I live in Independence. Independence is certainly primarily white anglo. I think "largely from rural poverty" is a bit of an overstatement though, and should not be used to try to play this off as some kind of allegation that these actions are being conducted by "poor uneducated white trash" or anything like that. There are bits and pieces of rural poverty left, undoubtedly, but still, to name a "few" of the subdivisions in Independence:
1 - Alamo
2 - Alderbrook
3 - Aosta Valley
4 - Ashford Village
5 - Battle Ridge
6 - Beauty View Acres
7 - Beechgrove
8 - Bristow Lakes
9 - Canberra Ridge
10 - Claiborne
11 - Clover Ridge
12 - Clover Trails
13 - Cody Meadows
14 - Country Club Estates
15 - Courthouse Estates
16 - Deanna's Ridge
17 - Falcon Ridge
18 - Farmview
19 - Freedom Park
20 - Freedom Trail
21 - Forest Run
22 - Glenhurst
23 - Golden Ridge
24 - Greens of Glenhurst
25 - Hartland
26 - Harvest Hills
27 - Hickory Valley
28 - Hillcrest
29 - Independence Pointe
30 - Independence Ridge
31 - Janlee Acres
32 - Kelly
33 - Lakefield
34 - Lakeside at Independence Condos
35 - Liberty Orchard
36 - Maher Meadows
37 - Manor Hill
38 - Meadow Glen
39 - New Haven
40 - Old Kentucky Home
41 - Pembroke Village
42 - Plantation Heights
43 - Reveres Crossing

46 - Shadybrook Bluffs
47 - Shadybrook Trails
48 - Shaw Estates

51 - Tilford Hill
52 - Trails of Glenhurst
53 - Troopers Crossing
54 - Williams Woods
55 - Woodcutters Crossing
56 - Wood Dale
There is another 40 that have been approved and not yet broke ground on. The housing bubble pop, slowed if not stopped the sub division madness. Kenton County seriously needs to consider another High School soon, SK is WAY overcrowded as it is...

Spring. Track and Baseball coaches hate it because it robs them of talented athletes who want to play a real sport:p

My little ones are still toddlers, but they do have lax sticks already! I do follow the Warriors on FB. And I will be trying to get my middle aged butt into a box league once again..... getting old sucks.

I'm sorry to hear Casey is out for the year. My son was Casey's team mate two years ago on two different teams. He carried Casey off the field when he was injured in Louisville.
My son has competed against Moss since the days of the chargers and knights, then the mustangs and broncos. He has all the tools to be great.
If I were a Boone parent, given the state of the program today and the issues two years ago around the selection of starting qb, I would be severely tempted to publicly call for change at Boone. But I am not a Boone parent, so it is not my place.
Boone has a very rich and proud tradition that rivals that of even Highlands. They get tremendous talent almost every year. They do not perceive a need to commit to a down field pass offense. They just do not engage with the youth program. In order to develop a QB, you have to start at about grade 6.
If the status quo persists much longer, kids and coaches will leave.
I will not send my sons to play for them. I am currently in the house hunting process, and BCHS district is not an option. It is sad as I am very proud of my days there, but the program is not evolving, and if your not moving forward, your moving backwards.

Well I hope so at any rate. I played club in hs and college and have two little ones who I expect will want to as well. I pray that Ryle or Cooper will have a program in place by the time they are old enough. If not, CCH or crossing the river is an option.
-
Maybe, we probably will never know as Boone County and Ryle generally do not play 1A and 2A schools.
Boone will still be a better team than most after they lose to CCH and Male in the next two weeks, and Ryle is a better program for playing and losing to DeSales and Colrain.
-
I think Ryle has the hardest schedule this year, that being said, I would take an 0-4 Boone County squad that has played serious competition over a 4-0 team that beaten a bunch of cupcakes.
-
Simon Kenton had a run of bad teams back in the 90s as well. It was usually a battle of the winless in Kenton Co between them and Scott. Now they have great program going! So all these teams listed can at least know that it wont always be this way, and that they are building the foundation for the programs future.

Hate to see talented young athletes make the wrong decision over and over again. At some point you just have to quit holding their hand and let them go. My guess is he will be D3 or NAIA sooner rather than later.

I moved from EKY upnorth when I was still young. I took a lot of crap for my accent so I notice alot of little things that I think are funny. The one that I hear every day without fail is people add an "s" to the end of grocery store names, such as Kroger(s), Meijer(s) & Wal Mart(s)
