Yes, I have been to several big meets...I'd rather watch paint dry.
Just curious as to what big meets you have attended? I am sure as an alumnus of Marshall you had the chance to watch the WV high school state tournament and the WSAZ tournament both of which are held in Huntington.
I don't know if you have ever been to the KY high school state tournament, but if you don't find that particular meet exciting then you don't have a pulse. People who have never watched a wrestling meet, that for some reason or another get conned into going, tell me that it is one of the most exciting events they have ever been to. Granted most local meets can be rather long and drawn out, so I can see instances where one might rather watch paint dry.
Many people argue that wrestling would supplement a school's football program. I feel that if a school fully supported their wrestling team like they do other sports then this would definitely be true. However, in most cases this isn't true. A weak wrestling team does nothing to help the football team. What most local teams lack though is a good head coach who actually wrestled. There are several teams who are coached by someone who never spent a second on the mat. Schools need to actively pursue a knowledgable wrestling coach. This, along with support from the school (and approval from the football coach), would translate into a competitive team, which would inturn improve the athletes that play football. Aside from the physical abilities that can be aquired from wrestling, the mental toughness gained from wrestling is unrivaled by any sport. Wrestling needs to be inbraced as a competitive sport, as well as a tool to be used by football coaches.

Wow. Usually your at least some what close to the facts. But are you way off on this on. Matney has faced several top passing teams and one of the best ever. 98 Highlands team was one of the best passing teams KY has ever had. Lorenzen and Gino throwing the ball down the feild. That is what you would call a "top-flight" passing team. Also Belfry that year was running a no huddle shotgun offense with Wright. Plus beating a Tim Couch led Leslie Co. Matney's expertise is in the Defensive secondary. I don't think he will be out of his element when facing the pass.
Took the words right out of my mouth!

Awww, c-f... A little foolishness never hurts...
But, anyway... whoever said this was "strength against strength" is correct (meaning JC's run vs. CovCath's run D). Usually when games match up like that, it'll be the other side of the coin that'll determine the outcome. Central's defense is very good and has a lot of individual talent, but it hasn't seen a passing offense like the one CovCath will bring Friday. I'll take that another step...I'm not sure Jim Matney has ever had to prepare for a top-flight passing team before.
It'll be interesting to see how it all matches up.
I remember Jim Matney beating a fairly decent passing team from Leslie County with a QB named Couch while at Sheldon Clark.

Jacob is 3-0. Pinned Shane Milam (McDonogh) in 32 seconds. Next match is the quarter finals against #7 seeded Jordan Burroughs.

Murton got the #2 seed at 135.

Anyone have results from the Wayne Co. Duals? According to another website Fern Creek posted a perfect 5-0 record. I also read that Malcom Jackson (Fern Creek) teched Eric Bryant. Did anyone see this match?
Johnson Central vs Wheelersburg, OH Predictions
in KY Football (High School)

I know that comparing scores in football isn't the best way to predict the outcome of a future match-up, but JC and Wheelersburg have one common opponent: South Point, OH.
JC defeated South Point 34-0, while Wheelersburg won 23-0. Just something to think about...
