  1. I've had a chance to see Bellevue, Grant Co, Dayton, Ludlow, Beechwood, Dixie, Highlands, and Villa play so far.

Grant Co has been the most impressive. They play hard nosed defense and are very physical.

Ludlow is alright and have a few play makers who could make Ludlow a bit of a surprised team this year.

Dixie is going to have a long year. Their offense is pretty much get the ball to Shanece Miller and let her do whatever.

Dayton, Bellevue, Villa, and Beechwood could be in for a long season. Bellevue has been alright but have only been playing with 3 starters so can't really get a good gauge on them.

As for Highlands they'll be fine. They have probably been the hardest working team I've seen play so far.

  2. none of those teams listed were there besides Knott, Breathitt, Scott High, Bishop Brossart, Pike Central, Louden Tenn., Bedford Ohio, Fairlawn Indiana, Oneida Tenn, West Virginia Spirit, and East Carter

There are two different camps. The one Bellevue is attending is from the 18th to the 21st I believe.

  3. "A man who was with a group that included Jefferson's mother, but who declined to identify himself, said he thought the motivation for the prosecution was racial and that a white student would not have found himself facing charges in court."

I wasn't certain if you were aware that this came from the newspaper or if you thought that someone on this site made the accusation. I just wanted to clear that up in case you weren't for sure.

I know it came from the paper. I was saying whoever made that comment should be ashamed of themselves for making a statement like that because of Duran's family background and Marshall's personality.

  4. There won't be any Boone Sr's to be at this as they will be at the UofL team camp this weekend.

Katie Behrens from Boone played in the junior all star game.

Whitney Cundiff of NCC got the MVP in the junior all star game from the East and from the West I believe a Conner girl got the award but I'm not sure.

The junior game was a pretty good game. The West jumped out to like a 16 or 17 point lead in the first half, but the East came back to cut it to 5 at halftime. Second half the West was too much and ended up winning 61-50 I believe.

I was very impressed with the Conley girl from SK and the Campbell co girl (not sure of her name) on the East.

From the West team, Morgan McCleese of Ryle stood out most to me and was IMO the most impressive player as she scored 8 of her team's first 8 points then the girls wouldn't pass her the ball. Kind of selfish play by both teams.

In the senior All star game, I know the west won by like 20 but not sure of the score or details except that Spring Sneider of Scott had the East's first 9 points and were leading 9-0 when I left. Carmen Firth was a ball hog as well. She took her teams first 5 or 6 shots before everyone started yelling at her to pass the ball.

  5. It would still be Wade for RIGHT NOW. Going into this year, I think had a decent lead over Lebron and Melo in who was the best out of that draft class so far. However Lebron is still to inconsistent, while Wade has showed pretty much since his rookie season been there for the big games and done very well. People have been obessesed with that INCREDIBLE performance Lebron had in that game 5 against Detroit. However I think they forget how Wade had took over alot of games already in his playoff career and against Detroit as well and in the Finals. But Lebron definitely has closed that gap but is still behind Wade IMO still right now...

Both have played in the NBA Finals in consecutive years now so to say Lebron isn't the best to come out of his draft class isn't accurate IMO. Wade has had a much better supporting cast to play with. If you put BRon with Shaq, he'd win a title too.

We won't truly be able to gauge where LBJ is until the end of the series.

  6. No way was this racially motivated and whoever said this should feel ashamed. Marshall took in Ryan Mitchell from his sophomore year until he graduated, gave him a place to live, bought everything for him, and treated him like a son so the young man could succeed because he had no where else to go. Ryan Mitchell, former basketball player of Holmes is also African American, so whoever made that comment should really think before they speak.

  7. East defense controlled the tempo and field condition for the entire game. Koester, Flynn and #44 from Holmes really stood out on the East defense.

The West offense just could not get the sustained drive without a fumble or INT. The West defense got burnt on the long ball, did well against the run.

Enjoyed the developing friendships on the sidelines as much as the action on the gridiron. Great evening for $5.

#44 is Justin Young. He's heading to Morehead State.

As for the game, no surprise here. The East makes it back to back years of dominating this all star game.

  8. I want the Cavs to win this series but the Spurs will win in 5. They have too much experience for the Cavs to handle. Just for the record the Spurs did cheapshot their way to the NBA Finals.

