  1. Last year there were a number of players on several teams who had formerly been at Rose Hill. VanHoose and Austin Blair at Russell, Alex Barker at Fairview, Matt Thomas at Ashland, Gillums at Greenup, Mayo, Jamal Williams, and Michael Taylor at Huntington High to name a few.

Can you imagine what a team that would have been had they all stayed at Rose Hill

  2. As far as Elliott's strength of schedule outside of the 16th region they play #1 Mason County, possibly in the 5/3 Bank Classic #2 Lexington Catholic, and WV state champions Huntington High. So their strength of schedule outside of the region looks pretty tough. Elliott should make a serious run at the state this year.

It remains to be seen how much competetion Huntington High will be. They may be defending state champs in the Mountain State, but they graduated their top six in June!

    TBF,

Should that be, "Never HAVE any of my superiors..."???

    Sorry! I just couldn't resist!:D

Chap Ol' Buddy, Do you have any knowledge on the number of "Special Needs" children enrolled at RHcS? Are Any children with (disabilities) able to meet the entrance Policy? or is the "policy" in place to keep out the nondeserving Christians? I point out again, How many Hillcrest-Bruce (area) kids are bused to your school? or better yet given a SINGLE/FIRST TIME chance to attend your school based on the known incapabilities to pay the tuition fees? Does the single-working "Christian" mom have the opportunity to send her child to your school to recieve a non-public eduction or is she just out of luck? Pick n Choose, Pick n Choose, Pick n Choose is the policy I see occuring?

My advice to you, sir, is not to base your opinion on pre conceived notions and prejudicial information. Get informed before making all of your assumptions.

There are a number of non athletes at Rose Hill receiving financial assistance. Your insinuations are both ignorant (as in not aware of the facts) and inflamatory.

    :argue:

    In short, Get a clue:fight:

  5. Hate to see Walker go (again), and February sure is a weird time to do it, but if that's the case, so be it...

He is an outstanding freshman talent wise.

I certainly don't know what's happened, but I would remind everyone (even the skeptics) that Rose Hill is first and foremost a Christian school, and sometimes folks can't or won't like it.

I don't know what the situation is with Walker, but I certainly wish him all the best in the future. He's quite a talent.

The Royals performance tonight against Paintsville should at least answer the question of how his absence will effect their attitudes.

  7. Even though I am not from Ashland originally, I do love Putnam Stadium. I was very happy to have a hand in the remodeling of the entrance area with new rest rooms, concession stands, cheerleader rooms, storage rooms, etc. We also had some remodeling done (although no enlargement) in the old press box.

One of the things on our plan when I left the School Board, was a new locker room facility (in a separate building) similar to the one at Russell. There is a small frame house just outside the west end of the stadium. Our plan was to demolish the house and build the locker room/officials room there. After the major renovation to the entrance of the stadium we were waiting till the next fiscal year to have the funds to do it. I don't know what happened to the plan. That was two superintendents ago, and only one of the same board members remain, so I guess they have different plans.

I will give them credit, that the badly needed baseball facility on campus was finally completed in the interim, and it probably should have taken precedence over the football locker rooms, BUT the board SHOULD address this need NOW.

I haven't been in the visitors locker room in a number of years now, but it was in absolutely deplorable condition then. It was an embarassment to the Ashland School System. I saw several teams just load up their busses and travel back home in their dirty uniforms - rather than shower and dress in that old locker room.:o

But back to the original subject of this thread, I have been to no better High School football game venue than good old Putnam Stadium.:thumb:
