron Madrick will come up with a great hire.

Congrats to Coach Lickert!

TOG = Mafia
Just kidding.

^You would be correct, SK led 15-14 then Scott opened it up. Smith and Haynes are a given but Roberts is just as important for the Eagles. He didn't block a bunch of shots but the shots he alters physically and mentally really added up. Scott just flat outplayed SK, I almost got sick to my stomach watching them out hustle us.
It would be fair to say that Scott always out hustles teams. They may not win the game, but they always play hard.

Thriller. Congrats to Kellen Smith on entering the 1000 point club for the Scott Eagle basketball program. Brad Carr continues to get the most out of the kids he coaches.
-
They've been far superior the past few years but I have a feeling the tide will turn in the next few.
Personally, as long as Brad Carr is in the T-Mill, his teams will always be better than Trent Steiner's. Plus this game is usually pretty close and competitive, even if one team is more loaded than the other. Kellen Smith is far and away the best player in NKY and plays the game the right way.
-
Congrats to Chad. He'll be a great head coach, where ever he is coaching. I hope the kids buy in to what he's teaching and coaching. I wish nothing but the best for him and the Greendevils.

Campbell has received over 40 applications. I know one application was from Texas and one was from a former head coach at Madison Central who has ties to NKY.
If CCHS hires Kenny Turner, they've made the biggest mistake ever. I'd still like to see Stephen Lickert, no offense to Lee Teegarden, or Coach Turner.

Unless I am mistaken there is no 30 day rule to hire a football coach. A football coach is a classified position which does not require the waiting period just to hire the coach.
What he's trying to say is that in Kentucky, the job has to be posted for a certain amount of days before the school can actually hire someone. I thought it was two weeks, but 30 days does sound familiar. Now, the school may have someone they've found and really like, but their announcement may not come until the end of that period.

BigZig?

Good luck to a great man. Thanks, Coach.

Jeff Marksberry took over a horrid program and made it into a top 10 team in the state, and now it's "fire him"? It's unreal that Uk#1fan is even allowed to post on here anymore. Maybe he and BigZig can get together and moderate his BGP knock-off. Congrats to Ryle on the win, but congrats to SK on a remarkable run. It was fun to watch those kids play.

Great article, and appears to be a great kid. I really enjoy reading stories about kids like Cameron. Hopefully he can lead Beechwood to another state title.

Robin Kelsch scoring the final points of the game will forever be one of the finest moments any of us will ever see.