Same was said about the Pistons and they'll be watching the finals at home.

With Lebron James on the team, everything gets thrown out. The Spurs might have more experience but that experience hasn't been able to defeat the Cavs this year.

  9. The Spurs SHOULD beat the Cavs. Just like the Spurs should not even be in the finals, a lucky Robert Horry cheapshot on Steve Nash and an Amare Stoudamire suspension are the reasons they are still alive today. Nobody thought the Cavs would beat the Pistons either, but, they did. Lebron is turning into the new face of the NBA and he just showed us that he is a legit superstar. The Cavs big men are longer and taller than those from Utah and they will give Duncan more or a problem than people think. Larry Hughes foot will be healed by then so they will have their 2nd best scorer back healthy. And Daniel Gibson is as quick as Tony Parker. I really believe the Cavs will pull this off. It will be in 6 games!!!

Well said. Lebron being in the finals is scary for any team. Him knowing he's only 4 wins away from bringing home a ring?! Yea Lebron's about to go off and shut the critics up who try to say there is no comparison between he and MJ. Lebron is only 22 years old and should just now be getting out of college but will instead be playing in the NBA finals.

    Scary.

  10. Cleveland will win it all. San Antonio has nobody to stop Lebron and they will try and triple team him just like detroit which will cause the other players like Gooden, Hughes and Gibson to step up

Exactly. Last year the same happened with the Heat and D-Wade. Nobody could stop him so they started double and triple teaming him.

  11. Is this Cleveland team the worst team to ever make the NBA Finals?

I say no, with the Iverson led 76ers claiming that title, but they have to be close.

Wow, still no respect for Lebron and the Cavs. Some of you need to wake up and realize that this Cleveland team is for real.

A lot of you were talking about how hot the Pistons were at the beginning of the playoffs and that they might even win the championship and Cleveland just beat them in convincing fashion.

SO basically saying the Cavs are a bad team to make the finals is contradicting your statements about the Pistons. Face it guys, LBJ is the new MJ.

BTW, the Cavs are the only team the Spurs haven't beat this year for those of you saying that San Antonio will sweep them.

  12. Wow a lot of you really underestimated Lebron and the Cavs. I said from the beginning in the Wizards series that the Cavs were the hottest team and you all bashed me because Cleveland wasn't winning by 20 every game against a Gilbert Arenas-less Wizards team.

Well now the CAvs are sitting in the finals.

Gibson has stepped up and is proving to be that side kick that Lebron needed. Verajeau (sp) and Z are playing great on the defensive side of the ball. Lebron is on another planet right now. I think some need to start recognizing he IS the face of the NBA and like it or not, the next Jordan.

BTW, Cleveland is the only team that the Spurs didn't beat this year. If I remember correctly a little Warriors team knocked off a team who hadn't beat them all year as well earlier in the playoffs....don't be surprised when/IF the Cavs bring home the title.

  13. Mexitucky, I could not have said it better, thus Adam Sandler. I agree with you 110%. A highschooler just does not get him or herself into trouble of this magnitude. I am sure there is some history and that is probably the reason for the high bond. I am just disappointed in UK for not "flushing" out Jefferson's shortfalls during the recruiting process.

It's time to reward the athletes in school who also happen to get good grades and happen to be an asset within their communities.

Although Duran did do something VERY VERY stupid and committed a felonious act, he actually did get good grades and was in the I.B program at Holmes just so you know. Also he volunteered at local elementary schools to tutor them and participated in a "big brother" program within the Covington Independent school system.

  14. Lebron took his first major step toward "heir to the throne" status, IMO. They questioned his ability in the big spots and he drained a huge shot to hold off a late Piston run and followed it up with a huge game 5...if he can finish them off in game 6 at home, he's taken a huge step. Of all the guys in the NBA right now, Lebron is the only one who has a chance to exceed Jordan, IMO. He may never do it, but it at least looks like he's started down that road finally...

And, what's up with Lebron not getting calls? That's a joke, IMO. The NBA officiating is ridiculous. Dirk breathes in the direction of D-Wade and they call a foul that costs Dallas the game, and then Detroit can practically body slam Lebron and nothing gets called. Rest assured, if Lebron keeps this up the Pistons will soon be complaining because they'll get whistled every time they look at him.

I really hope the Cavs finish them off.
